We bought a house 6 months ago. Needs new everything, carpets, kitchen, bathroom etc.

We needed new sofas as well

Everything is grey. There are various different shades and shapes but grey.

Grey fucking grey.

Even trying to get curtains 294782927 grey.

Even buying baby toys for the baby. Grey play mats ffs.
Grey ball pits?! With grey balls?!

I used to like grey.

I thought you meant hair, in which case I'd agree as mine is bloody awful right now!

I know what you mean though, grey is like the new lilac.

KittyVonCatsworth · 15/06/2020 20:49

I hear you. In the same position, grey bloody everything. I don't know if I'm just no good at home decor but I find it really difficult to match in other colours with sodding grey. We've got some really beautiful pieces of antique furniture but it's just so hard to match it with grey carpets and grey blinds.

BogRollBOGOF · 15/06/2020 20:50

I don't think I'd survive winter in a grey house.
I need warm, cheery pastels. The kids have scarlet and royal blue (with white) and they're all crisp and vibrant.

Joe Wickes' room gives me the creeps. It's like there's nothing to focus on in a fog.

DontBiteTheBoobThatFeedsYou · 15/06/2020 20:52

I'm with you.
We took ages looking for a warm wall colour to counteract our bloody grey carpets and grey sofas

My house has lots of colour and I sometimes feel like I live in a playschool. I’m about to repaint my green kitchen grey.

ShirleyPhallus · 15/06/2020 20:53

Yes, but even worse is grey crushed velvet and deep pile grey carpets

LynnThese4reSEXPEOPLE · 15/06/2020 20:55

We moved into our house. 8 months ago. The blinds are all grey, the carpets are grey. The feature walls are shades of grey. The ensuite bathroom - white... And grey.

We've done a LOT of painting.

userxx · 15/06/2020 20:56

I quite like grey carpets and sofas but not with grey walls.

Lilithpaws · 15/06/2020 20:57

No it’s not.

NotMeNoNo · 15/06/2020 20:57

I like grey as a base for bright colours , but theres one house in our road is so greyed out I though the pics on rightmove were in black and white. Mind before that it was brown, cream and beige.

Bertucci · 15/06/2020 21:01

Well, there's Mrs Hinch grey which is all crushed velvet and unbelievably naff. But muted colours can look very stylish.

solarlightexpress · 15/06/2020 21:01

I feel the same op.

When we bought our house everything was grey. Grey walls, grey floors, grey bathrooms, it goes on and on. We've kept some of it, added colourful rugs, cushions, accent walls and accessories to each room to make it bright and colourful.

Larkspurandhollyhocks · 15/06/2020 21:01

I'm with you, why just why? I like a tiny bit of grey but grey everything omg Hmm

weepingwillow22 · 15/06/2020 21:05

It is so depressing when you are going shopping for nursery items and baby clothes and they are all grey. What happened to high contrast for baby's developing eyesight?

dancinguser · 15/06/2020 21:05

It's horrid, we're looking for a house right now and so many are boring uninspiring greyed out rooms. Each to their own but I can't help but think all of that grey tat and crushed velvet will end up in the charity shops once the trend dies down.

thelikelylass · 15/06/2020 21:06

Not much grey in our house but I have made a conscious effort to make sure not one more household item in grey comes through the door. Grey is the new '70's brown.
My biggest gripe is that I am trying to find a garden sofa - it is all grey rattan and I cannot really find. anything else.

Frenchfancy · 15/06/2020 21:07

Just try looking at laundry room ideas (a girl can dream). Pinterest is like 50 shades of grey.

Fishfingersandwichplease · 15/06/2020 21:07

I love grey!! But always did, not just cos it is fashionable now! Does need some colour with it though.

hammeringinmyhead · 15/06/2020 21:08

I have a fair amount of grey (sofa is grey suede-ey material and cream leather) but we got a rug with black, cream, beige and brown in it, bought black and cream curtains and chucked some biscuitey cushions on it. It looks more muted and calming than Hinch.

I think it's the grey carpets that ruin the look. Ours are that nothingy weak tea colour that nobody notices

Truthpact · 15/06/2020 21:13

Hate the all grey houses. They've literally just tried to copy someone else's house and not picked their own colours. What's wrong with other colours? Mrs hinch does it because she's got issues with germs and likes to know everything is clean, muck shows up easier on grey. But everyone copying it is getting too much. Have you looked on right move recently? A lot of grey houses, everything grey.

Twixes · 15/06/2020 21:16

Another disliker of grey here. Grey is the colour of battleships, say no more!

I'm the same @thelikelylass. We've a new build and I've actively avoided grey. I've greens, teals, pink, red, yellow and we've some colourful art too. I suffer from depression and I find I need colour in my life to give me a lift. Smile

And I totally agree on the rattan, it's so unbelievably hick yet shockingly expensive! I think made.com had some nice ones. Do you like the Acapulco chairs? A bench version might be nice.

keepingbees · 15/06/2020 21:17

I like grey - but in moderation. It's been done to death. I think it's on the way out though as I've seen lots online about people wanting to inject some colour and move away from grey.

Mummyoflittledragon · 15/06/2020 21:21

We by passed the grey luckily and some of our furniture is coming back into fashion. Grin Our 7 yo sofa looks incredibly dated now.

Rebecca980 · 15/06/2020 21:22

Hahaaaa. This is so true.
I like grey. But with other colour added. I’ve seen people’s houses that are purely grey and white and they just look soulless to me...or like a cosmetic surgery clinic waiting room.
