Ok here we go. Hand on heart are this Govt fit for office? Before you answer take into consideration.

  1. Huge balls up with PPE at beginning of pandemic.
  2. The Cummings debacle and how they defended the indefensible.

3.The handling of the schools and the millions of children not having any education and still no concrete plans in place.
4.Track and trace app being about as useful as a chocolate teapot, although they were told it would not work 2 months ago.
5.The U turn after pressure on free school meals.
  1. Spending a million pound painting a bloody aeroplane.
  2. Dominic Raab likening Taking the knee to something from Game of Thrones.

They seem to stumble from one disaster to another. Are other first world countries governments as incompetent as ours seem to be?

SIL - big Brexit supporter, works in the NHS, cried because of lack of PPE, blamed the rich for not donating enough! Voted for Johnson - thought he was funny, had loads of character - that's what we needed apparently lots of positivity - not this annoying old doom and gloom.
Well she got the doom and gloom in spades - but she'll still defend her choice in Johnson, it's quite amazing.

They treat the public with contempt. But sadly, many in the public seem to enjoy it.

This is the bit that I don’t understand. What is up with the defenders. It’s like they have no self respect whatsoever. They’re being taken for absolute fools and that’s ... fine with them? Confused

Is it because Boris and co are posh boys? Or would they be happy to be lied to, palmed off and gaslit by anyone? You’ve got to wonder about the psychology.

I agree.

I know Cummings and Aaron Banks have made absolutely no secret of the fact they think Leave voters are thick and have both said as much publicly. Given the way the Tories treat them, I presume they think their voters are thick as well. Oddly, Leave voters kick up a huge fuss if Remain voters even imply they might not have fully understood all the implications of their vote and yet have no comment when Vote Leave smirk and make fun of their stupidity (in front of MPs if you want to watch it).

A lot of studies have shown that people do naturally defer and show more respect to their social 'betters', particulary in this country. Its bloody pathetic but explains tory voters.

Not read the full thread but I bet Labour are secretly quite glad to be able to sit back and let the Tories deal with the pandemic and Brexit so they don’t get the blame for screwing the country up.

Except they won't get the blame. They will point the finger elsewhere and voters will believe it. Or they'll just lie, we've seen in recent years just how successful lying has been for them.

@KenDodd true, we’ve always known that politicians lie but the current lot are taking it to a whole new level, and whatever mess they make they’ll just say but imagine how much worse it would’ve been had Labour been in charge.

I do think they should have the class and respect to at least try and lie in a way that a half lucid body could believe it.

So, according to Helen Whately, student nurses are 'not deemed to be providing a service'. Despite working as soon as they hit the wards, and throughout the CV crisis as part of the NHS 'Heroes' squad.

I know it's been asked numerous times but - is there any member of this Gov who isn't a total arsehole? Anyone at all?? Angry

@FliesandPies This just demonstrates just how out of touch these ministers are. Our senior student midwives have been working alongside us as Band 4's, providing a brilliant addition to the service whilst our pregnant midwives and those with underlying health conditions have been given non clinical duties.

Helen Whateley was interviewed by Piers Morgan at the beginning of this crisis and she was unbearable to watch and listen to. She could not answer anything hadn't a clue about the death toll in care homes, which is meant to be her area to govern.

This government are a bunch of spineless, useless and deluded idiots who still have the audacity to think they've done a good job. Jesus wept if this is a good job then I despairAngry

Oh and to answer your question they are ALL arseholes.

It's so sadly true, so despicably true, so unbearable true Thedogscollar they really are all arseholes and couldn't care less. This scandal re Whately should be top of the news agenda - it's no less a scandal than that of Dominic Cummings which dominated for a week. Actually I would say more of a scandal since it touches on so many areas of failure of this shameful, dishonest government.

I keep reading how his own party want him out, because they also think he’s useless.

And l read a really good article comparing Johnson to Edward Heath in the early 70’s. Overwhelmed by everything and in control of nothing.

Not read the whole thread but essentially I get the gist so any takers as who is best to take us forward given Covid and Brexshit mess?

Is Boris not least bad choice? Or are any from within better equipped to sort things out?

Opposition must be so content that this is not on their watch! That said new Labour leader is seemingly potentially useful if ever there was to be yet another circus vote?!

With 80 or whatever number he can command in his gang these days I think Bojo is secure as others seemingly waiting for him to mess up big time as typical internal party politics despite the recent clear out after May’s nightmare never say die attitude!

The mess and complications are easier to spot but obviously what’s the solution??!! That’s an impossible one to figure out currently!
