Am I the only person who has hair that is just shit no matter what!

As per title I have the worst kind of hair, thick and frizzy which need daily straightening only to frizz and kink out all over the place despite using numerous products which claim to stop this happening.

I can't even put my hair up as it becomes limp and bits fall out the hair band.

I've tried long hair, short hair, layers etc and yet I still have shit hair!

I actually feel like shaving it off!

Anyone have any miracles to help?

Perhaps you are using too much product. Have you ever tried not washing it? I haven't myself but I've read on here that eventually your hair sorts itself out.

CastleCrasher · 25/07/2020 18:25

Maybe post a pic of your hair, someone might be able to advise?
Yours sounds quite like mine- my miracle products were loreal elvive extraordinary oil shampoo followed by Cantu curl cream. Took nearly 40 years to find a combo that worked!

steff13 · 25/07/2020 18:25

Have you looked at naturallycurly.com?

SmileEachDay · 25/07/2020 18:26

Stop straightening it.

Use products designed for curly hair and salt spray products so that frizz becomes texture. Embrace the volume.

Have a short, blunt fringe (if that will suit your face) because that immediately makes the wildness of the rest look on purpose.

Here endeth the sermon.

knotweed · 25/07/2020 19:31

I have frizzy hair not curly, when I've tried to curl it it just goes bushy.

I did try curly girl method before but it never really did anything.

I tried a fringe also but as soon as I got hot and sweaty it would curl up or stick to my head.

I have tried growing it to see if it would help with the frizz but it doesn't grow round the front and I look like I have a mullet!

I need to wash it daily as it's wild in the morning and bushy frizz, I tried a silk pillow but it made no difference.

I envy those who can wash their hair and leave it and it dries so straight and shiny

Can you take a photo? Blur your face out?

MinesAPintOfTea · 25/07/2020 19:46

I look fantastic with a French braid with a few wavy wisps escaping. I always have a French braid because a French braid put in slightly damp hair is the only way to tame the frizz cloud on my head.

mbosnz · 25/07/2020 19:47

Nope. You're not the only one. I have fine, straight hair, and ever decreasing amounts of it. I hate the bloody stuff.

Merryoldgoat · 25/07/2020 19:47

Have you tried a keratin treatment?

Babymamamama · 25/07/2020 19:49

OP maybe have a look at keratin straightening or even Japanese straightening? It would transform your hair.

Flev · 25/07/2020 19:55

@mbosnz exactly the same here. And a washed out dark blond colour as well.

knotweed · 25/07/2020 19:56

It's straight right now but I shall take a photo in the morning and show it before drying and straightening.

I she had it straightened in salons before but long term my hair broke off.

I always had thick hair until having children and now it's bushy when blow dried but limp and thin once straightened.

It's such a pest

Following this as mine is also awful. It’s naturally curly and there’s lots of it but my hair is very fine and brittle. If I have it curly it looks nice for an hour and then turns to frizz. If I straighten it, it looks ok for an hour and then starts to frizz Confused Also no matter how often it’s trimmed or conditioned it feels incredibly dry on the ends almost like synthetic hair. It hasn’t been helped by the fact loads fell out after I had my DD 20 months ago and now I have loads of short bits sticking up all around my face that will just go flat no matter what I do! I used to spend a fortune on products but nothing made a difference so currently I just wash and condition and stick hair serum on which I think makes the problem worse but I’d never get a brush through it otherwise!

WisestIsShe · 25/07/2020 20:06

I'd love to have thick hair, even if it was frizzy. I have very very fine baby hair which always looks crap.

xxKatie9806xx · 25/07/2020 20:09

Your hair sounds like mine. It really is such a pain in the arse!!

LyndaSnellsSniff · 25/07/2020 20:10

I have stupidly straight hair that is also very fine. It sucks. I’d love to be able to put waves in it that didn’t fall out by the time I get downstairs.

I’d love thick hair!

damnthatanxiety · 25/07/2020 20:13

Looking forward to a photo

SmileEachDay · 25/07/2020 20:14

Ok. Take a photo in the morning.

Honestly, you need to find a way of working with it. Straight is not your hair’s thing...

Callipygion · 25/07/2020 20:18

Mines changed in the last few years. It used to be dead straight and shiny, but now it goes frizzy and bushy and I can’t deal with it as I don’t know what to do with it. I’m not sure if it’s menopause or medication I’m on, or both, and because I’m going grey but colour it, so I suppose the texture of grey is different too? I’ve got some gel thing I put on before drying but I don’t think it does anything. I hate my hair now too, so hoping there are some good tips to try coming along soon!

Pikachubaby · 25/07/2020 20:20

I think the french plait sounds a good idea (if your hair is long enough

My hair is fine a frizzy and lots of it, it only looks good the second day after washing. Then progressively more manageable until I need to wash it again on day 5

I keep it long, not wash too often, no heat drying no straighteners but just roll it up and wear it “up” for a few days, with some leave-in conditioner.

Day 2-4 after washing it looks smooth enough to wear down

I think you wash and heat damage yours too much, maybe?

Trailing1 · 25/07/2020 20:24

My hair is a bastard. I cannot style it at all. Its lank and thin and just yuck.

PatsyDahling · 25/07/2020 20:30

Yes! I hate my hair. I would change that before I'd change my weight or face and they aren't perfect either.

What annoys me most is how much effort I have to put in just for it to still look completely poor to average. I wake up and it's greasy. I wash and blow dry it and it's just dry and frizzy, it's neither curly nor straight, just frizz. But greasy on top.

Despite having quite a lot of hair it's very fine and often looks flat to my head and lank. I've messed about with colours too and so at the moment it's a washed out brown with loads of dry frizzy split ends. I honestly hate it and am so envious of friends with thick luscious hair who can just wake up, give it a quick brush and go....and still look fab.

Lactarius · 25/07/2020 21:20

Could be worse - my hair regularly catches fire when I'm using the forge. Doesn't do much for the styling but the smell is even worse

FuzzyPuffling · 25/07/2020 21:24

I have hair exactly like yours, OP. Nothing makes it look sophisticated or elegant. It always looks like hedge-backwards hair, and feels like straw. Please let me know if you find the answer!

ShebaShimmyShake · 25/07/2020 21:28

If it's thick and frizzy, it's probably curly and constantly trying to straighten it is a losing battle. Let it curl. Look up the Curly Girl method.
