Bluesheep8 · 14/07/2020 14:19

Flowers009 · 14/07/2020 15:12

Nope I'm not slim size 12 however my mum was a larger woman so I wouldn't shame someone else like I wouldmt want my mum to be

Flowers009 · 14/07/2020 15:13

Was typing that as I was walking

willitbetonight · 14/07/2020 16:25

I look awful when overweight. I avoid mirrors and photos with my family. I have much more confidence when slim. I'm the same person either way though.

willitbetonight · 14/07/2020 16:27

Ps I'm 5ft 8. Size 16 is obese weight category on me. Size 14 is very overweight. Size 12 would be a bmi of 25. Even a size 10 is around bmi of 23.

OP you've said several times that overweight people are subject to comments, criticism and scrutiny that slimmer people aren't subjected to.
It's not true. That's your confirmation bias telling you that. Skinny and slim people are criticised, commented on, shamed etc. all the damn time!!

Ori38 · 14/07/2020 16:39

I couldn’t give a toss. Sorry to sound goady but really, what a strange post. As if anyone cares what size anyone is

LouJ85 · 16/07/2020 08:35

@Marpan

Lots of overweight and mildly overweight people are also completely rude to thin people.

“Eat a burger”
“Oh I bet she won’t eat carbs”
“Bet she throws up”

Works both ways. You don’t always know the reason for someone being thin, your post just proves that.

Agreed. If does work both ways. "Why would you want to look like a stick insect anyway"... "bones are for dogs"... "god she needs a sandwich!".... etc etc etc. I'm a a size 6-8 and gym fit, and I get judged for that, too,
LouJ85 · 16/07/2020 08:43

@Emeraldshamrock

Nobody would ever think telling an anorexic to just eat more I was an anorexic teen that is exactly what they told me. They also threaten you with a section and force feeding if you disagree with the food diary.
Yes, they do.
CorianderLord · 16/07/2020 10:04

@emeraldshamrock - I have also had one. No it wasn't peer pressure but it did begin as a fear of becoming fat and a desire to be thin. This was likely started through societal pressure and Tv shows like the ones I described.

Obviously it then develops into something worse. But often, as in my case, it starts with a fear of fatness.

Not every sufferer is the same - so please don't dismiss mine because it differs from yours.

CorianderLord · 16/07/2020 10:06

@nicelegs I don't hate anyone either. I don't mean hate or fear of fat people but of fatness itself.

The shows show it as undesirable, call people 'lardies', 'massive fatties', 'slobs'. If you are a child watching them it gets into your brain that this is the 'WORST POSSIBLE THING' because of their language.

CorianderLord · 16/07/2020 10:10

And yes, as a PP said - they're basically freak shows disguised as 'helpful'
