Just retiled the kitchen and have this old capped off gas pipe that we can't remove and would love some ideas on what to use to hide it. It measures about 5cm x 5cm.

That green though 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

emojisarentwords · 26/06/2020 01:19

I find a lot of knobs do look smaller than the dimensions originally quoted

Namechange2020onceagain · 26/06/2020 07:52

@emojisarentwords

Very true, but the eye is still drawn to it.

@Haybo26 It does look very green in the picture but is a lot paler in rl, it's F&B Green Ground

@Rafflesway I think it protrudes about 2cm so more girth than length.

Are you sure that the gas pipe is still live?
Are you able to find the other end to see if it is still connected?
You might find a Corgi Gas engineer who would unscrew the cap and check it for you and if it is still a working gas supply they can re-cap it securely. If it is no longer active it could be cut off and a new complete tile fitted.
Obviously it would have been better to do all this before re-tiling. Wink
If you are stuck with it - put something like this sign on the wall above it!

I would find a suitable aerosol lid and fix it over it with blue tac!!!

Rafflesway · 26/06/2020 10:20

Hmm!
Definitely needs something exciting in it’s life then. Grin

Ha, I laughed anyway! Grin

Namechange2020onceagain · 26/06/2020 13:23

This has nothing to do with trans, why do people keep saying that?

Tall thin vase (& flowers) in the corner would hide it

Another trans thread sighs

Made me laugh as well.

OP, your knob is very small, it's barely noticeable. And, assuming you are British, anybody who sees it will be far too polite to mention that your knob is on show.

ginghamtablecloths · 26/06/2020 17:46

It is indeed an unsightly knob and I would suggest something semi-soft and 3D such as a wreath/garland of knitted/sewn flowers or suchlike. It could be themed with the seasons - hearts in February, small eggs for Easter, baubles for Christmas. etc.

Perhaps a small cabinet with a false back which covers it or a pretty recipe folder - if you are creative you could probably make one out of old cereal packets and pretty paper. I'd make the wreath but then I love that type of thing and I don't have to take anyone else's opinion into account.

Louisesp82 · 26/06/2020 17:54

I have a heating dial..I put a small canvas picture over it (is balancing a bit!)

chubacca · 26/06/2020 17:57

How about a corner shelf just above it?

Chig · 26/06/2020 19:12

I got very interested for a little while. Sorry can’t help with your knob problem.

Unknown2020 · 26/06/2020 19:30

macrame plant pot with a hook directly above the knob!

sjonlegs · 26/06/2020 19:49

Gah - and here was me thinking someone was getting some!

How high/low?

I'm thinking shelves, TV, picture, ... filler ... either that or literally make it a feature ... put a plant higher up, drape ivy around it! Frame it ... pah ... here was me thinking there was .... pours more wine!

AnimalCrossing · 26/06/2020 19:53

@Haybo26 is that really necessary. I mean if you don’t have anything nice to say!

Makinglemonadefromlemons · 26/06/2020 19:55

Something like this with air plants in

JOULES2002 · 26/06/2020 20:14

Nor me! 😂

PerfidiousAlbion · 26/06/2020 21:03

As with most knobs, it’s smaller than you lead us to believe.

I’d stick the microwave in front of it or some nice wooden chopping boards or, a vase, depending on your kitchen style.

Thewordgame · 27/06/2020 00:19

Indoor hanging basket?

animalmagic1984 · 27/06/2020 01:19

From looking at the wider picture, I think you have overestimated the size of your knob, and may have a serious case of wishful thinking.
