Actually, I KNOW I am, but it really annoys me that my mum pronounces the name Rachel, 'Racial'

I used to have a friend who consistently called my DD1 Izzy despite the fact that her name is Lizzy. We knew each other for 2 years and she never pronounced the L once despite my very clear enunciation.

I used to live in the fen so there were some really dodgy pronounciations of things.
That'll learn ya!! Ahhh
Fored (said quickly) instead of Forehead
Sin it - instead of seen it.
Now I have moved to North Yorks and you don't get ought for nought round here, up t road and round t corner and if you do get two!!!

I say fored . And occasionally wee-ak for 'weak' but not if I haven't been to viist my parents for a while...

was once outed re home county by my masterly pronunciation of cupboard (cUbbud with splendid back vowels)

moondog · 28/09/2007 08:54

It is 'fored'.

vvv my mil talks about cow-turd (custard) too, I think they my be related as she also has pasta issues like your lot. Or maybe they are the same breed? mine are rich ex-pats, very clever well-bred fIL and not so clever east-end bred but thinks she's posh MIL. I LOVE this thread it is so so bitchy and makes me smile.
