I've ordered another 8 and have my eye on another 5 pack....when in reality how many reusable ones do I need...am I getting obsessed?

I can't even leave the house without one in my bag due to current rules so I guess it's not a bad thing!

I think DP bought some disposables of ebay in march
We havent used 1
But we not in a mandatory mask area thankfully, nor did we have huge numbers of cases, zero in my local area

RoseMartha · 31/07/2020 00:59

We have about five reusable each.

MyNameHasBeenTaken · 31/07/2020 01:42

I have 2. From the copper clothing company.
Shaped nicely so they dont squash my face.
Been perfectly happy to wear one until today's heat.
But I didnt want to wear anything. So didnt go out.

Bloody hell some of these replies! 23 Shock

There are 4 of us in our house. I have a gorgeous designer one, dp has an F1 one. Ds (17) has a couple of black ones and dd (9) has a couple of pink/peach ones.

We also keep spare disposables in the car and in my bag.

Technically, we could all not wear one for medical reasons but feel it’s best for now to wear them ( dd chooses if she wants to as is under 11 )

I didnt think of them being an accessory but If this is our “new normal” then I would like to get a few more.
I saw a great one with Linda from Gimme gimme gimme ( Kathy Burke) on.

In our house we have 7. I've ordered another 4. And I'm sending back another four that I waited on for 9 weeks that are too big. Have been refunded the money for them anyway. I didn't know my ex mil is brilliant at sewing or that she has a sewing machine but she made 4 lovely masks for my two daughters. My eldest was in a shop and people were asking where she got the mask. They are black with a licorice allsorts pattern on them. Cool enough for a teenager and 21 year old to wear anyway!

Allmyeye · 31/07/2020 02:08

2 material ones made by a colleague’s gran. A fabric one with flamingoes and ten disposable inserts which fit in it. The remainder of a packet of disposables which I bought before I got the others.

SillyLoveSong · 31/07/2020 02:09

Just one disposable I keep in my handbag for an emergency shop.

Alienin · 31/07/2020 02:34
  1. I have a washing machine.
1forAll74 · 31/07/2020 02:41

I only have one at the moment, my neighbour made it for me, so its a designer one. She found some material at home, and it matches a summer dress I wear, so it means I have to wear the same dress all the time. ha ha... But have just ordered four more masks on line, not arrived yet.

Chwaraeteg · 31/07/2020 08:00
  1. I bought them thinking that I would have enough to wear once then wash. It's really not enough though, I think I underestimated how often I pop to the shop and how often I do laundry. I've ended up just throwing them in my bag and re-using. Meh, we haven't been wearing masks for the past 4 months anyway, so as long as I'm following the law, who cares?
Furrydogmum · 31/07/2020 08:15

My DH has 3 washable ones and adult DCs have 1 washable one each. I don't have one as don't go anywhere that requires them.

Sirzy · 31/07/2020 08:18

4 washable, so each time I come in I can chuck it in the wash if I have worn one. I also have a couple of buffs I can wear if needed.

I wanted to avoid single use ones as much as possible

littlepeas · 31/07/2020 08:22

Ten at the moment - five from Boden and five tie dye ones I got on Etsy. DH is using the disposable ones that are provided at his work, so they are just for me and 3 dc. I'm nervous about keeping on top of washing them - going to see how I get on with these for a bit and will get some more if I need to.

dottiedodah · 31/07/2020 08:50

I worked out I have spent £41.00 on face masks! Then some more for the family .Keep one or two in the car, a couple on me, and some st home .Dont want to be caught out as it were !

Sheknowsaboutme · 31/07/2020 09:06

None.

DappledThings · 31/07/2020 09:20

How much shopping are people doing that they need this many? Or is it because of public transport?

I made one weeks ago. I've been on the train once so I wore it then. Since last week I've been into a card shop and a cafe on one day, the village shop once and Dunelm yesterday. Even if I washed it every day I would only need two.

Marmite27 · 31/07/2020 09:22

18 disposable ones left out of two packs of 10. 4 reusable ones. And many many buff/multi use as we had them already for sports/ winter.

Mrsjayy · 31/07/2020 09:24

Many people are back to work and need a mask in work some people are starting to go our and about so are wearing a mask which we were advised to do at the very start back in March.

JaceLancs · 31/07/2020 09:31

3 washable ones - the sort that have replaceable filters
2 packets of disposables

yelyah22 · 31/07/2020 09:53

I've got 4 washable ones, and then there's about 10 disposable ones in the car in case we forget them.

Lougle · 31/07/2020 09:54

I'm making my own. Costs about 40p per mask for the fabric.

Aragog · 31/07/2020 09:58

How much shopping are people doing that they need this many?

I've been in France for a fortnight. We are wearing them every day - to go indoor anywhere, to go to the toilet in a restaurant even if sat outside, to use public transport, to go the public areas of a hot, inside museums, etc and outdoors if feels more busy/crowded.

At home I will need them for shopping, cafes and restaurants, if we want to visit anywhere indoors.

I'd rather have more so that I can change them daily and not have to wash them every day.

Jeremyironsnothing · 31/07/2020 09:59

Apparently the test of a good mask is if you can't blow out a match whilst wearing it.

Jeremyironsnothing · 31/07/2020 10:01

Oh and 10 between 4 of us, and some disposables in case there aren't any clean ones.

TrickyKid · 31/07/2020 10:01

6 washable ones.
