To think that most F1 racers seem to have won the genetic lottery?

Absolutely irrelevant topic but this has always been on my mind for no reason at all. I watch a lot of F1 races due to my family being very much into it and for some reason they all generally seem to be what you could consider 'good looking'.

I am sure there is no actual correlation between physical appearance and success as a F1 racer but it's something I noticed ages ago

No not at all. They’re almost all wealthy or from wealthy families. I think the two are linked. Lack of hardship, permatan and are fit and healthy.

Money also makes it easier to deal with a face that looks like it’s been hit with the back of a shovel 😁

@itsgettingweird totally agree on JB and DR and they seem lovely personality wise imo however some I wouldn't want to spend an evening with particularly Lewis he seems so dull and up himself

They’re rich and well groomed aren’t they which on a man does tend to translate as good looking. Good skin and teeth and kind of healthy looking. I’m averagely well off and stressed and wish I had that look about me.

Ha no I think the opposite, I think there is a real lack of hotties! Maybe LeClerc but he’s so young looking! I would fancy Lewis if it weren’t for his tattoos but that’s about it. Bottas, vettel, magnussen, Perez, raikonnen... not seeing it myself!

Same as the general population- Some of them are gorgeous, some are less so. Although their bank balances are all VERY attractive.

Danny Ric is nice, Lewis is good looking, Max Verstappen though? God no!

Yeah they have great personalities.

Very laid back, naturally funny.

I also think Lando Norris is like this too. He's a great potential but interviews well and doesn't take himself too seriously.

I like Mark Webber for this reason when he interviews the above.

I won't deny Lewis is an incredible talent. But I agree beyond F1 there isn't much substance.

Max and Valtteri seem to swing between too serious and actually quite relaxed. They need to take their game faces off more often!

My daughter has a distinct thing about George Russell ( who is a local boy to us ) and is actually very sweet . I do like the way some of the younger ones are obviously great mates ...playing online racing whilst in lockdown and having a right laugh , just like my own sons .

Money helps. They have to keep themselves in great shape, some also are also great in interviews, witty, others not so much. Bit young for me though

They will be much, much likelier to come from families that are well -off at the very least. Well- nourished, well housed, access to good health care, including good dental care. Unlikely to have had any illnesses leading to long term neurological problems, few parasites. That already put them ahead of most of the people on the planet looks/ health wise before they even start competing.
But go deeper. They are likely to be fairly confident. The ugliest kid in the school is not so likely to be confident and competitive. (not saying it can't happen, but it's all about probabilities. ) They are unlikely to be the least favoured child in any situation and there is some evidence that suggests that attractiveness (aesthetically, nothing improper) tends to improve an adults estimate of a child's few capabilities.
And then, once they become F1 drivers or are well on their way to work towards it, any team is likely to select the better looking driver over the worse looking one, if all other things are equal. (obviously, being fast is more important too. ) They need to be really physically fit so will have a carefully worked out exercise regime and will also need to avoid bulking up too much, so if your tastes favour a certain lithe and wiry strength then F1 drivers may be more to your tastes.
And the parents are more likely to have been financially able to help their child to anF1 career if they have plenty of money - and they are more likely to have got that if better looking, although hard work and ability help too.
