Help!

Like an idiot I bleached my hair tonight- first time and it come out yellow!,!

I have a big presentation tomorrow in person- how do I sort my hair out by tomorrow afternoon?

I just want to tone down the yellow- would washing it a few times help?

Purple shampoo: use quite a lot, lather it up as usual, leave for 5 mins and rinse.

Purple conditioner: give it a good few minutes too.

It won’t turn your hair pink, it will knock the yellow tones out.

Apologies to anyone I offended by my post title - I had depression after my last relationship broke down so I know how those thoughts feel apologies again

Try the washing liquid on dry hair and then put cling film over hairand leave it a bit. This worked for me with a red hair disaster. Well lightened it a bit. Also try head and shoulders can work with cling film. It looks ok though as it is.

Belledan1 · 14/06/2020 19:57

The clingfilm absorbs the dye coming off

Lordfrontpaw · 14/06/2020 19:57

I think it looks nice.

jesswhitesocks · 14/06/2020 19:57

Thank you for the
Compliments - it's helped! Smile

It still looks really yellow to me especially at the top- I'll try the purple shampoo and let you know how I get on xxx

It looks fine. It's just hair. Nobody cares about your hair as much as you do. Nobody cares about bad hair at the moment. 'COVID Styles' will be remembered for years to come as a separate entity entirely from all other hair eras. Brave out your meeting. Don't mention it unless somebody else does, and if they do, laugh about how it turned out yellower than expected, then ask them how they're coping without a hairdresser. Move the conversation on!

MuthaClucker · 14/06/2020 19:59

I think it's possibly showing up differently on people's devices, because on both pics for me, it looks very yellow (but also very shiny and definitely not offabridgeworthy!)

Purple shampoo in the morning, as soon as you can get hold of it

Lordfrontpaw · 14/06/2020 20:00

Good luck with the presentation- and it doesn’t look bad, it really doesn’t!

GrandAltogetherSo · 14/06/2020 20:00

I’m a hairdresser, purple shampoo (sometimes called silver shampoo) will work fine. It’s very drying though so don’t use it too often. When you bleach hair, you’re leaving the raw undertones behind. So, you’ll be left with either orange or yellow tones that need neutralising with either a blue or purple colour.

Before I trained, I went for a job interview with bright yellow freshly bleached hair. It was a medium brown originally. Thankfully, I had a good boyfriend at the time who talked sense into me and pointed out that no-one at the interview will know it’s a mistake so just own it and do your best. I think I was so focussed on my hair that my interview nerves went and I got the job. Grin

Good luck OP

One more just taken in the evening light- it looks better in the sun!

Ok would you like some real advice from an actual hairstylist? ...I am one! DO NOT shampoo it with wash8mg up liquid this is terrifying advice seriously for many many reasons I don’t have time to explain but trust me don’t. The most fool proof thing to do is colour it a shade darker than it is now, apply it all over from roots to tips evenly and massage it well in leave in for maximum processing time then shampoo out and apply a treatment conditioner. If you can’t bare to go any darker then you need to apply a toner of the same depth as your current hair but in an attractive shade if it’s yellowy go for some thing in a violet ash tone around a level 9 or if it’s orangey go for a bluey ash tone again beginning with the number 9. Failing that you will have to stick a blonde box colour over it, again I would advise a level 9 but avoid anything that mentions super ash or honey or golden tones.

NotAQueef · 14/06/2020 20:04

Make sure the toner is the same level as your hair colour or it won’t do anything. It doesn’t look bad regardless but understand you might want a cooler tone

jesswhitesocks · 14/06/2020 20:04

Thank you everyone for the best wishes! Smile

@seenyourarse I'm frightened to put on another colour tbh would the purple shampoo work?

Theyweretheworstoftimes · 14/06/2020 20:07

Don't put purple shampoo on freshly bleached hair you run the risk of it going lilac or worse bright purple. There was a thread about a woman who did this and her hair went purple and she was trying to fix that.

Tie is back and no one will notice

GinWithRosie · 14/06/2020 20:08

Pretty much my natural hair colour OP...looks ok to me 🤷‍♀️ I'd hate to think that I've spent my life with 'yellow' hair 🤦‍♀️

(Disclaimer: I too used a home hair colour to cover grey...I'm now a rocking a rather striking 'strawberry blonde' 😆)

MogHog · 14/06/2020 20:08

I tend to use this one and it may be in your supermarket and ive not had it turn purple/pink yet...do wear gloves though just in case

@Theyweretheworstoftimes that's what l'm scared of- I don't want to make it worse!

OP posts:
Flymetothetoon · 14/06/2020 20:09

Just looks blonde to me.
Use a purple shampoo if you hate it that much.

My hair is naturally silver and I'd love the warmth that you currently have in your hair 🤷‍♀️

101stNC · 14/06/2020 20:10

Following to see how it turns out with the toner, partly because I need a toner myself and would like to see if the one you get is any good (I've tried touch of silver and the L'oreal one but perhaps my hair isn't light enough to take)

Fwiw I also think it looks lovely. You've done well to get it that blonde after one black application Smile

jesswhitesocks · 14/06/2020 20:11

If you guys think it looks ok I might just face it out- I hate it but I don't want pink hair either, and I'm scared to put any more dyes in it!

ChardonnaysPetDragon · 14/06/2020 20:12

Looks nice, just don't faff with it anymore. Besides, everybody and their dog has funny hair now.

jesswhitesocks · 14/06/2020 20:13

@flymetothemoon it's definitely
Yellow! Smile

I have platinum coloured hair natural thanks to Scandi heritage I often end up with lilac hair using purple shampoo. It was just something to consider.
