AIBU about dog poo on pram?

DM took DS out for the second time by herself today (first time was yesterday - he's 10 months but due to lockdown she hasn't done this before). She came back and there was dog poo on the pram wheel. DP has gone mental. He is saying we need to buy a new pram wheel. I suspect he won't let DM take DS out again tomorrow. He is furious. He says it's incredibly dangerous for babies. We need to chuck the blanket out because it was in the under carriage bit of the pram near the wheel. I think whereas it's annoying at the end of the day you just clean a pram wheel with some water and it's fine? Would have run it through a puddle but it's hot today.

So the question is
YABU - DP is right and poo on the pram wheel is awful, awful, awful. Bring on the new wheel / new blanket/ DM barred from taking DS out.

YANBU - dog poo on a pram wheel is regrettable but ultimately fine.

P.S. he wants to buy the new pram wheel on eBay. Like that one won't have ever had any dog poo on it.....

FGS, what a precious pillock he is.

@Autumnsloth

Thanks to everyone's replies. just felt like I needed a reality check on this one. Thanks also for the bleach and sunlight suggestions, blanket currently on hot wash.

He's defiantly not abusive - just anxious and very worried about germs. Yes, this is our first baby (Grin to the shin sonar, look forward to that!) And DP is very protective of him. Someone asked, he claims to have never let the pram go through poo!

He was way way over the top. If the blanket actually had poo on it or the baby crawled through poo that would be very different. I hope you show him this poll.

Is your DP having a breakdown? he should talk to someone his behaviours a bit mental. Maybe things are getting to him. His poor mum.

Whats he going to do when in a few years time its on your toddlers shoe. Or in the case of my toddler on her shoes and socks and leggings (literally had to bin the shoes they were too far gone. Take socks and leggings off and carry her). A bit of poo on the pram wheel is nothing. Dont let him make your dm feel bad its easy done. dog owners who don't pick up the poo are the worst.

Dog poo on a pram wheel can be cleaned and easily. No need to buy a new one.

You do need to be careful with dog poo as handling it inappropriately can cause blindness.

Embracelife · 09/08/2020 00:52

Can potentially lead to illness which might cause blindness.

Good hygiene can help prevent but throwing away something which can be cleaned is not the way forward
The baby did not roll in the poo
When older hand hygiene is key after playing outside

Embracelife · 09/08/2020 00:54

If one of your eyes is affected by toxocariasis, there's a risk of permanentvision loss. However, prompt treatment can reduce the chances of this happening.

A risk of ...and prompt treatment can prevent

It really sounds like he hates your mum. I don’t see why else anyone would behave like a dick about some dog shit on the wheel.

Happymum12345 · 09/08/2020 01:13

It does sound a bit bonkers. I get it, I’m the same sometimes. It sounds like anxiety. You both have my sympathy. Bleach the wheel& boil wash the blanket.

DBML · 09/08/2020 01:24

This is a hard one for me, because logically I know that you are right op...but at the same time I suffer with severe OCD and I have a phobia of dog poop, so, yes, I would probably buy a new pram.

My son fell over in dog poop at the children’s park when he was about three. Dogs weren’t supposed to be allowed in that area, so I guess we weren’t vigilant enough.
I stripped DS down to his pants and threw every piece of clothing and his shoes in the nearest bin.

Oncemorewithfeelin · 09/08/2020 01:24

Does he bin one shoe if he ever steps in it?

Your partner is either an arse or has some serious health anxieties. The wheel needs washed. That's it.

1forAll74 · 09/08/2020 02:12

Is this real ha ha. Has your partner never heard of cleaning things up a bit. You do read some funny things on here, but always good for a laugh.
