To wonder what happens in society now that will be frowned upon by our descendants

There is lots of things our ancestors did in the past that we quite rightly think are morally reprehensible.

I’m wondering how history will judge us! What things will our descendants judge us for?

I’m thinking:
Destroying the environment
People in 3rd world country making our clothes for peanuts

@Alsohuman

It’s lasted millennia across virtually every culture so I very much doubt that. I wouldn’t be surprised if it went the other way

It's in rapid decline in every part of the developed world, so if we're talking about a future where there is less privation, people have easier access to education and information, I'd expect the decline to continue in the already developed nations but begin to show itself in more deprived parts of the world also.

Basically, the more you educate people, the lesser their reliance on fairy tales and other traditional crutches like 'magic' and superstition. If you truly want to liberate the third world from endemic poverty, then educating people is essential.

Not religion entirely but a lot of religious practices- i.e, there will likely always be people who believe in a God figure but they may not attend church for it.

Also with consuming animal products. Humans are omnivores, I don't think that we're ever going to get around that completely, but the sheer amount of it consumed will probably be condemned.

Our overall attitude to the environment. There isn't really an excuse for it

The Monarchy

The thing is, we have no idea what direction we're going to go in. What would disappoint me is if future generations lacked the necessary perspective to not be "shocked" at what we did. I think it's wrong that women weren't allowed to vote but it doesn't shock me. I think the divine right of kings and the power held by the early church was wrong but it's hardly shocking. There has pretty much always been someone on top.

Covid denial.

This kind of patronising bullshit makes my blood boil. The arrogant belief that nobody educated has any kind of religious belief is bad enough - and patently untrue. But the total disrespect for other people’s belief systems is far, far worse.

I’m glad you consider yourself educated, I think you’ve just put your complete pig ignorance on display.
