To ask if you are going Out, out tomorrow evening?

The media coverage almost seems to encourage people to relax the lockdown and have a blow out!
So I'm wondering....
YABU = off out, need to let off steam.
YANBU = staying safe at home, there's a pandemic.

Anyone else being given the impression we are being encouraged here?

Pubs aren't allowed to open before 6am tomorrow.

Bluesheep8 · 03/07/2020 17:28

Plus I associate drinking with relaxing and I imagine it'll be anything but.

ListeningQuietly · 03/07/2020 17:28

Pub in the city centre is opening at midnight tonight I believe.
THey will get a rather nasty police visit if they do.
The rule is 6am

Idontbelieveit12 · 03/07/2020 17:33

Can’t think of anything worse at the moment to be honest!

fussychica · 03/07/2020 17:45

Not a chance.

LookAtThatCritter · 03/07/2020 17:52

I’m going to a bbq and 4th July fireworks.

incognitomum · 03/07/2020 18:07

Going away for a few different nights in different places. Staying in a couple of pubs. Can't wait for real ale on draught 🍺

Mornington3303 · 03/07/2020 18:13

Not a chance. Thankfully the BBC have not encouraged people to go out- many men will be wanting to gawk at Maya Jama, would have been different if Mrs Brown's Boys was on.

EnlightenedOwl · 03/07/2020 18:27

Not tomorrow but have booked a table for a meal out next week

MitziK · 03/07/2020 18:35

There's no option for

'Christ, no, it'll be like a battlefield out there with overexcited people getting pissed and people kicking off because they can't get into the pubs'.

I'll be at home. Listening to the sirens.

Scruffyoak · 03/07/2020 18:36

We are already in cornwall !

Lindy2 · 03/07/2020 18:41

No. Not for me.

I don't intend to go in a pub or restaurant for a long time yet. I'm much more comfortable sticking with takeaways and a glass of wine at home.

HumphreyGoodmanswife · 03/07/2020 18:44

Not going out, but not because of the pandemic. I'm happily antisocial and couldn't think of anything worse than going out around pubs on a Saturday night anyway. Good on all that do though, we need to get the economy moving. I do bank work in a department attached to A&E and quite frankly we're used to Saturday nights, Christmas binging, NY parties etc. It's been dead for months in A&E, I don't think the country will fall to bits just because of one busy weekend again Hmm. It's like we're used to doing nothing and want to carry on this way. Things need to start returning to normal.

ListeningQuietly · 03/07/2020 19:32

Well colour me surprised
my local yob central pub
open at noon and have done a FAB Facebook post explaining their rules
and making VERY clear that miscreants will be thrown out
and that eejits will result in the pub being closed again

If the Landlords are being that careful, there is hope
then again they are a Free House, not a Spoons

userxx · 03/07/2020 21:26

@HumphreyGoodmanswife Great post 👍.

octobersky19 · 03/07/2020 21:27

Nope, not for a long time.

Millie2013 · 03/07/2020 21:31

Nope, because it doesn’t sound like much fun at the moment, we’ve got a 7yo and a trip to the pub is a rare treat, I want to wait until I can fully enjoy it

Shinyletsbebadguys · 03/07/2020 21:43

Nope but nothing to do with the Virus but because we are anti social to be honest. Someone told me earlier I was fortunate they had lifted things just before my birthday on Monday and were patently mildly offended that I am still not going out.

I'm old tired and cranky so can't think of anything worse and pretty much that's been the case for about 2 years.

U2HasTheEdge · 03/07/2020 22:41

No. I am going to see a friend.

I want to go to the pub and restaurant when it is normal, no queues etc.

I am not worried about getting CV, but I just don't think it will be an enjoyable experience with the restrictions.

delilahbucket · 03/07/2020 22:52

We're not going out at all. We are going out for a meal at our favourite local restaurant on Sunday but they were never massively busy on a Sunday tea time anyway. We're very keen to support the local businesses reopening but that doesn't include out drinking all night. Besides which, we have a child and no childcare 😁.

Splattherat · 04/07/2020 13:22

This just about sums it up

To ask if you are going Out, out tomorrow evening?
GlottalStrop · 04/07/2020 13:37

I love that Splatterhat.

GlottalStrop · 04/07/2020 13:39

Splattherat even.

ChavvySexPond · 04/07/2020 14:01

I can't say I approve of the government gambling with the nation's health.

There was a crammed together extremely UN socially distanced queue outside our local rough pub this morning at dawn. Clearly I do not share priorities with those people.

To ask if you are going Out, out tomorrow evening?
Nosuchluck · 04/07/2020 16:17

I've just got back from a lovely pub lunch and just wanted to let you all know I really enjoyed it . Tables had all been slightly moved but not so much so that the layout felt weird. We ordered food on an app and the staff brought it to our table. The atmosphere was good and the whole set up was much more 'normal' than I expected. Time now to relax for a couple of hours before my evening out.
