What’s the problem with Trans?

412 replies

Karenista · 14/07/2020 17:32

Posting for traffic:
Can someone please take the time to explain to me what the issue is with trans women? Or trans rights in general?

I consider myself a feminist, but since reading all the posts about publicly ‘coming out as GC’, I now feel... almost... not feminist enough because I believe in trans rights.

Where’s the middle ground? Or am I now going to feel alienated from ‘GC feminists?’

Please stop using black.people this way.

Black people have been treated horrifically by some activists who think that black women and butch lesbians cloud the definition of woman so much that the next logical step is allowimg males to in to the definition.

Its a highly racist analogy.

And not letting men pee next to little girls is not the same as race segregation. Black people were denied basic human rights. Still are.Not being allowed to use the facilities meant for members of the opposite sex when those people do not consent is not a human right .

@Witchcraftandhokum
Have you read any of the links I suggested?

G5000 · 14/07/2020 19:36

5'9'' white guy - can I be a woman?
Woke people: of course you can be a woman!
Can I also be Chinese? Um..yeah..I guess..
Can I be 6'5''? No! Because you're not!

ktp100 · 14/07/2020 19:37

If that's true about the school with all mixed toilets it's an absolute disgrace.

No way will the girls in that school feel safe. They will also feel shame.

Teenage boys can be extremely sexual in their approach to girls. I saw it with my own eyes when teaching. I have had to speak to boys repeatedly about their predatory behaviour and the thought of them being in an unwatched space with vulnerable girls is genuinely frightening.

@thirdfiddle

Backseat, no, I think under the rules the basin also has to be in the enclosed area. A local park has this type of loo, I like it, it feels very safe and there's room to take a pram inside if you need to.
Thanks for clarifying - I think in that case the school mentioned isn't acting within regulation, so could be reported. I like those all enclosed loos too, but I know obviously they aren't possible everywhere due to space and cost.

By all means listen to the views on here, but please find a trans person and ask them about their life too. Again... trans posters are here!

@Crankley
I'll bite There's a problem with a trans man placed in a women's prison when he still has a penis and has a history of convictions for sexually assaulting women

A trans man is biologically female, think you got mixed up there - you mean trans woman

amusedtodeath1 · 14/07/2020 19:46

The only problem is self ID, as it stands you had to live as your gender for a certain length of time and undergo psychological evaluation before legally changing gender. Self ID removes this safeguarding allowing anyone to enter female only spaces by saying "I identify as a woman".

Get rid of self ID and they're really isn't an issue at all.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 14/07/2020 19:46

@catgirl1976 gosh, you sound delightful. Every human has a right to be who they want to be and to be respected for it.

@amijustparanoidorjuststoned No, they fucking don't. And that frankly absurd attitude is what's causing all this shit.

And yeah, I'll go for 'stoned'. You're so far removed from reality, that you must be!

SarahTancredi · 14/07/2020 19:47

We have an insight into the lives of women though. And that's why we will fight firbour rights to sex segregated spaces. Our safety is more important than someone's feelings

Sorry if this has been mentioned as I only have time to skim read at the moment but OP just today in Blackpool a 'woman' (according to all the news reports you will find) was sentenced for accessing images of child abuse whilst in hospital. That person is male. Does it not concern you that this is reported and recorded as the crime of a woman?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 14/07/2020 19:47

I'm talking about the level of hatred, by sheeple who decide they're TERF's with absolutely no experience of the lives of trans-people And by being so very broad, all encompassing statement you are entirely ingoring the posters who are here, posting, responding.

That they don't agree with you is one thing, to assert so freely that they ae clueless is, again, utterly disingenuous!

And, as usual, show us the hatred that we may get it removed!

Witchcraftandhokum · 14/07/2020 19:48

Milleniumhaswalledgarden please see my last post.

@ktp100

Sadly true. I am too terrified to say anything in case I lose my job. The department I work in are extremely woke. But I don’t think any of them have dug very far beyond TWAW to what that actually means for women’s rights.

To those who would harass me about being a TERF I would point out that I have often and vigorously defended the pupils who identify as a different gender and have changed pronouns. I won’t have bullying if any kind and for any reason in my classroom. Everyone deserves to be safe and feel safe.

Pupils should be able to change their names and wear what ever parts of the uniform they feel most comfortable with. But sex segregated sports and changing rooms are important for the safety and dignity of all pupils.

A third space would probably be a kinder and better option for all involved.
