What time do you eat dinner?

What is your preferred time for your evening meal? We’ve been drifting later and later, I don’t mind on weekends but midweek I feel between 8 and 9pm would be good. Last couple of nights were 10.30.

When do you have dinner?

Between 1700 and 1730.

CremeEggThief · 24/06/2020 21:03

I've just had mine now. I often eat later in very hot weather and earlier in winter. Any time between 6 and 9.30, although the most common time is probably 7 to 8.

earthyfire · 24/06/2020 21:04

During lockdown it's been nice as we've all been able to eat together as a family and at a reasonable time but when DH is not working from home then we eat at 8pm and the children eat earlier.

riotlady · 24/06/2020 21:09

DD has hers about half 5, then DP and I about half 8.

Chilledchablis · 24/06/2020 21:12

Usually 7.30 - 8 as I work until 6 when in the office. WFH can be just when I feel like it or when DH comes back from golf. Also can't justify starting on the Wine until 7 Halo

LadyPrigsbottom · 24/06/2020 21:15

I prefer to eat between 6 and 8. DH tends to want to eat after this, so we tend not to eat together at the moment!

bluebell94 · 24/06/2020 21:16

Between 6 and 7:30. I'm shocked how many of you eat at 9/10pm, I'd be starving! And I like to be in bed by 10:30 Grin

DieSchottin93 · 24/06/2020 21:18

Any time between 5pm-6pm. I don't understand how people can regularly eat their dinner at 8pm or even later 🤯🤯 I'd be climbing the walls with hunger by then 😂

rottiemum88 · 24/06/2020 21:18

Usually 5:30-6ish, so that toddler DS can eat with us before his bath/bedtime. He takes anything upto 2 hours to fall sleep these days, so we'd be waiting until 9 or later if we are after he was asleep. I'd never get to sleep if I ate so close to bed (10ish), but admittedly would prefer to eat a little later than we do now

mbosnz · 24/06/2020 21:20

Between 7 and 9 - the girls are teens, and we tend to fit it in around DH's evening meetings.

lubeybooby · 24/06/2020 21:22

6 to 7pm

too hungry to go much longer than that!

needbread · 24/06/2020 21:23

6pm

Nutrigrainygoodness · 24/06/2020 21:24

Between 5.30pm and 7.30pm generally, depending on whos at work, what we are having and how much motivation I have.

My friend sits down to eat with her DP after the kids have gone to bed which is usually 8pm- 9.30pm but on a bad night can be upto 11pm.

Mummadeeze · 24/06/2020 21:24

6.00pm for my DD. I can’t eat an evening meal as I put on too much weight :( I just have breakfast and lunch.

NoMoreFlowers · 24/06/2020 21:24

I eat about 7pm, DH eats about 9:30pm

tumbleweed222 · 24/06/2020 21:25

Usually between 6 and 7

pilates · 24/06/2020 21:25

6/6.30

BarbedBloom · 24/06/2020 21:25

About 6. I work part time normally so can make it and am not in at all just now. We tend to go to bed at 11pm so an 8pm meal would affect my sleep

DramaAlpaca · 24/06/2020 21:25

It's almost 9.30 and DH has just called to let me know that dinner is almost ready. This is fairly usual for the two of us, it was earlier when we had all the DC at home.

jmh740 · 24/06/2020 21:27

Between 5 and 7, 7 is a late tea for us though and doesnt happen often ds goes to bed at 9pm and usually has some super first maybe a biscuit and a glass of milk

theendoftheworldasweknowit · 24/06/2020 21:28

Earlier and earlier. :)

Pre-lockdown, it was usual to eat at 11pm thanks to the long hours and commute. Now I can stop at 5pm, make some food, eat some food and hop back on the computer. Really grateful for that.

Iamagree · 24/06/2020 21:28

Here any time between 7.30 pm and 9.00 pm depending on meetings / DD activities

Ragwort · 24/06/2020 21:28

Between 7.30/8pm, I would prefer to eat earlier & DH would prefer to eat later so this is a compromise.

fantasmasgoria1 · 24/06/2020 21:29

No children living in house to consider, we eat between 5pm - 7pm. Usually between 6.30pm to 7pm. I have never had dinner as late as 10pm and never have!

chipfork · 24/06/2020 21:30

Ideally 8pm, closer to 7 on normal school nights, closer to 9 weekend/holidays, after 9 or 10 is good if takeaway though Smile
