It’s not really AIBU as it’s my opinion but anyway...

I was at work yesterday and a young woman came in and clear as day had lip fillers. I was looking thinking , I can not understand why people pay to have this done. It looks awful.

You can tell straight away that they’ve had fillers

I assume slightly enhancing them can be a positive in some cases, but some just go too far until they look like comedy lips and over do it.

I was just looking thinking, I bet that woman looked more appealing and attractive to the average person with her own, natural lips!

I felt sorry for her that she was thinking that would make her more attractive....

I dread my DD growing up seeing these imagines and finding them beautiful.

@Yesmate

Bigoted. Are you serious. What a ridiculous comment. You have literally said “They look awful” to me that’s the same as saying they look shit.
Bigoted. Jesus Christ

You’ve Made out that I d just started the thread to say how awful the ‘duck lip’ looks- now that’s not true really is it?

If you care to read the rest of my posts etc you will see it’s coming from a ‘concerned place’.

Ok I really don't think mine look like filler.

Hit me vipers Wink

Defenbaker · 12/06/2020 23:56

YANBU to think that overdone lip fillers look awful, but the people who have their lips overfilled are probably aiming for a look that's a bit OTT, because they think it's attractive. Their face, their choice, but I agree that overfilled lips look dreadful.

RyanBergarasTeeth · 12/06/2020 23:58

@Doggybiccys i was trying to find a photo of that girl. She has stated she wants her lips even bigger. The sick part is someone is willing to do that damaging her for life. It should be illegal. Really its a cosmetic treatment that needs regulating and if practicioners abuse it they should be banned from their profession.

Doggybiccys · 12/06/2020 23:58

@aphrodites - I agree. The cosmetic industry is still disproportionately funded by women who are socialised from birth to look and be a certain way. There were 3 girls in my DDs year at school (3 years ago) whose parents would take them to Thailand for breast implants at age 14/15 because they were depressed about how they looked. These same girls now have lip fillers and one has had Botox at age fucking 18! Shocking.

Titsywoo · 13/06/2020 00:02

@StarScream22

They’re so obvious and look shit. They age everyone who had them by about 20 years too.
Agreed. My friends 20 year old daughter had them done. She is one of the most naturally pretty girls I've ever seen and now she looks odd and a lot older.
Doggybiccys · 13/06/2020 00:02

@RyanBergarasTeeth - a lot of this extreme type of stuff is women In poverty from eastern bloc countries I guess trying to become famous / make money and it is horrible that “professionals “ are willing to do it.

WhatWouldYouDoWhatWouldJesusDo · 13/06/2020 00:02

Hot they look better than some but can still see the crease at the top........I'm guessing yours were quite full to start with ?

Titsywoo · 13/06/2020 00:05

@HotSince82 I can personally tell on yours yes. My best friend has them done and although its subtle theres a sort of odd curl to the top lip. Also too many people try to get the top lip too close in size to the bottom lip which is unnatural so looks obviously "odd".

Yesmate · 13/06/2020 00:08

Whatever your reasons for starting the post using the word bigoted towards me was offensive.

If you are truly concerned then find an organisation to support, a campaign to support, start a petition with regards to regulations etc and monitoring of amounts injected.

Defenbaker · 13/06/2020 00:08

Abusive language and aggressive attitude, uncalled for. OP should be able to state that she doesn't like the look of lips overfilled with chemicals, and question this fad, without others being aggressive.

Alsohuman · 13/06/2020 00:10

Sorry @HotSince82, they look filled to me.

alibongo5 · 13/06/2020 00:10

Kylie Minogue has had a lot done. But it's impossible to know what because it's subtle
Errh. No. It is blatantly obvious that she has had loads of work done. Her face doesn't really move.

Gwenhwyfar · 13/06/2020 00:13

@LaurieMarlow

You wouldn't spend that money if you lived alone in a cave.

There are lots of things you wouldn’t spend money on if you lived in a cave. Nice clothes, makeup, underwear, even shampoo.

Do you have an issue with those?

I don't have an issue with them and I don't particularly have an issue with fillers. I have an issue with people saying they do these things just for themselves when it's obviously not true.

Thank you 🙏

I've only seen one person's lips which didn't look overfilled. Hers looked subtle and enhanced her face. The rest, bloody awful.

WowLucky · 13/06/2020 00:31

Yes, that's how I feel about all of this stuff Gwenhwyfar. People should obviously do what makes them happy but don't kid yourself you're doing it for yourself. If no one could see you, you wouldn't bother and on that basis maybe be a bit more honest about why/how/if it makes you happy.

WhatWouldYouDoWhatWouldJesusDo · 13/06/2020 00:36

I think WhenPushComes lips look really good tho. I really wouldn't have known they'd been filled.

Starcup · 13/06/2020 01:00

Would you say these lips have been filled? Late 30’s female

Hot I dont think I would guess if I had never met you before but it is quite obvious when its ponted out.

user1471565182 · 13/06/2020 01:06

It also changes the lip texture though and I think thats more obvious than the shape in some cases

Colom · 13/06/2020 01:32

I had it done once two years ago. DH was the only person I told. None of my family noticed! None of them. My sisters are very image conscious - they notice these things. I only said it a year or so later (when the filler had worn off) as my younger sister was considering it. They were astounded they hadn't noticed.

I noticed. It was very subtle. I got the minimum amount injected just to give a little bit more oomph.

HotSince82 · 13/06/2020 01:44

@Starcup no those have not been filled.

EmperorCovidula · 13/06/2020 04:29

YABU. I don’t like the over filled look myself but it’s better than thin lips or lips that have gone empty with age. I fully intend to get mine filled when the time comes.

EmperorCovidula · 13/06/2020 04:35

@Gwenhwyfar a lot of people do do these things for themselves. I wear nice clothes even when I’m not going to see anyone because I like seeing pretty things. Likewise if it comes to a day when I feel like I want lip fillers I’ll get them done. It’s not because I care about how other people perceive me (I’m married with children so any incentive to be attractive to others has long since disappeared). Some people just want to be able to look at themselves in the mirror and like what they see even if no one else does. For a lot of people having a nice body is no different to buying nice things to look at in one’s house.
