To ask if you are OK with your daughter's subs being spent on this?

I've just come to update you on my case against Girlguiding, where they expelled me for raising safeguarding concerns and for asking why we had to believe in inner gender identity to be a leader.
Girlguiding have spent AT LEAST £35,000 and probably more like £100,000 of the subs you pay for your daughter to go to Rainbows, Brownies or Guides, on defending a case against me, a committed leader who wants to make sure girls are safe and leaders have freedom of expression.

Full text of my update in the next post so as not to bore you to death!

@Binterested

There are 14000 men in prison for sexual crimes. 140 women. That’s the ratio.

We all know this and suddenly we have to pretend it’s not true.

So it's not only men then? Hmm
Staplemaple · 24/07/2020 20:45

Where are the institutions that are supposed to protect our children?

They have all gone woke, and care more about pandering to a tiny minority than upholding safeguarding for those they are meant to protect.

Binterested · 24/07/2020 20:46

Look, if you want to take your chances with your daughter then feel free....

Picass0L1ne · 24/07/2020 20:46

Some people shouldn’t be in charge of the safeguarding of children if they think being female means you are not a risk to children end of. No school in the land takes the stance that women can’t be potential threats to children.

MitziK · 24/07/2020 20:47

@Picass0L1ne

What injuries would need clothes removed? 🤔
You've not been a first aider, then.

Leg injuries, broken bones, cuts, burns, scalds, CPR when a defibrillator is available, plus it is perfectly possible for a girl to SH (upper thighs are a common site) or have a potentially infectious rash that needs to be assessed.

Plus illnesses/anaphylaxis/seizures can occur when children are getting changed or in their nightclothes. I've had to, at one place, go into the changing room to help a child who was taken ill whilst changing and an ex colleague had to assist somebody who had a injury to a buttock (turned out to be a huge splinter which needed to be removed at hospital, but it was initially thought to be a sting or bite - not seeing the inch long chunk of wood could have meant they were merely given an ice pack instead of sterile removal and a tetanus shot) - there are plenty of situations where it's either necessary to remove or clothing or you see more a child's body than would be appropriate under any other circumstance.

Thank you for doing this OP. This is the reason why my daughters will never join GG. It's not about the risk being minimal, it's about basic safeguarding. Anyone who doesn't see an issue with male teenagers (and at that age presumably they have not received any surgery nor cross hormones, so essentially fully male) sharing a room with girls, or male supervisors supervising girls' quarters, shouldn't be working with children. It's not only the risk of assault, it's the risk of pregnancy, STDs, and the basic right of girls to privacy and dignity. I can't imagine another scenario where that would be acceptable. The gaslighting of both girls and parents is really despicable.

Staplemaple · 24/07/2020 20:48

No they don't, but men are a much, much bigger threat.

Binterested · 24/07/2020 20:48

Here’s what is a risk - keeping secrets from parents.

Placing girls with men who have a 100 times greater propensity to sexually abuse than women.

Pretending these facts don’t matter.

You have a massive cheek suing this organisation then complaining they are wasting money. If you don't agree with the way they operate then resign.

Captainj1 · 24/07/2020 20:48

Why do we need a female only organisation? I get it in sports above a certain age when physiology creates performance differentials

KatieAlcock · 24/07/2020 20:48

@mummyoneboy19 and yet, I know leaders have been told to pass on any concerns about leaders not following policy to a higher level. Strange, eh?

Because some people care about protecting others. If people just resign then nothing changes, so what's the point?

BeanbagMcTavish · 24/07/2020 20:52

Thank you for doing this, KatieAlcock .

On behalf of me and my daughter.

MaryHeck · 24/07/2020 20:52

Behind you all the way, OP.

GG has lost the fucking plot. My DD was a Brownie for a few years and due to go up to Guides when this shitstorm started.

I pulled her out and I will never allow her near GG again until they stop this utter madness. Absolutely piss poor that a girl’s organisation doesn’t know what a female is, and doesn’t seem to give a shit about safeguarding.

MrsWombat · 24/07/2020 20:52

Good luck OP it's a very important issue.

Ragwort · 24/07/2020 20:53

Why do people have such faith in DBS checks? All it means is that someone hasn't been 'caught' breaking the Law, I was involved in a Youth Leadership programme, we all had DBS (enhanced checks), one of the team was systematically abusing young people but just hadn't been 'caught'. They mean very little.

Picass0L1ne · 24/07/2020 20:53

Have worked in schools my whole working life and the need to remove intimate children’s’ clothing out of rec is rare. When it happens you are supposed to have two members of staff.

KatieAlcock · 24/07/2020 20:53

@Captainj1 I always said that I'd remain in a single sex organisation while women earned less than men and while women and girls were subject to domestic violence more than men. That day hasn't come yet. Gender stereotyping is only getting worse. So yes, still a need for a single sex organisation.

Why the fuck should she do that? Take a stand for what you believe in and bravely fight for women and girls. Good luck Katie and Maya.

Rose789 · 24/07/2020 20:53

@slipperywhensparticus yes all guide leaders are DBS checked
And yes you need to put all of your names down
So if my legal name was Anne smith but I went by my step fathers surname Jones
I would write Anne Smith
Known as Anne Jones
Changed name on x date to Anne Brown when married

TheTrickyWitch · 24/07/2020 20:54

Katie, sorry you are getting such a hard time on here. What you are doing is really important.

It amazes me how many people are willing the ignore the needs of vulnerable women and girls falling over themselves to be woke about trans issues. What about all the Muslim girl guides who are effectively excluded by this surreptitious policy change? Or girls that have suffered sexual assault?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 24/07/2020 20:55

Am I right in saying that a girl who identifies as a transboy would be asked to leave, and a woman who transitioned to be a transman would also have to stand down as a Guider? I find that worrying too.

ShiveringCoyote · 24/07/2020 20:55

We need female organisations because study after study after study shows that when an organisation is mixed sex the dynamics change and males dominate activities and conversations.

LokiOdinson · 24/07/2020 20:56

*People arnt saying they are molesters ffs

I would have genuine questions

Question one
Are they dbs checked

Question two
Does that cover any/all offences in their previous name? Is it joined up?

Because no one seems to understand that Question if fred Smith becomes felicia jones and fred smith was arrested for child sex offences will that be picked up when felicia Jones is dbs checked?*

If they are DBS checked fully under any names they've used and come through clear, you wouldn't mind?

Do you expect female employees to also be DBS checked?
