Would you be happy with the finding of this cake for £80

I ordered a graduation cake from a lady who I have used for years and all of the cakes have been beautiful which is why I've returned every time. However I picked up this yesterday and I'm a little disappointed in the size and finish compared to the picture I sent of how I would like it. I've messaged her to tell her I was a little disappointed with it but she hasn't replied so am I being unreasonable? She wasn't in when I picked it up she left it with her teen son to hand over so couldn't really say anything there and then.

@Handsoffisback

Ok scrap my last post to you.. Going by what you’ve sniffed out it’s not JA as I doubt she’s got teenage kids! Lol

Although I don’t think it’s a reverse as she shown the pics in the box, then another put out on what seems to be a table to get ready to cut into as there are plates in the background.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 26/07/2020 20:51

Honestly I'm amazed what people pay "professionals" for special occasion cakes. I could knock that out in a couple of hours (I enjoy baking). ingredients £20 max, you are paying these people like £25 an hour?!

My sister made my huge 4 tier wedding cake (it was stunning). Costs were about £75 and she put in maybe 10-12 hrs on it. Friends paid amounts like £800 for similar, some of these bakers are either raking it in or are not very fast at it!

@Handsoffisback

OP has previously said she drives alltheusernameshavebeentaken . It may be a small detail or it may be an indication of something else.
Shock

@Handsoffisback Lol @ DCI

Yes you really are..

BranchAndPoppy · 26/07/2020 20:57

If this is all bullshit, what a weird thing to bullshit about? Why would someone do that?

Kittykat93 · 26/07/2020 20:59

I'm so confused.

Plot twist: OP made the cake. Wants to see if it’s acceptable.

Confused
tiredvommachine · 26/07/2020 21:13

JA-Jane Austen? Hmm

WhattheHhashappened · 26/07/2020 21:14

I've just googled naked cakes. Jesus, someone's pulled a blinder making that shit a thing shock
Talk about the emperor's new clothes...
"That finish is really crap"
"Oh no, dear, haven't you heard? It's called the naked look, everybody's going mad for it". And millions of gobshites immediately jump on board and make it a thing. 😂

I agree! 100%

Puds11 · 26/07/2020 21:15

Urgh only on MN

FindingNeeeeemo · 26/07/2020 21:16

What a weird thread.

If you've previously had much higher standard cakes from her maybe sge is outsourcing work to others?

If this is a reverse, keep practicing before launching your business Wink

Lordamighty · 26/07/2020 21:26

Couldn’t it just be that people change details to make themselves less identifiable? It doesn’t make the cake any better though.

Sweeptheleg · 26/07/2020 21:33

This could be the mother of the owner of the account foxsakke posting. That would fit with her not being able to drive (and her daughter picking up the cake for her).

Chig · 26/07/2020 21:34

I wouldn’t be happy paying £80 for that.

I'm sure I remember a troll thread about a cake that was nothing like the cake the OP had ordered [[🤔]{

CodenameVillanelle · 26/07/2020 21:41

Oops I fucked up my emoji

Ohtherewearethen · 26/07/2020 21:55

Hmm, bit weird about the conflicting info on this thread and previous threads, OP. Are you sure you didn't make it and are trying to see if you'll get away with it?

Consideredopinion · 26/07/2020 22:06

Come back op.

Maybe she's just changing the odd detail, I do that all the time to preserve anonymity

FlamingoAndJohn · 26/07/2020 22:35

JA made a cake for my friends birthday. It was amazing and looked a lot better than that. This was 25 years ago though!
