Is it cruel to throw sea monkeys away?

MIL got the the kids sea monkeys for Xmas I've only been the one bothered about them. They freak me out more than anything and can't bare the thought of bringing them to the new house.

Are these the type of pets you give away? Are they pets I don't know 🤣

Dd had some once. The inevitable happened where the little tank was filthy and we read the instructions to see we could dry them out and start again.
Put it in the sunlight in the kitchen window and slowly over months it evaporated.

We went on holiday. My mother came in to water the plants. I called her one night and she said “I’ve bleached that horrible pot in your window”...

She was genuinely mortified, tough I suspect she had no idea what a sea monkey even was.

Mice can be fancy? It’s the term used to differentiate ‘pet’ mice from wild. Pet mice are ‘fancy mice’

@My2catsarefab Apparently male sea monkeys are vanishingly rare, as they mostly reproduce asexually*. They can mate with female brine shrimp but only those outside their own populations. Bob must be ever so frustrated, I think you need to buy some more friends for him and let him sow his wild oats.

*I originally mistyped that as assexually, which I think is something quite different and is only done at Center Parcs.

@Cadent Honestly I don't know what I can do to help you. I'm cheerily giggling over water fleas and enlarged photos of man eating Bob/ettes, fancy mice and radish cigars.
Either get some sea monkeys or some mindful colouring. This thread has been a source of amusement for many. (Other than WOKE pearl clutchers).
Unless you're going to get upset over flushing your unexpected threadworm I really can't see your point.

It seems to me that the fact they are small, incredibly ugly, dont require significant financial outlay, don’t really ‘bond’ with you or do anything interesting like say a cat or dog makes them worthless in the eyes of many people.
