The media coverage almost seems to encourage people to relax the lockdown and have a blow out!
So I'm wondering....
YABU = off out, need to let off steam.
YANBU = staying safe at home, there's a pandemic.

Anyone else being given the impression we are being encouraged here?

No way. I dont think I would enjoy the experience one bit.

AnnaNimmity · 03/07/2020 15:38

yup! Going out for dinner. Can't wait.

MorrisZapp · 03/07/2020 15:39

Lol at the armageddon like predictions. A few weeks ago, everyone was the same about Primark. One lady on here said 'I won't go to Primark on the first day because it'll be carnage! Worse than the sales! Clothes strewn on the floor and staff besieged by rampaging massed shoppers!' etc etc.

In practice of course Primark, like Sainsbury's, operated a strict one in one out policy and their stores were not allowed by law to become busier than on a wet Tuesday morning in February. No second spike happened.

Primark doesn't sell alcohol, obviously. But almost all landlords will behave responsibly - their license is at stake. There will inevitably be idiots making scenes and this will make the news, but the vast majority of pub goers will have no choice but to act like grown ups.

acocadochocolate · 03/07/2020 15:40

No! I don't want to get mixed up with drunks. I shall be staying at home.

Puzzld · 03/07/2020 15:43

Yes, we are going out out and I can’t wait!

If there was going to be a second wave it would have happened after all the protests, beach going and VE Day...

imstillfurloughed · 03/07/2020 15:47

No because
The first weekend it'll be busy like IKEA Macdonalds etc was, next week not so much .
It's raining all weekend near me so no .
Possibly next weekend, I'm looking forward to a nice carvery in a pub .

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 03/07/2020 15:48

Is nobody being out off by the contact tracing thing?

userxx · 03/07/2020 15:48

@MorrisZapp Damn you and your sense. Catastrophizing keeps the hysteria going don't you know.

Puzzld · 03/07/2020 15:48

@Ihopeyourcakeisshit

Is nobody being out off by the contact tracing thing?
In what way? Contact tracing is a good thing, no?
pigeon999 · 03/07/2020 15:48

We are going away on a UK holiday :) We have lots of restaurants and days out organised, I can't wait!

JovialNickname · 03/07/2020 15:49

I would love to go out (and will be next week!) but I won't be going out on opening day. Not because of the lurgy but because I fear violence. I don't think many people are going to the pub for a quiet civilized pint on the 4th, I think it's people that want to get hammered and to some, let out 3 months worth of pent up anger and frustration. Plus the pubs are allowed to serve from 6 am - what could go wrong Grin I will be out in a few days when it's all calmed down though.

puzzledpiece · 03/07/2020 15:50

I can't understand why I can't go to an ice skating rink with limited people skating, but can get drunk in a pub and mingle indiscriminately with other people. Ditto swimming pools and large gyms

JovialNickname · 03/07/2020 15:51

It depends where you are in the country as well - my local is as rough as a bear's arse so that definitely influences my decision!

bakereld · 03/07/2020 15:53

We're going out.

We are going to Leeds during the daytime, for a look around the city center & window shopping, then we're off to a Korean restaurant in the evening, very excited for it.

Not going to a pub as it will be chaos.

BrandyandBabycham · 03/07/2020 15:53

DH & I don’t go out anyway so it’s a normal Saturday night with DD11 for us. And as PP have said, it could be messy!

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 03/07/2020 15:54

I was under the impression (happy to be corrected) that if you are contacted to say you were in the pub with someone who gets covid, you have to self isolate etc?

Dk13 · 03/07/2020 16:01

No, I don't really fancy it at the moment

Littlepond · 03/07/2020 16:04

I’ve booked a table at a local bistro for one night next week. Just DH and I, tables socially distanced etc. I’m looking forward to dinner and wine 🙂

pinksoda35 · 03/07/2020 16:06

I have booked to go out to a local restaurant for tea-The idea of going to a pub does not appeal-but I do not go to pubs much now anyway.
I much prefer a nice meal and a few glasses of wine then back home to watch Netflix and open a bottlE.
I have missed getting dressed up and having someone else cook and wash up for me.

lazylinguist · 03/07/2020 16:09

Nope. But not because I'm scared of catching the virus (already had it) and not because I think it will be carnage at my village pub Grin. Just because it's bound to be pretty busy on the first weekend and the weather forecast is crap here, so sitting outside won't be appealing. We'll wait a few days and go on a weekday when the weather is better.

starrynight87 · 03/07/2020 16:09

Nope, all this 'super saturday' is just to make us go out and buy.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 03/07/2020 16:13

Anyone?

annabel85 · 03/07/2020 16:22

I'll be staying in.

Fiddling while Rome burns springs to mind. 'Let's all go out and get leathered'

1WildTeaParty · 03/07/2020 16:24

It would be interesting to see that rare thing: the social-distancing- drunk... but I am not sure that I believe in them!

I hate queuing and crowds and prefer for my relaxation times to be fun rather than worrying.

(Don't worry government-I can still spend us out of trouble )

TheSoapyFrog · 03/07/2020 16:26

Not going out at night, but I will be popping out for a couple of drinks in the afternoon
