To find it disturbing that Peppa Pig visits a zoo?

Who decides who gets put there? Are they criminals? Is it just a prison? What have the animals done to be put there? Do they shout for help and band their cups on the bars as the free animals walk by.

Do they get let out if they behave? Or finish their sentence? Do they only imprison 4 of each animal at a time?

Is lockdown driving me to ask questions no adult should care about??

Loving this thread Grin

You beat me to it with the bacon factory

crispysausagerolls · 10/06/2020 09:01

@StonedRoses

😂😂😂😂😂😂

TowelCurtainBob · 10/06/2020 09:04

Without googling, who can sing the Bing Bong song?

Pinkypink · 10/06/2020 09:04

Sorry but for disturbing viewing nothing can top Balamory.
That was a fountain or weirdness esp when watched at 6 in the morning suffering from morning sickness -aaaah takes me back

Funtcase95 · 10/06/2020 09:14

@crispysausagerolls did you find an answer?? Why is Bing so illiterate? Is Flop his carer?

Standupthisisnotateaparty · 10/06/2020 09:16

What about Bing. He and the other animals are looked after by a small toy version of themselves. He also gets away with anything because its a 'Bing Thing'.

Nottherealslimshady · 10/06/2020 09:18

We are also animals imprisoning other animals. We did also used to keep humans in zoos.

Riddo · 10/06/2020 09:41

I haven't watched Peppa for years as my mindees are growing up but the Bing Bong song is now going round my head 🙄.

I'm sure that Grandpa dog and Granny pig have a romantic history 🙂

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 10/06/2020 09:48

Maybe it's just me, but the Pig grandparents remind me of Lucy's parents in Not Going Out.

crispysausagerolls · 10/06/2020 09:55

@Funtcase95

I didn’t but it led me down a rabbit hole - I recommend you google and read “an open letter to flop”. Fucking hilarious.

And yes, WHY CAN’T BING SPEAK PROPERLY?! 🤬

crispysausagerolls · 10/06/2020 09:56

@Standupthisisnotateaparty

Already mentioned previous page.

He’s a bit of a whiny bellend, is Bing. Not as bad as Pando who is the shit from hell - completely enabled by his fluffy thing. The “swing” episode gives me the rage. He has had his 10 seconds why isn’t she getting him off!

TorkTorkBam · 10/06/2020 09:59

You know humans are animals?

Humans are one of the eight types of Great Ape. The other seven are often in zoos.

What's the difference?

MissRabbitIsExhausted · 10/06/2020 10:00

Love the Zoo episode, Mrs Wildebeest! 😂We watch far too much Peppa in this house, we are currently enjoying “Peppa pigs festival of fun” 😒
When do nurseries go back again?!

pinktaxi · 10/06/2020 10:02

Definitely a touch of the Covid Crazies!

SierraOscar · 10/06/2020 10:10

This thread has made my morning! During this lockdown I have suffered many many hours of Peppa Pig and have had these thoughts whirring through my brain.

I like the episode where peppa is learning about things at night time and they find mr fox prowling about trying to get to the chickens.

Ylvamoon · 10/06/2020 10:16

Ahhhh! Reading this thread brings back memories of endless hours of torture! Grin
So glad DC are far to old for Peppa Pig or I'd go mad.

On the other hand, there is a left over in our family traditions... whenever the DC have a little argument I start singing the Peace and Harmony song. 😭😭😭

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 10/06/2020 10:29

I like the episode where peppa is learning about things at night time and they find mr fox prowling about trying to get to the chickens.

And he's already bringing Freddy up to be a wide boy just like his old dad!

As you say, although anthropomorphised and sanitised, some of the characters still obviously have their natural animalistic instincts (not talking about the very large Rabbit family!) I love the part where Mr Wolf asks Daddy Pig what material his house is made of and Daddy Pig replies "Bricks - so don't even think about it!"

Bananalanacake · 10/06/2020 10:35

Good tip. I'll try that next time they fight, "peace and harmony throughout the world"

PissedOffProf · 10/06/2020 10:35

Peppa Pig is an allegory for late capitalism. Of course she visits a zoo.

bookmum08 · 10/06/2020 10:36

I believe once parents start attempting to analyse kids telly it's time to change the channel. Yes step away from Cbeebies and Milkshake. For your own sanity. That part of your life is over. The children won't care. They will watch any old crap - children seem to enjoy You've Been Framed or Police Interceptors from the age of about 6. If you are lucky you can gently nudge them in the direction of E4 and programmes like Brooklyn 99. They won't get the jokes but will happily watch it and at least that's enjoyable telly for you.

Rosehip10 · 10/06/2020 10:37

Why, like most children's programming, does Peppa and family need to be middle class?

Comeintothegardenflora · 10/06/2020 10:45

In the book series The Wicked Years by Gregory Maguire there are Animals and animals, those that start with a capital letters are able to talk and have human characteristics such as walking upright and wearing clothes, perhaps the writers were inspired by this. I did have a theory that the animals in Peppa were either birds, reptiles, fish or insects and the Animals were all mammals but then the guinea pigs behave like animals with a small a so that can't be right, I've thought about this too much.

AlexCabot · 10/06/2020 10:53

I always assumed that Miss Rabbits many jobs were to pay off her massive gambling debts.

She's also developed an amphetamine addiction trying to keep up with all her jobs.

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 10/06/2020 10:56

Why, like most children's programming, does Peppa and family need to be middle class?

They have Mr Fox (and Freddy) as their token non-middle-class character, same as in Topsy & Tim, everybody is very MC apart from their Lee-Mackalike dad. Maybe Mummy just likes a bit of rough.

sockybug · 10/06/2020 11:11

I dont have a problem with peppa pig going to the zoo, its a lovely little fictional happy family cartoon that kids love, i wouldnt start to pick faults with it, peppa pig and her family live like humans so they do all that humans do including going to the zoo so no big deal Grin i do find it funny how many jobs miss rabbit has though shes an inspiration and must be exhausted being a taxi driver, helicopter pilot, firefighter, nurse, bus driver, library assistant, salesperson at the aquarium, face painter, train driver, Ice cream lady, Supermarket cashier ,Theme park ticket seller, recyling operator.. and i think there is more lol
