Coldemort · 01/07/2020 21:09

So only ever having bought the saver one.... is there any difference between this and the regular quarter pounder which is 3 times the price. Is it just bigger... ?
On on the subject who's on for a petition for a reasonable chicken nuggets choice Grin
And thanks but I dont need a lecture why I shouldn't be eating macdonalds (this is mumsnet after all!)

My standard order is a large chicken sandwich meal and a box of 6 nuggets.

Or:

A large big mac meal with a box of 6 nuggets.

Or if I'm particularly poor:

2 saver cheese burgers (can't stand the doubles, way too much meat!) and a saver chicken burger.

Dammit! I want it all now. With extra pickles please.

squeekums · 02/07/2020 00:57

dammit i want maccas now

PyongyangKipperbang · 02/07/2020 01:01

Maccies Asshole Alert!!!!!!

Stop reading now if you hate haters....

Not a hater but I can only do the burger and a drink. Or fries and a drink. The thought of eating a EVM plus a chaser is blowing my mind! I am the eater with a grazer appetite, so I want to keep getting the taste but cant stomach to amount over half an hour (say). However over a few hours I probably could!

QueenCT · 02/07/2020 01:15

I always get an extra tub of gherkins Grin they're so good

Itsallpointless · 02/07/2020 01:22

I had McDs yesterday. I haven't eaten it for probably 6 months.

For those people who sat in a queue for hours to eat this junk, god only knows what your daily diet consists of!

Never thought I'd say this, but it's vile🤮

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 02/07/2020 01:34

Anyone else remember the McPizza's?. Yes! I’m 45 and often talk fondly about McDs pizzas - DCs think I’m going mad.

I love a legend or a happy meal cheeseburger meal. Plus an apple pie with a small caramel flurry. Sadly McD may well be the first ‘restaurant’ I visit when I go out and about again Blush

Spartak · 02/07/2020 01:34

Fatted - are you sure they do a 12 box of nuggets? Or was the poor server just trying to sell you two boxes of 6 to keep you happy?

QuestionableMouse · 02/07/2020 01:39

@Smurfy23

I love a quarterpounder but find its always a bit hit and miss. You sometimes get one thats been sat under the lamp since last Tuesday and tastes like warm rubber. A freshly made one though is the business.
All burgers are made to order. They shouldn't be sitting for any length of time.
QuestionableMouse · 02/07/2020 01:41
@Coldemort (whispers) my McDonald's also does boxes of 12 nuggets.

I discovered this after being absolutely pissed as a fart one night and arguing with the poor lady who worked there that I wanted 10 nuggets. She kindly advised me I could only get 9 or 12.

I like how McDonald's has reverted back to its late 80s heyday where you could only get a few things. I've been saying this is where their business model has been going wrong of late. It works for Five Guys, it can work for Maccies again!
No McDonald's sells 12 nuggets. The buttons on the till only come in 6/9/20.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 02/07/2020 01:49

A reasonable nugget option would be to put back bits of juicy thigh in the nuggets like in the good ol' days. They're too dry and tasteless these days.

PyongyangKipperbang · 02/07/2020 03:13

I suspect they say to very pissed people "ok, just this once we will do 12" on the (fairly safe) basis the customer can't count at that point, They give you 9, charge for 20.

Furries · 02/07/2020 03:45

@QueenCT - an extra tub of gherkins?! I never knew this was an option - is this in the UK? I blooming love gherkins.

WhereILiveIsWhereIStay · 02/07/2020 04:07

I love McDonalds. I also enjoy how that pisses off food snobs. I also love oysters, kobe beef and fine dining. Liking McDonalds doesn't mean you're Waynetta Slob.

Redcrow · 02/07/2020 06:10

God I love mcdonalds burgers! Has to be McDonalds not Burger King, needs to be British beef!
I'm really craving a big mac now

Redcherries · 02/07/2020 07:44

This is easy (mumsnet sin, I haven’t read the full thread)

Cheeseburger you have 2, or one and a chicken mayo, quarter pounder you have 1.

QueenCT · 02/07/2020 08:35

@Furries yep! They might charge (a tiny amount) but you should get a mini McFlurry tub of them

AngelicInnocent · 02/07/2020 08:52

@Redstorm2807

You can have the fries and order a burger without the bun. It comes in a tray with a knife and fork.

BarbaraofSeville · 02/07/2020 09:00

By reasonable chicken nuggets choice I mean not either 6, or for £1 more 20! How about a 10 option

The pricing on McDs nuggets is mad. It's something like £2.89 for 6, £3.49 for 9, or £4.39 for 20. So unless you're on your own and have no way of hanging onto the food, if you're buying any nuggets at all, you might as well get 20 and share them around or save some until later.

I've put the leftovers in the freezer before and heated them up in the oven, not quite as nice as fresh, but not terrible. Also a good way of making a cheats katsu type curry, with chicken nuggets, rice and instant curry sauce.

But I usually get a fish filet meal as I don't really like normal burgers, but I realise that makes me quite unusual as they sell hardly any of them.

BarbaraofSeville · 02/07/2020 09:01

@BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz

Yes.

The basic cheeseburger is a thin patty, basic bun. Bit of tomato sauce and some diced onions.

The quarter pounder is a seeded bun, bigger patty, gherkin, ketchup, mustard, onion and cheese.

No, this isn’t quite right.

The cheeseburger has ketchup, mustard, dehydrated onions, one pickle and one slice of cheese with a thin meat patty on a plain bun.

The quarter pounder has ketchup, mustard, slivered onions, two pickles and two slices of cheese on a thicker patty that’s bigger than the seeded bun it comes in.

So essentially they are the same burger with the same ingredients, it’s just the Quarter has a thicker meat patty and a bit more of each ingredient.

redwoodmazza · 02/07/2020 09:11

@yellowsunset Exactly!!!

MozzchopsThirty · 02/07/2020 09:44

@AnotherEmma isn't it boring?? We can all make burgers at home, you don't have a corner of the market, but sometimes when you're tired, hungover, lazy, jet lagged etc etc and you don't want to be a smug arse then you just pop to McDonald's Grin

I do not like quarter pounders at all, taste is so different to the cheeseburgers
The double cheeseburger is epic!

Big Mac a close 2nd

When they re-opened I was so excited and couldn't decide so had a Big Mac meal with a double cheeseburger on the side 🐽🐽🐽

Last week I had a fillet o fish and I'm quite partial to those too!

Not a huge fan of chicken nuggets or burgers unless I'm hammered and fall into Burger King for a chicken royale with cheese

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 02/07/2020 09:48

The 9 chicken nuggets are not part of a meal deal though.

KathySelden · 02/07/2020 10:00

I worked at the golden arches for a while.

You get 2 gherkins on most burgers, none have just 1.
The 1/4 pounder has proper chopped onions and a bigger bun and burger.

Buns are all brioche type buns which is why they are so sweet.
But YABU because Big Macs are the best

thatcarolebaskinbitch · 02/07/2020 10:17

@MrsElijahMikaelson1

Yes they do I always get a 9 nugget meal, unless my local ones are the only ones that do it Grin oh and all the ones near DP's 90 miles way (so not just my local franchise)
