www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2020/aug/09/labour-mp-dawn-butler-stopped-by-police-in-london

The police stopped the car being driven by her friend (she was a passenger.) Unlike the elite athletes stopped with their 3 month old baby in the car www.theguardian.com/law/2020/jul/06/why-did-police-stop-and-search-bianca-williams-and-ricardo-dos-santos she’s had an apology.

AIBU to think that if she wasn’t an MP the police would be sticking by their ‘reasonable suspicion’? Is that what it takes to be dealt with fairly by the police?

smileeachday I totally see why you don’t want to engage with people like me who call out people like Dawn Butler on their race baiting. You would need an argument and you clearly don’t have one.
I have no idea if you are black or white but you do BAME people no favours by backing people like her regardless of what she does.

Smileyaxolotl1 · 15/08/2020 15:42

smileeachday so can you defend her racism in only posting help for non- white students?

SmileEachDay · 15/08/2020 16:53

Smileyaxolotl1

You don’t understand what racism is.

Smileyaxolotl1 · 15/08/2020 18:03

Just because Marxists have changed the definition of racism to include prejudice with power doesn’t mean the rest of the world Or the dictionary has. Dawn Butler has only given information to black students on how to appeal their A Levels ignoring the plight of white students in her constituency. At best she just doesn’t give a crap about the white people she purports to represent, at worst she’s a racist. Which do you think it is?

ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 15/08/2020 18:13

That is proof to you that she is racist because she posted information aimed at black students (that shall often face more difficulties due to racism in our society than white students)

What if she posted a link for children from the traveller community

Smileyaxolotl1 · 15/08/2020 19:00

ItsAlways no- not because she posted a link for black students, no.
Because she ONLY posted a link for black students.
And white working class boys do the worst in the education system as it happens but she’s obviously not concerned about them.

ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 15/08/2020 19:06

Has she told you that she isn’t concerned about white working class boys

The fact is white working boys are not facing the same issues as black boys and young black men are and this website address the particular issues they are more likely to face

Smileyaxolotl1 · 15/08/2020 19:45

Itsalways
If she was concerned about anyone but black students she would have posted a link that all her constituents could use to help them alongside any specific help for specific groups.

chomalungma · 15/08/2020 19:54

And white working class boys do the worst in the education system as it happens but she’s obviously not concerned about them

Do white working class boys in her part of London do worse educationally than black working class boys?

Note the specificity of that question - not about white working class boys in general because there are many such boys outside of London in areas which receive much less funding than London.

ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 15/08/2020 19:56

How do you know that ? Has she told you I only care about black people

It makes her racist what against white people because she has only posted a link to a website that supports black students. Does that mean she holds racist views towards Asian students

Give over. Are you not aware of the issues of racism in our society

Am I sexist because I might send links to friends about issues that only impact girls and women

C130 · 15/08/2020 20:09

Exactly! ItsallwaysSunnyonMN.

AuntyPasta · 15/08/2020 20:53

’so can you defend her racism in only posting help for non- white students?‘

Did you actually look at the link she posted? It gives info on what to do if you’re unhappy with the grades you’ve been given, who to contact and template letters for situations relating to appeals. FOR EVERYONE. It’s all right there on the website.

OP posts:
downwardspiral1 · 15/08/2020 21:02

Yes this ^. I had a look at the link and the info is generic. (As an aside, she is my MP.)

chomalungma · 15/08/2020 21:09

I guess some people can't possibly use a link that seems to be just for black people at first glance. For some reason.

C130 · 15/08/2020 21:09

You really should check your facts, before going off on one like that Smileyaxolot.

chomalungma · 15/08/2020 21:11

I wonder how many people posted on DB's twitter timeline when she posted that link?

Smileyaxolotl1 · 15/08/2020 23:10

Much as I love the pile on- I did check the link this morning which just took you to the BLAMuk website which clearly stated they exist to support black people only.

I can only assume that following massive criticism on Twitter she/or the website changed the link to go to a generic appeal one.

And its always sunny you can do whatever you want, you can send links to whatever you want- you’re not supposed to be representing a wide range of people in your constituency.

Smileyaxolotl1 · 15/08/2020 23:11

AuntyPasta it does now, it didn’t this morning.

chomalungma · 15/08/2020 23:25

You can't edit Tweets - so are you saying that the website decided to alter the link so it had generic resources to appeal A-level results?

blamuk.org/2020/08/12/blam-uk-a-level-appeals-guide/

It looks like from other tweets that that link has been used a lot - as it looks to contain useful information for all pupils.

chomalungma · 15/08/2020 23:34

There's also clear links and images to the A-level appeals guide on tweets on the 12th August - which is the pdf on the page that is linked to.

It's advice for anyone. So what did you see when you clicked on it earlier?

downwardspiral1 · 16/08/2020 00:41

The website might exist to support black students, however the links within the same website are generic ones which anyone can use which is why she linked to them.

SmileEachDay · 16/08/2020 09:34

I can only assume that following massive criticism on Twitter she/or the website changed the link to go to a generic appeal one

Really? 😂😂😂😂😂

chomalungma · 16/08/2020 09:42

I am just wondering what advice they would give that only applies to black students?

SmileEachDay · 16/08/2020 09:53

It’s also an organisation that is based in London - relatively close to Butler’s constituency.

So, as well as the clear links to appeal guidance etc, they are well placed to give more specific localised advice.

ItsAlwaysSunnyOnMN · 16/08/2020 09:54

Smileyaxolotl1 the question was would I be sexist if I only posted a link on information that impacted females

You claim DB is racist and have apparently decided this over a link she posted that you do not even appear to have read

Or did you read a frothing tweet from another who doesn’t bother to read the link and makes the decision to go on a rant because it fits their beliefs that black people are making a bit too much fuss over this racism thing
