To feel sorry for woman who believe their lip fillers make them more attractive??

It’s not really AIBU as it’s my opinion but anyway...

I was at work yesterday and a young woman came in and clear as day had lip fillers. I was looking thinking , I can not understand why people pay to have this done. It looks awful.

You can tell straight away that they’ve had fillers

I assume slightly enhancing them can be a positive in some cases, but some just go too far until they look like comedy lips and over do it.

I was just looking thinking, I bet that woman looked more appealing and attractive to the average person with her own, natural lips!

I felt sorry for her that she was thinking that would make her more attractive....

I dread my DD growing up seeing these imagines and finding them beautiful.

@ShebaShimmyShake Erasing your n 11 lines won't be particularly noticeable to some who've never seen you before.

Isthisfinallyit · 12/06/2020 17:17

I'm mostly sad that so many women are all trying to look alike. Why not embrace the quirky things that makes someone charming? Why does everyone need massive eyebrows and lips and so much make up that you have no idea what their skin tone is? Most women actually look healthier and more attractive with a little bit less fake.

userabcname · 12/06/2020 17:17

I personally don't like the look of lip fillers. I do think they look obvious. I also don't like tattoos. But, whatever. People can do what like they like and I'm sure many people don't like the way I look.

HavelockVetinari · 12/06/2020 17:18

@MorrisZapp

The reason why you've never seen a natural pair is because if they looked natural you wouldn't know it was filler.

I usually have botox, nobody knows or has noticed. So the idea that injections 'never look natural' just means 'some people overdo it and end up with an obvious result'.

This.
AgeLikeWine · 12/06/2020 17:19

I certainly don’t feel sorry for them. It’s their body, and if they want to look ridiculous, that’s up to them. Ditto tattoos. 🤷‍♀️

It's not noticeable to people who see me every day!

Russellbrandshair · 12/06/2020 17:20

You don’t sound too nice yourself

What’s the matter?! I’m entitled to my opinion and I’m allowed to think you sound horrible - no different to the opinion you are expressing under the guise of faux concern. I’m allowed to feel as I like!

Circe2020 · 12/06/2020 17:22

Think some people are getting frustrated as they can't access their practitioners atm. Judging by some responses.

AllNaturalIngredients · 12/06/2020 17:22

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

SquashedSpring · 12/06/2020 17:22

I would say the one on the left looks like fillers and the one of the right looks like subtle lip liner has been used or tatooed.

fridpst · 12/06/2020 17:22

I posted to soon it won't be particularly noticeable or have a dramatic change on the way you look. However if someone is partaking in botox & fillers to ward off the ageing process it is noticeable.

Starcup · 12/06/2020 17:22

Criticising other women under the guise of "I feel sooooo sorry for you" is a far more worrying trend than what a woman chooses to do with her body

@FatalSecrets

So let’s say the new fashion trend in 2021 was to get an ear stitched to your forehead:

If someone said that they feel sorry for women that feel they need to do this to look more attractive... and they would look better without doing it-

How can you say that they were criticising women? They are criticising the society that makes women feel the need to do this. Big difference.

Some people like to make a mountain out of a molehill

If they’re done subtly you won’t notice them, you’ll just think the person has full lips. It is possible!

Well I might not be old enough yet to say much about that, but nobody has ever noticed that my 11 lines have gone, which is surprising given how deep they were. Makes me laugh when people insist they can ALWAYS TELL. Yes, yes, of course you can.
HeronLanyon · 12/06/2020 17:24

I feel very sad that any woman would make herself look so damaged.

Of course you are but your bluntness isn’t a nice trait either. Just pointing it out Smile

Yes the conformity is an aspect I find troubling as often they end up with the same nose, lips etc & end up looking very similar. Variety & uniqueness is beauty imo.

Dontjudgeme101 · 12/06/2020 17:25

I agree l think it lots ridiculous.

Oblomov20 · 12/06/2020 17:26

I don't get it either. Leslie Ash. Seems to be all the rage for young girls these days.
Plus micro bladed eyebrows.
I just don't get it.

HeronLanyon · 12/06/2020 17:26

I should add I feel sad that this is what society has done to some. Really crap !

Maybe some sort of nod to that in your OP would have been helpful if your intention really was to criticise society...?

Unfortunately it just seemed to be unkindly over-critical of someone's appearance.

fridpst · 12/06/2020 17:28

@ShebaShimmyShake but maybe your 11 lines were not noticeable to anyone else? I remember losing a stone after dc1 & being confused that no one noticed.

I couldn't tell you which of my friends have 11 lines or not, I'm looking at them not their wrinkles.

You don't like someone's opinion, so instead of saying "I disagree" and articulating exactly what you don't like about the opinion, you call them vile? Very mature.
