I have a big presentation tomorrow in person- how do I sort my hair out by tomorrow afternoon?

I just want to tone down the yellow- would washing it a few times help?

You either need a toner or some purple shampoo. You could try lightening it some more but that could make the disaster even worse.

WellIWasInTheNeighbourhoo · 14/06/2020 19:22

It’s not that bad, purple shampoo tones down yellow, leave it on for a while.

Disabrie22 · 14/06/2020 19:24

Go and grab a toner - or Bleach London purple shampoo and conditioner- (leave that on for ten mins)

ShalomToYouJackie · 14/06/2020 19:25

Get some toner (purple shampoo won't help, you need a toner and possibly another bleach).

As a last resort, buy a box dye or a reddish brown or auburn to stick on last minute

SummerBaby2020 · 14/06/2020 19:25

Hi @jesswhitesocks it’s not as bad as you think. If you have any, try and wash your hair with original fairy liquid or if you can pop out and have a shop near you try silver hair shampoo ( it’s actually purple so it tones down the yellow when you wash it ) when I was really blonde that’s what I used to tone down the yellow or brassy tones but don’t leave it on too long...... I’ve seen people leave it on their hair for a few minutes and it’s turned a purple hue lol!! But like I said it’s honestly not as bad as you think Wine x

Betty98 · 14/06/2020 19:27

Washing it a few times probably won’t help. Agree it doesn’t look that bad.

FadedRed · 14/06/2020 19:27

Looks a nice colour in the photo.

altiara · 14/06/2020 19:27

What’s your normal colour? Could you just scrap it all back into a bun and then spray over the top with root colour spray?

Alsohuman · 14/06/2020 19:28

It’s nowhere near as bad as you think it is. Bear in mind, nobody’s been near a hairdresser for three months. Everyone’s hair is a total mess!

Nacreous · 14/06/2020 19:30

I think if I saw that on a camera ATM I would just assume it was bad lighting. Can you make the lighting bad, then it will just look like part of that? It doesn't look too catastrophic to me.

tabulahrasa · 14/06/2020 19:30

Washing it won’t help, there’s nothing to wash out..

You need to add colour to counteract the yellow with preferably a toner, or if you can’t get one a purple shampoo.

jesswhitesocks · 14/06/2020 19:33

Thanks everyone,

I'm crapping myself about the purple shampoo as I dont want
Pink hair does it work?

Fairy liquid? Really does that really work too? I'll try anything safe Blush

Purple shampoo definitely works. My hair’s silver and I use it every other wash to prevent yellow tinges.

Thepilotlightsgoneout · 14/06/2020 19:35

What colour was it before? ie how dramatic is the change and does the person you’re meeting know what it was like before?

FreeFromDinoMeat · 14/06/2020 19:36

I've done this a few times OP. You're lucky it's gone yellow and not orange. Mine usually goes orange and so I have to bleach it again after a while to get it yellow and then I put a blonde dye on it.

Purple shampoo won't make your hair pink or purple. It just counteracts the yellow.

Get this one if you can.

If it’s just a one off, maybe try those L’Oréal colour sprays and get one in blonde or a slightly dark blonde to get a shadow root

Allywill · 14/06/2020 19:36

Seriously that is not bad. I speak as someone who has bleached her daughter,s hair in lockdown and whose same daughter has cut her husband hair. It looks fine but appreciate if you not happy with it, it doesn’t really matter what we say!

Not sure if my picture posted.

It's not that bad. Go and buy a toner tonight, get a light ash blonde one and it will take the yellow out.

FreeFromDinoMeat · 14/06/2020 19:38

And agree with others, that really is not the worst colour I've seen after bleaching!

SkepticalCat · 14/06/2020 19:39

Honestly, I don't think it looks bad at all and if i just saw that photo without knowing you'd just dyed your hair I wouldn't think anything was amiss. I obviously don't know your previous/natural hair colour though.

InTropicalTrumpsLand · 14/06/2020 19:40

Looks like the bleach didn't lift enough color. I'd go for a toner rather than purple shampoo (but buy that, too) because the results show faster. Back when I was a blonde I liked using L'Oreal Richesse Milkshake toners. And tomorrow, put your hair up so you don't draw more attention to your hair.

Disclaimer: I can be totally wrong. I bleached my hair in my teens, you can imagine the disaster it was.

speakout · 14/06/2020 19:40

Trivial.
