AIBU about dog poo on pram?

DM took DS out for the second time by herself today (first time was yesterday - he's 10 months but due to lockdown she hasn't done this before). She came back and there was dog poo on the pram wheel. DP has gone mental. He is saying we need to buy a new pram wheel. I suspect he won't let DM take DS out again tomorrow. He is furious. He says it's incredibly dangerous for babies. We need to chuck the blanket out because it was in the under carriage bit of the pram near the wheel. I think whereas it's annoying at the end of the day you just clean a pram wheel with some water and it's fine? Would have run it through a puddle but it's hot today.

So the question is
YABU - DP is right and poo on the pram wheel is awful, awful, awful. Bring on the new wheel / new blanket/ DM barred from taking DS out.

YANBU - dog poo on a pram wheel is regrettable but ultimately fine.

P.S. he wants to buy the new pram wheel on eBay. Like that one won't have ever had any dog poo on it.....

He needs to calm down.

Iggly · 08/08/2020 19:23

Your DP sounds over the top and paranoid. I’m guessing he doesn’t like your mum and wonder how he is towards other people in your life who aren’t his family or friends.

Oysterbabe · 08/08/2020 19:24

Your DH really needs to get a grip, it's a non issue.

OverTheRainbow88 · 08/08/2020 19:26

Woah! Gosh! Does your OH have anxiety issues? I stood on dog poobare foot at the park today... should I chop my foot off? It was quite upsetting experience but I wiped my foot with a baby wipe, put on some alcohol jel on it and good as new!

icedaisy · 08/08/2020 19:26

Is he ok?

I have post natal anxiety and that wouldn't bother me. Wash wheel, wash blanket. It's not even on the blanket.

Bitchinkitchen · 08/08/2020 19:26

Is your DP doing ok in general? PPD and PPA can affect men too - if he's feeling really anxious at the moment please get him to talk to his GP.

makingmammaries · 08/08/2020 19:26

Is he going to buy new wheels every time the pram goes out? Pavements are covered in residual dog poo particles.

isadoradancing123 · 08/08/2020 19:27

Your mum didnt do it on purpose. Just wash the wheel of course you dont need a new wheel

TenShortStories · 08/08/2020 19:27

Sound very ott on his part. Was it in an aggressive way or a paranoid and very anxious way? If it was the former he sounds horrible. If the latter, he sounds like he needs to see his GP.

Modestandatinybitsexy · 08/08/2020 19:27

Completely unreasonable. I thought you were going to say is was wheeled all the way through the house or something.

HeyAsdaIAintGonBeYourBitch · 08/08/2020 19:28

Yanbu. He sounds very OTT about it. Is he like this about cleanliness normally? Could it be something to do with anxiety about germs, especially at the moment and especially since your mum took him out for the first time today?

Sewrainbow · 08/08/2020 19:28

A thorough wash and it'll be fine, same with blanket.

It's a sign if anxiety though my dh was/is paranoid about dog poo and used to go mental if it went on buggy wheels or shoes. He chucked a pair of his own away when he stepped in it. I guess your dh is just worrying about keeping his baby safe and trying to control an overwhelming situation which being a new parent is...

HopeClearwater · 08/08/2020 19:29

Your DP actually sounds mentally unwell. Wash the wheel down with dilute bleach. All will be well.
Good luck though ... Flowers

Watermama · 08/08/2020 19:30

Yanbu he sounds like a control freek. I would be suspicious of his over the top reaction it's convenient that the first time she's taken your DS for a walk he's found a reason to possibly ban further walks. I
If he get dog mess on the wheels.is he still allowed to take D's for a walk?

CrimeCantCrackItself · 08/08/2020 19:30

The phrase "shit happens" springs to mind.

Is he ok generally as that is a HUGE overreaction to a bit of poor. Wash the wheel and stick the blanket through a hot wash with some dettol and jobs a gudden.

NerrSnerr · 08/08/2020 19:31

Was the wheel, put the blanket in the washing machine and forget about it. These things happen.

IncrediblySadToo · 08/08/2020 19:32

I'd be seriously worried about an adult that genuinely thought that.

He needs help.

& that's coming from someone very fussy about hygiene. Very particular.

I don't out anything loose under the buggy, only in bags - ones that can be washed in the washing machine or wiped with a decent cleaner

I'd wash the wheel with bleach, not just water, but yes, all it needs is a wash

PablosHoney · 08/08/2020 19:33

Your poor mum 😱

eatsleepread · 08/08/2020 19:33

Hmm Your poor mum.

cautiouscovidity · 08/08/2020 19:34

Gosh it's fine. Get the hosepipe on the wheel and leave it in the sun. The UV light will kill any germs. Ditto with the pram blanket. Wash it and hang on the line to dry.

GrumpyHoonMain · 08/08/2020 19:36

I have a feeling your DP may have done things like this to isolate you from loved ones before. That is the only reason why I think you are questioning it. Of course it’s unreasonable and if you have been on the brunt of this before you need to leave before he isolates you from your mum.

CarrieBlu · 08/08/2020 19:37

I put the kettle on and wash the wheels down with boiling water when this happens. Chuck a bit of bleach or anti bac spray on the wheel afterwards, then wash the blanket, it’ll all be absolutely fine.

Your husband’s reaction is over the top.

TidyDancer · 08/08/2020 19:37

Is he usually like this about other things? I really feel so sorry for your mum. Please don't let your DP be horrible to her.

FlySheMust · 08/08/2020 19:39

I've lost count of how many times it happened when the DCs were in buggies. Just wash and disinfect.

Footlooseandfancy · 08/08/2020 19:40

Just give it a wash off.

He's going to have an absolute shocker when baby turns into a toddler if this is the reaction. Mine must have a shit sonar.
