to wonder how people with Michael Jackson tattoos feel now?

Was just watching an episode of tattoo fixers and there's a girl on there who had a huge MJ memorial tat on her back. The guy tattooing her also had a MJ tattoo. I also work with someone who has MJ tattooed on their shoulder.

I mean, would people feel ok with having had Rolf Harris or similar tattooed on them?

What are happening to these tattoos? Do you think a lot of people have had them removed?

Curious to know what people think about this...

It's horrifying that some people will defend a sex offender and literally victim-blame children...

I agree, what is the mentality of paedophile-deniers?

Is it part a general knee-jerk fear-based pattern? Or is it particular to MJ that some people are so attached to his music that they’re prepared to blank out the most heinous of crimes just to keep listening to it?

Either way it’s morally revolting and it enables child-abuse.

AlexisCarringtonColbyDexter · 11/07/2020 20:20

Its cognitive dissonance- the psychological phenomenon that you cannot hold two opposing thoughts at the same time without causing yourself severe psychological discomfort.

Eg. You smoke 50 a day and yet also know that smoking causes lung cancer/early death. You could choose to give up but you dont want to, so instead you minimise the risk eg "well it wont happen to me!", "I know plenty of people who smoke 50 a day and got to age 90" etc etc

TatianaBis · 11/07/2020 20:21

I don't really care either way, and I'm not an MJ fan, but, surely anyone can see a TV interview and a load of websites/videos that could show literally anything the producer wanted them to show, are no substitute for a criminal trial?

Apart from the fact that this is super disrespectful to the brave men who came forward with their experiences, what do you think a criminal trial proves?

One could equally say a criminal trial with expensive lawyers is no substitute for lengthy interviews with the actual victims and summaries of the existing evidence.

DollyDoneMore · 11/07/2020 20:21

Michael Jackson was never found guilty in a court of law.

Neither were Jimmy Savile or Fred West.

BobFleming · 11/07/2020 20:23

I would suspect that if you're the type of person that has a Michael Jackson tattoo, his suspected paedophilia is going to be ignored/denied.

Sassanacs · 11/07/2020 20:29

Bad, bad, really really bad...

Artykitty666 · 11/07/2020 20:33

I wouldn't get a tattoo of a famous person but with mj, who I believe is guilty, I still believe he's an amazing musician and I love to listen to him. His music and his crime is separate to me. That said, I'd probably get a tattoo covered up because I know other people don't separate the two and I wouldnt want to cause upset or judgment.

SomethingDebonair · 11/07/2020 20:35

@TatianaBis

I've watched Finding Neverland, is there something else I should watch? If people are going to claim such an awful thing then there should really be evidence behind it

Their testimony is their evidence. What evidence would convince you at this point?

Actual evidence. After Alex and Slazo last year, it's impossible to just believe someone, especially when the accused is in possession of a multi million estate.

I've been both sexually assaulted and raped, I don't expect anyone to believe me without evidence.

BankofNook · 11/07/2020 21:37

His music and his crime is separate to me

Why do people turn a blind eye to sexual abuse or minimise sexual abuse simply because the perpetrator is good at their job (i.e., famous)? For other examples see Mike Tyson, Roman Polanski, Luc Besson, Kirk Douglas, CeeLo Green, Bryan Singer, Woody Allen, Kobe Bryant - to name but a few. All charged with, convicted of, or accused of rape, sexual assault, or child abuse and all still held up as role models because their "art/talent is separate from their crimes". This is what allows them to get away with those crimes.

leftovercoffeecake · 11/07/2020 21:46

Even if you separate the content from the person who created it, you’re still supporting a sex offender/rapist/paedophile/abuser etc. It gives them views, attention, a platform and brushes over what they did.

If my boss was a rapist, I wouldn’t want them to stay in their job just because they’re good at it and it doesn’t relate to their crime.

TatianaBis · 11/07/2020 22:08

Actual evidence. After Alex and Slazo last year, it's impossible to just believe someone, especially when the accused is in possession of a multi million estate

That says far more about your own materialist mindset than it does Wade and James’s testimony.

I've been both sexually assaulted and raped, I don't expect anyone to believe me without evidence.

Really so when you first confided in someone you provided forensic evidence? There is in fact no evidence that can ever ‘prove’ rape which you should know.

TatianaBis · 11/07/2020 22:17

Even if you separate the content from the person who created it, you’re still supporting a sex offender/rapist/paedophile/abuser etc.

Yes. Supporting sex offenders enables the crime. Savile, Harris, Jackson got away with it for so long because people did not believe the whistleblowers.

Accusing paedophile victims of lying for money because you’re not prepared to let go of their music is a particularly grim piece of moral repugnance.

MrsDJ30 · 11/07/2020 22:22

Not a die hard fan, not got a MJ tattoo , but there’s a lot of really conflicting evidence against Wade that doesn’t get enough airtime.

I don’t know what to think, but I don’t think anyone knows the full story yet.

whattimeisitrightnow · 11/07/2020 22:27

I feel like I’m talking at some brick walls here, so the people I’m addressing likely don’t care either way, but what the hell, I’ll say it one more time: he admitted to having children sleep over with him in his bed. There is no innocent explanation to that. There just isn’t. The whole “he’s childlike and wants to live the youth he never got to” shite was ridiculous. Nothing else needs to be said, yet people insist on doing the wide-eyed innocent “oh, where is the actual evidence?”.

TatianaBis · 11/07/2020 22:31

Ah yes the people who demand perfect victims in order to believe them because just don’t want to give up believing in the paedophile.

MJ’s British biographer has a lot to say about Wade and James because he now looks like a fool.

TatianaBis · 11/07/2020 22:32

That was @MrsDJ30

TatianaBis · 11/07/2020 22:38

he admitted to having children sleep over with him in his bed. There is no innocent explanation to that. There just isn’t.

I believed Jordan, but it was the Bashir interview that convinced me he was a paedophile because he basically admitted it. After that it was only a matter of time before the truth came out.

slipperywhensparticus · 11/07/2020 22:50

I can't believe he was innocent

He was very damaged by his upbringing but that is no excuse

His family will (hopefully) bear that on their conscious

sst1234 · 11/07/2020 22:55

Sorry to go off topic, but tattoos are nasty full stop. When elderly people look at their saggy tattoos in the mirror, ewwww

MysweetAudrina · 11/07/2020 22:58

Bad?

wildone84 · 11/07/2020 23:05

@Pelleas

would people feel ok with having had Rolf Harris or similar tattooed on them?

Sorry, can't help laughing at the idea of anyone ever getting a Rolf Harris tattoo!

Made me laugh too!
Sugarpea123 · 11/07/2020 23:11

Innocent, so fine I'd Imagine.

DeeTractor · 12/07/2020 02:28

"When elderly people look at their saggy tattoos in the mirror, ewwww"

Yeh because people with tattoos often spend time looking at them in the mirror 🤣

BitOfFun · 12/07/2020 02:41

Can we not just stick to talking about ill-advised tattoos?

squeekums · 12/07/2020 02:44

They in denial he did anything wrong. It was all a media beat up by those who just didn't like him supposedly.
They deluded. It's rather sad and pathetic really
