To find it disturbing that Peppa Pig visits a zoo?

Who decides who gets put there? Are they criminals? Is it just a prison? What have the animals done to be put there? Do they shout for help and band their cups on the bars as the free animals walk by.

Do they get let out if they behave? Or finish their sentence? Do they only imprison 4 of each animal at a time?

Is lockdown driving me to ask questions no adult should care about??

I get a bit WTF? when I see children's TV programmes with animal characters and they are seen walking their pet dog on a lead or have a hamster in a cage. So you get a bear or pig or something as a character keping naother animal as a pet! modern day slavery, surely!

BobbyBlueHat · 10/06/2020 00:14

And why do some of them talk and some of them don't?

DP said the same thing the other day. He asked the question whilst standing looking befuddled in the middle of the room.

I of course I assumed it was a standard , losing my mind if I see another cartoon type of comment.....you know like "where in hell does Ryder, ostensibly a 10 year old boy , get the money for all the gadgets for the paw patrol, and where on earth are his parent ?" Or " clearly Dilys had an affair with fireman Sam because have you seen the colour of Norman's hair ?"...but no , he looked at me expecting an actual answer ?Hmm

I settled with " because her parents have finally got fed up of her whining and this is the equivalent of visiting military schools to pick one "

Fortunately DC had wandered off to the kitchen (for the 49t8392 attempt to find a snack that day) so didn't hear.

Pepper's family are upper middle class. Daddy is an architect and Mummy farts around writing children's books and booking trips to the Italian villa. So my theory is that the zoos are full of the poorer animals. It makes sense in an Animal Farm kinda way.

canigooutyet · 10/06/2020 00:28

Before I had kids I used to love watching things like pingu etc when I was stoned 🤣
On the odd occasion I’ve been child free over the years, peppa pig, zoo lane, tellytubbies, in the night garden etc make more sense 🤣

Come to think of it watching rainbow is funny as fuck. Thought it was naff as a kid loool.

Bloody lockdown I get no chance to zone out in front of kids tv 🤣 🤣

MinorArcana · 10/06/2020 00:28

What kind of animals were in the zoo?

DamnYankee · 10/06/2020 00:36

Well, @MinorArcana, clearly not pigs. Smile
It's been a while since I've watched little kids' shows, but I always thought Caillou should have been put behind bars.

DamnYankee · 10/06/2020 00:37

Animal Farm

^ This

Chocolatefixeseverything · 10/06/2020 01:18

The rabbits are the size of horses I cant get past that! Absolutely terrifying

Yorkshirepudding1987 · 10/06/2020 01:27

I love that episode.

I always wonder why there is a doctor and a vet on Peppa though.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 10/06/2020 01:30

Well If you think about it, well not even if you think about its a fact.
We're also animals aren't we and we visit zoos and farms and keep animals as pets.

MoonBaby1 · 10/06/2020 01:38

David Mitchell and Jo Brand are in the zoo episode. It’s a corker!

Scott72 · 10/06/2020 02:43

It would be more disturbing if she visited a deli.

sleepydragons · 10/06/2020 02:55

I'd prefer it if Peppa did a Greg Wallace style factory programme. Starting with the bacon factory.

Marshmallow91 · 10/06/2020 08:18

I want to know why everything in peppa pig is cute, except Guinea pigs. They're ugly, wirey looking monstrosities in the show, but in reality they're cute little flufty balls of squeek.

My theory is the artist doesn't like them.

Also how was Mr Potato conceived?

TheGreatWave · 10/06/2020 08:25

They also have a BBQ, how does that work?

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 10/06/2020 08:31

I always wonder why there is a doctor and a vet on Peppa though.

Not to mention the fact that the doctor is a brown bear and the vet is a hamster - and they are both a similar size.

They also have a BBQ, how does that work?

Presumably, that's why Peppa and George only have one set of grandparents left.

Also how was Mr Potato conceived?

Test-tuber baby.

Dottysmum18 · 10/06/2020 08:32

I pondered this for a disturbing amount of time and from what I can see mammals can talk walk and other categories of species are the pets and in the zoos

Vanillaradio · 10/06/2020 08:34

I think in Peppa world mammals are like people everyone else e.g fish, reptiles, insects etc are animals.
I think Mr Potato is someone dressing up as a potato same with Mrs Carrot etc...

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 10/06/2020 08:38

There's a Bojack Horseman episode about factory farming which sort of addresses these issues (in an extremely disturbing way).

Also an episode where the cow waitress looks daggers at someone who orders steak.

JesusInTheCabbageVan · 10/06/2020 08:39

They also have a BBQ, how does that work? Ah, they only eat bbq corn on the cob (much to my disappointment).

crispysausagerolls · 10/06/2020 08:42

We don’t watch peppa pig in this house because DS is into Bing and I only have mental space for one obnoxious little animal at a time. But this thread has me absolutely creasing with laughter. I have spent more time than I care to admit googling why flop and the grown ups in bing are weird woolly toys and where their parents are etc.

TickleMyTitsTilFriday · 10/06/2020 08:42

What about Mickey Mouse, he has a pet dog Pluto (who doesn't speak) yet a friend Goofy, also a dog who speaks Confused

StonedRoses · 10/06/2020 08:43

In Fireman Sam Norman is clearly Sam’s illegitimate son he doesn’t acknowledge. So he resorts to starting fires to get his fathers attention.

KitMarlowesCodpieceOfThigh · 10/06/2020 08:54

Marshmallow91 Their guinea pigs are honestly my favourite animals of all time. They make me laugh every time I see them!

I think that this is just the tip of the iceberg where Peppa Pig problems are concerned. Why are all the children's names alliterative apart from George Pig's? What were Mummy and Daddy Pig called before they had Peppa and George? Is Mr. Potato a potato or a person (animal?) in a suit? Why does Miss Rabbit have so many jobs? Where is Madame Gazelle from, and are those frameless glasses or hideous eyeliner around her eyes? Why is Miss Rabbit so loud?
