AIBU about dog poo on pram?

Autumnsloth · 08/08/2020 19:22

DM took DS out for the second time by herself today (first time was yesterday - he's 10 months but due to lockdown she hasn't done this before). She came back and there was dog poo on the pram wheel. DP has gone mental. He is saying we need to buy a new pram wheel. I suspect he won't let DM take DS out again tomorrow. He is furious. He says it's incredibly dangerous for babies. We need to chuck the blanket out because it was in the under carriage bit of the pram near the wheel. I think whereas it's annoying at the end of the day you just clean a pram wheel with some water and it's fine? Would have run it through a puddle but it's hot today.

So the question is
YABU - DP is right and poo on the pram wheel is awful, awful, awful. Bring on the new wheel / new blanket/ DM barred from taking DS out.

YANBU - dog poo on a pram wheel is regrettable but ultimately fine.

P.S. he wants to buy the new pram wheel on eBay. Like that one won't have ever had any dog poo on it.....

Jesus Christ 😂😂 I’ve got a massive American bulldog who got into and ate a full kilo bag of treats yesterday. I came downstairs this morning and there was liquid shit EVERYWHERE. God knows what your oh would have done 😂😂

GJ14 · 08/08/2020 20:15

It’s awful but no need to panic. Just scrub with gloves (bin them after) and bleach or disinfect outside. I used to pour boiling water on the wheel. You can machine wash the blanket on a high temp!

If I had a new pram wheel every time I went over poo.. 🤣 Not nice but no need to panic.

When I was a baby my mum took me to the doctors after wheeling over poo. She was concerned it may have flicked in my eye. It didn’t obviously..

GJ14 · 08/08/2020 20:16

And stopping your mum taking your child out would be ridiculous. It could happen to the nets of us! Him, you.. your mum! Anyone. I’m sure your child will at least one stand in poo once they are walking. Bastards who don’t pick up after their dogs shouldn’t be allowed dogs 🤬

Lifeisgenerallyfun · 08/08/2020 20:19

Is he anxious in general? Remember men can be affected mentally by a baby’s arrival. Otherwise I would think it was some control thing about who can take the baby out

BadTattoosAndSmellLikeBooze · 08/08/2020 20:19

It sounds like he’s suffering from anxiety. Some people with OCD also have concerns like his. He needs to get some help, sarcastic comments from some people on here won’t help.

As a toddler I came up to my mum delighted to show her the stick I had found. It was a dried out dog poo. I was distraught when she made me throw it away. Survived into adulthood with no issues....

BatShite · 08/08/2020 20:20

Dp sounds like they have serious problems tbh. Its not normal at all to be quite that paranoid about a bit of poo on a wheel. If DC had came back with random poo all over their face, yes, stop Dm taking them out again, but, on a pram wheel?!

MostlyAmbridgeandcoffee · 08/08/2020 20:21

This happened to me when my baby was a few weeks old / I definitely freaked out and got the antibacterials involved but I didn’t throw the pram away!

Chloemol · 08/08/2020 20:22

He needs to grow up, wash it off and carry on

crimsonclover · 08/08/2020 20:23

Easily done, easily fixed. I was always wary of this though when I needed to bring the pram inside and had a crawler. We joined a brush attachment to the end of our garden hose for such occasions and it worked a treat.

Wrenna · 08/08/2020 20:24

He’s nuts. You need to ditch him not the wheel!

howfarwevecome · 08/08/2020 20:25

Not only was his reaction completely over the top and then some, but to even think he could ban your mother from walking your baby without your agreement for such a thing is incredibly twattish behaviour.

LordOfTheOnionRings · 08/08/2020 20:27

Your poor mum!

skodadoda · 08/08/2020 20:29

OP, the prom wheels have been over all kinds of bacteria including poo that’s been spread from other people’s shoes that would be invisible. Following his logic you would never use a pram or buggy outdoors.

diddl · 08/08/2020 20:29

You needed a reality check?

You didn't seriously give any credence at all to any of the shit he was spouting did you?

And not letting your mum take your son out again tomorrow-I hope that you'll put him straight on that one!

Could have been worse-your mum might not have noticed & brought it in the house!

VinylDetective · 08/08/2020 20:29

Has he always been this batshit?

BlackberrySky · 08/08/2020 20:32

He does know that babies sit in their own poo, right?

PiratePetespajamas · 08/08/2020 20:35

I am a maniacal germphobe and even I wouldn’t react like this. My biggest concern would not be the poo on the wheel so much as bringing it into the house/car on the wheel, IYSWIM. Good wash outside with an old toothbrush if the wheel has ridges, using fairy liquid, rinse and then - yes, again, I’m a germphobe - a 10% bleach solution. I might wash the blanket if I was especially frantic (depends if it was a massive lump of poo or just a smear). Job done and I’d forget about it. This is going to happen again, you can’t keep buying a new pram wheel from ebay( which has probably had poo on it itself..) every time! Grin

DotBall · 08/08/2020 20:36

Your DH is gonna implode when your baby becomes a toddler bringing you a half-eaten worm or slug😂🙈

bedjolly · 08/08/2020 20:36

YANBU. Spray a bit of disinfect on that thing give it a good scrub and wash the blanket. I'm a bit like this sometimes 😂 overly paranoid.

Best dog poo story ever! Gave me a good laugh (although very glad I'm not your Mum Grin

Kettle of boiling water, a bit of bleach or antibac, job done.

He sounds a bit, erm, highly strung.

Billben · 08/08/2020 20:39

Holy cow. If he was my DH I don’t think I could have a conversation with him about this keeping a straight face and not piss myself laughing at his ridiculousness 😂🤣😂🤣😂.
How is he going to be when your child will start putting everything in their mouth for a quick chew 😂

Bishoprick · 08/08/2020 20:40

Oh, poor DP. I still remember one of my (then) toddlers being in the most horrendous mood known to mankind. Apparently, it was more fun to lie on the ground in dog poo and scream than it was to get in the buggy.

It was not a fine parenting moment, but we all survived.

countbackfromten · 08/08/2020 20:41

@TheOriginalMrsMoss why thank you!

THATbasicrebelBITCH · 08/08/2020 20:42

Tell him it will only be ok if you get a whole new pram. Top of the range of course
