To think that Emma Watson is no feminist

So after JKR published her incredibly powerful essay and disclosed being a survivor of domestic abuse and sexual violence, Emma decides to tweet that trans women are women. Emma doesn’t condemn the misogynist abuse and threats of sexual violence that JKR has received, nor is she concerned about the facts JKR has shared of an over 4000% increase in girls being referred to gender clinics, or how autistic girls are disproportionately represented.

What is Emma’s “feminism” for exactly?

As for describing JK who was a victim of DV as an outdated dinosaur running a sob story, what a despicable thing to think and say and by your own standards you are no feminist modern or otherwise.

Come on, you should know by now. Women aren't allowed to speak up for themselves, they are allowed to centre themselves in anything, that is exclusionary. Of course its women's job to care for everyone, sort out everyone's problems, move over for anyone who needs the room. That's what true feminism is. I know this because a load of males have told me so.

This current 'wokeness' (that term makes me wretch) is not the same as feminism. The fad for not offending anyone and being ultra liberal etc does my head in because it actually harms a lot important causes and this is a case in point. She is not a feminist as she is more concerned with being seen in the correct light and not offending the trans population rather than standing up for women and victims of DV.
I find it insulting to be referred to as 'someone who menstruates'. I am a woman.
Emma Watson is a little girl acting as an activist and role model and not doing a very good job of it.

This genuinely made me laugh.

Feminism is about caring for everyone (because women?), but only about the people that agree with you of course, and a woman sharing her stories of abuse to explain why she thinks female only spaces are important is a 'dinosaur' and running a 'sob story'. Presumably she deserved all of the abuse she received too? How incredibly modern and forward thinking indeed.

Why do I have to provide proof? It is widely reported. Does anyone else have to provide proof of being abused, or only trans people?

Just because many well known trans women report no issues does not mean that it doesn’t happen!

It always comes down to toilets but those trouble me less than communal changing rooms and showers, prisons, refuges and violent crime statistics. Also less than the prospect of very young people who just can't know for sure yet who they are being given puberty blockers that could affect their fertility.

Well she doesn't seem to give a shit about the many women and girls from religious backgrounds (particularly ethnic minorities) that will no longer be able to use single sex provision if we allow men into those spaces.

It’s also widely reported that male predators have identified as female to actively harm females.

Where I work, additional, gender neutral, fully self contained loos were set up for all once the transwoman registered her problem.

And I have to say, saying that transwomen claim no problem using the ladies captures the total disregard for women. Some women might well have a problem using the unisex facilities, but they are not asked and their opinion doesn't matter. Transwomen have no problem, women do ? who cares? It's only women , and probably old women at that. Probably ugly old women

Oh please, I'm about to split my sides laughing, you are joking aren't you? Why do you have to provide proof, does anyone else have to provide proof of being abused or only trans people? Have you not seen, heard or read how women are put through hoops and expected to justify everything they say on this matter, how they have to constantly provide proof after proof and even then that is dismissed as in the cases of Karen White and Katie Dolatowski, you've dismissed those cases yourself.

A perfect example of the dismissal and disbelief of women subjected to abuse is on this thread whereby JK's DV is referred to as a 'sob story'.

Women should never have to justify or explain their reasons for saying "No", one "No" should be enough and accepted, but it isn't is it? A battering ram is taken to it, it must be broken down, ignored, explained, justified. No should be the end of the discourse, it is when it comes out of the mouth of a man but it never is when it comes out of the mouth of woman.

On just about every similar thread ive been on women are asked to provide proof of being abused

I tend to take people at their word So ive no skin in this games ...but to infer that only trans people are asked for proof of abuse is wrong

Are they really opinions though, if she can't back them up? All I have ever seen from Emma Watson is lazy, clichéd rhetoric about feminism, about choosing to wear high heels or flats, about being empowered to do whatever you want, about being kind and inclusive. I've never seen her actually get into anything deeply, and especially not on this issue.

It's one thing to sycophantically tell Paris Lees that of course she would be happy to have Paris in her changing room, that looks good, it's kind, it's inclusive, and that's what women should be right? It's quite another to answer, well, any of the questions that have been posed on this thread (that no one has actually yet answered!)

Emma Watson should know that none of the rights that she has as a woman: the right to vote, to right to an education, the right not to be raped by her husband, the right to an abortion etc, came about by women before her being 'kind'.

She acts like a girl. Being significantly older than her I look at many younger women (certainly not all) who act like girls. I myself acted like a girl in my 20s and did not have the experience and knowledge to talk convincingly about certain topics.

She may be 30 but she expresses herself in a way that would suggest she is far younger. To me she is a girl.
