Normally you bleach your hair up, then put a toner or box dye on it, for the shade that you want.

Just buy a ash blonde box dye, and it will be done in 30 minutes. No need to panic.

You can use a purple shampoo to keep your colour going brassy.

ClashCityRocker · 14/06/2020 20:59

It looks fine, honestly.

It probably seems brassier to you because you've made a big change in your hair colour. I wouldn't think anything of it.

jesswhitesocks · 14/06/2020 21:09

Hi Everyone!

I'm going to try the purple shampoo I will post the results tomorrow!

Thank you so much for your support and advice! X

I think maybe you're just shocked because it's different to the 'you' you're used to seeing in the mirror. I think your hair looks lovely, and it matches your skin tone. However, if you want to stop the blonde going brassy, the purple shampoo / conditioner others have suggested does work. And don't worry, it doesn't make your hair pink or anything like that.

Don't put an Ash tint on it, you will look khaki

sygnetswan · 14/06/2020 21:30

I think I'd leave it as it is. It's not too bad and tampering with it could make it worse.

mybowelshatepregnancy · 14/06/2020 21:34

It will only look khaki if she uses an ash toner that's darker than the shade she's bleached it to. A light ash blonde toner won't go khaki on the colour it is just now.

Cannotcope4223 · 14/06/2020 21:34

Hun - I did this. Made a total bollocks of trying to lighten my hair and it went that exact colour... I got a hairdresser friend to help me fix it but it’s still really yellow. I just bought the brunette Loreal roots spray and toned the whole thing down. You need a salon strength toner which I doubt you’ll find in the morning from a stockist? Or a Sallys?

ouch321 · 14/06/2020 21:47

It looks absolutely fine as is!

Ellmau · 14/06/2020 21:52

It's not that bad and probably most people won't notice or even like it.

cologne4711 · 14/06/2020 21:55

I also think it looks fine.

jesswhitesocks · 15/06/2020 17:54

Well thank you all for your advice yesterday!

I was out at 7.00 this morning to Asda to pick up some L'Oréal purple shampoo- jumped in the shower - slavered it on!

Tbh I don't think it mad that much of a difference but I will try again tomorrow!

On another note I did my presentation regardless- and got offered a promotion!

So my shite hair didn't make a difference - what do you think did the shampoo do it's job? I never touching bleach again!

Congratulations (and again - I thought it looked nice!)

ThatUserNamesTakenTryAnother · 15/06/2020 18:53

'Colour before' from boots, excellent, follow the instructions and rinse for ages.
Then maybe a darker ash blonde dye 👍

teaflake · 15/06/2020 18:54

I thought it looked nice.

Congratz on the promotion! Well done.

Eckhart · 15/06/2020 18:54

Congratulations Jess. I must say, if they'd not offered you promotion simply because of your hair, they wouldn't be working for anyway.

I think your hair looks nice, by the way. Are you sure you're not just startled by the difference to how it was, and so, not looking at it objectively?

ThatUserNamesTakenTryAnother · 15/06/2020 18:55

It looks lovely, I've done it so many times and been salmon colour then yellow, I gave up and always go to the hairdresser now for lightening.
Maybe some low lights and high lights would look even better 👍
But you'd have to wait for that anyway

AnnaBanana333 · 15/06/2020 18:59

This is a stealth boast, right? Smile I think it looks lovely!

Querencia · 15/06/2020 19:08

It wasn't too bad before but definitely looks better now and the shampoo has toned down the yellowness.
Congratulations on your promotion Star

Veterinari · 15/06/2020 19:13

Did you leave the purple shampoo on for 30 mins?
It takes a while to work

Lilacpheonix · 15/06/2020 19:15

Purple shampoo won't help. I've recently bleached my hair which turned out much like yours before toning, i used WELLA Number 10/69 Illumina Coloring (I got mine on amazon) with a 10% developer to to tone out the yellow, it left me with a nice cooler tone. It's salon stuff so actually works. Alot of box dye stuff is pretty ineffective. Glad your presentation went well!

Alsohuman · 15/06/2020 19:43

Congratulations on the promotion.

NatalieLollipop · 15/06/2020 19:46

If you can get to Boots before tomorrow afternoon, Colour B4 hair colour remover really works. Good luck x

WhoWouldHaveThoughtThat · 15/06/2020 20:03

I think you may have inadvertently bought the XXXXXL size face mask... You may want to try and get a smaller one for the presentation.

Winterwoollies · 15/06/2020 20:04

Purple shampoo won’t cut it. You need a proper toner. Wella do a good one. I use the Wella Colour Fresh 10/81. The bleached hair is very porous and ‘grabs’ at the purple tones to counteract the warmth. You’ve not actually done anything wrong, toning is nearly always required in bleaching to make it ashy and a lot less yellow.
