Do you judge people going on foreign holidays right now?

I don’t know anyone in my life doing this, but I’ve seen reality stars go abroad and then post on social media. Some people have called them out on it. Do you know people doing it?

YABU to judge, the countries need tourism
YANBU to judge, it’s non-essential travel only right now

Here we go again another one. People should not be allowed to do anything ever again. We should all stay in. Holidays should be no more.

Dominicgoings · 30/06/2020 23:17

Not so much judgement but more surprise at the number of people who are willing to risk their health and those of others. Being stuck abroad with COVID? And no valid travel insurance? Not for me.

FinallyRelief · 30/06/2020 23:19

Restrictions will be lifted this week - that equals travel insurance.

I'm pretty sure getting a ferry sticking in a cabin /eurotunnel and going to self catering private villa is different to aeroplane and hotel.

I would do the latter not the second . Only with travel insurance

MayFayre · 30/06/2020 23:20

No judging, just surprise. Wouldn’t appeal to me.

strugglingwithdeciding · 30/06/2020 23:21

Ni def not judging its up to them what they do and no one elses business as its within the rules

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 30/06/2020 23:23

Yes, I’m judging too. Restaurants, bars, pubs, hairdressers, make up artists etc. can’t open up but people are allowed to cram onto a little airplane sharing air for hours on end? Ludicrous

Livelovebehappy · 30/06/2020 23:23

What would worry me would be actually getting there, and then a new wave happening, and all the problems getting back home like there was in March when all this kicked off. But I appreciate a lot of people don’t have a choice if the holiday is paid for.

LEELULUMPKIN · 30/06/2020 23:23

I'm flying out on the 15th of July. Judge away.

Pixxie7 · 30/06/2020 23:25

I certainly wouldn’t judge anyone everyone has a right to make their own decisions at the moment they are probably safer abroad anyway.

strugglingwithdeciding · 30/06/2020 23:25

@alltheusername
Restaurants , bars and hairdressers can open soon prob before air bridges are agreed

People are already on holiday abroad.

Houseplantmad · 30/06/2020 23:26

I have appropriate insurance.
I have paid for tickets that I will otherwise lose money on.
The area I'm going to has dealt with Covid far better than the shitshow we are enduring and has fewer infections. I'm frankly amazed they are allowing any Brits in given our handling of it.
So once the FCO advice changes, we're off.

Itsmemaggie · 30/06/2020 23:28

If holidays abroad lead to a second wave and schools not opening in September I don’t think I can cope.

PickAChew · 30/06/2020 23:29

Not all countries have generous furlough schemes like ours for people who have lost their livelihoods.

strugglingwithdeciding · 30/06/2020 23:29

@dominicgoings why will they have no travel insurance ? Im sure once airbridges are arranged fco advise will likely change for those countries otherwise be pointless arranging them
People will need to check their insurance carefully though to make sure they are covered
My annual policy already advised me i will be , although my holiday was cancelled so wont be needed

TheLegendOfZelda · 30/06/2020 23:29

How dare they have fun? Thought we'd banned that. Outrageous.

strugglingwithdeciding · 30/06/2020 23:31

@alltheusername not many are on holiday abroad as most companies havent been flying out
There may be a small amount but moat of big travel agents havent operated flights yet

AllTheUsernamesAreAlreadyTaken · 30/06/2020 23:31

Me and my husband have a business in the wedding industry. We have lost 90% of our bookings this year. I’d be very grateful if my only financial loss through this was a cancelled holiday.
People’s lives are more important than our business. People’s lives are more important than your holiday.

GabsAlot · 30/06/2020 23:31

some insurance wont cover covid and i dont think people have realised or checked their cover- properly before racing off on holidays

PickAChew · 30/06/2020 23:32

We have neighbours off to Greece in a few weeks. I hope they bloody enjoy it. Greece is top of the green/Amber list.

DisobedientHamster · 30/06/2020 23:33

No. Don't give a fuck, either.

ghostyslovesheets · 30/06/2020 23:33

Due to sail 30th July - private cabin - driving - south of France on the beach - as of today it’s all still going ahead and I can’t wait

LaurieMarlow · 30/06/2020 23:33

Greece aren’t letting Brits in yet.

strugglingwithdeciding · 30/06/2020 23:34

@anyfucker
I agree , people know nothing of others circumstances yet feel they have a right to judge them
If people fo abroad it will be because its allowed

ghostyslovesheets · 30/06/2020 23:34

Oh and don’t panic on my behalf 👋 my insurance covers us all
