To ask if you are going Out, out tomorrow evening?

The media coverage almost seems to encourage people to relax the lockdown and have a blow out!
So I'm wondering....
YABU = off out, need to let off steam.
YANBU = staying safe at home, there's a pandemic.

Anyone else being given the impression we are being encouraged here?

I'm going out for a meal, I can't wait.

underneaththeash · 03/07/2020 16:33

Were having friends over tonight for BBQ and then going out tomorrow night. Now not as DS has a temperature and we're awaiting his COVID test results!

VicSynix · 03/07/2020 16:35

Nope. The only pubs opening here tomorrow are ones which are pretty rubbish at the best of times. Our favourite drinking pub not opening till 13th, favourite pub serving lovely food not opening till end July/early August - but they're continuing to do their amazing takeaways. So we'll have a three course dinner from them, and a bottle of wine from our favourite local wine shop, and carry on supporting the economy in that way.

In a couple of weeks I would very much like a big sunday lunch in a beer garden with a glass of something chilled though.

mogloveseggs · 03/07/2020 16:37

Not a chance.
I'm back at work tomorrow-waitress in a cafe- and dreading it.
To go somewhere that throws alcohol into the mix and then the inevitable "just one more mate" idiots which every pub has at least one of is my worst nightmare.
At least the weather here is crap all weekend might put some off

jay55 · 03/07/2020 16:37

There is a bar where I live(in the ground floor of one of the blocks of flats) that is having an outdoor event tomorrow. I'll pop down if I remember and it's not raining.

Next Friday I've a restaurant booked.

ListeningQuietly · 03/07/2020 16:37

Pubs can open from 6am
in the morning, yes really

I'll lay money that the pub nearest to my house will have been closed by the police by noon Grin

I'm not planning to go to any pub anywhere for at least a week - to let the systems settle down

cathyandclare · 03/07/2020 16:38

It's my birthday and the family are all going out for dinner. We got the last table. I can't wait, it's well run and spacious so not stressed at all.

We're not going to the pub before or after so a fairly sedate and safe evening planned.

annabel85 · 03/07/2020 16:40

I hate queuing and crowds and prefer for my relaxation times to be fun rather than worrying

The worry is another aspect of it though. The thing is once people have had a few drinks the worry goes (and so does caution which is not good in this situation) but before you go you're worried and then you wake up the next day full of alcohol, worried whether you're incubating the virus. In some respects it's better to be one of these 'don't give a shit' carefree people.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 03/07/2020 16:42

Haven’t booked anything yet but may well try and book a table at one of our local pubs. Can’t wait.

notheragain4 · 03/07/2020 16:45

We have reservations for dinner out next Friday. Haircuts booked in for first thing tomorrow though!

Ulrikaka · 03/07/2020 16:45

Out for dinner tomorrow night. Am looking forward to it so much!!

TwoZeroTwoZero · 03/07/2020 16:46

I'm saying at home. More because I hate crowds and not overly bothered about pubs and drinking though than a year of catching The Virus.

NeverTwerkNaked · 03/07/2020 16:46

No but then I hate crowded pubs anyway. We are looking forward to eating out again though, or meeting friends for a quiet midweek drink .

I think we will see a second wave but I want to live life a bit while we can!

TwoZeroTwoZero · 03/07/2020 16:47

I swear my phone wants me to look like an idiot. I actually wrote "a fear of..." Hmm

Rosebel · 03/07/2020 16:51

Can't imagine anything worse, don't think it'll be enjoyable. Our wedding anniversary is in September so if things are okay by then we might go out but I won't be going out before then.
My husband's colleagues have mentioned going out next weekend but my husband probably won't go. Feels a bit too soon for us.

B9008 · 03/07/2020 16:53

If I was under 40 I would be all over it.

As I’m the wrong side of 50 I won’t be.

annabel85 · 03/07/2020 16:55

I think it is all too soon but the sad thing is Covid wise you're best going this weekend rather than in a few weeks when cases rise up again. Aside from the big flare ups in places like Leicester, cases are as low now as they're probably going to be for a good while due to all the things that have been stopped and lockdowns.

I still won't be going for a while though.

HundredMilesAnHour · 03/07/2020 16:56

I have a table booked in a fairly upmarket restaurant for (a hopefully romantic) dinner with the man I've been dating since before lockdown. We've seen each other on a regular basis throughout lockdown but have socially distanced at all times, which is why I say the man I'm dating rather than my boyfriend (since we haven't touched since pre-lockdown). I'm really looking forward to it. The restaurant's guidelines are impressively strict and we can walk there rather than have to use public transport. I'm looking forward to actually wearing a dress and feeling a lot more glamorous than I have done for the past few months.

TheQueef · 03/07/2020 16:57

Happy Birthday, and to you celebrating Wineand
But seriously.
Who is booking a table at the local for 6am?

OP posts:
Nosuchluck · 03/07/2020 16:58

Did you see him when we weren't allowed to meet anyone?

The80sweregreat · 03/07/2020 16:59

Not read the whole thread , but I predict a news item in a pub at midday with people all clinking glasses and cheering loudly etc etc.
By 11pm it'll be showing crowds drunk in the pub gardens !
I'm staying in! 😊

Purplephonecover · 03/07/2020 17:00

Our locals pubs are not opening this weekend but I’ve booked a restaurant for Monday, it’s a significant birthday

imstillfurloughed · 03/07/2020 17:19

Pub in the city centre is opening at midnight tonight I believe.

BarbedBloom · 03/07/2020 17:24

No, firstly I am shielding and second, I think it will be absolute carnage due to things being shut for so long. My friend is on duty in A and E and is totally dreading it

Bluesheep8 · 03/07/2020 17:26

No. I suspect it'll be mayhem.
