To be absolutely fucking livid

tinkywinkyshandbag · 02/06/2020 12:16

I'm just feeling so pissed off with the British public right now. Seeing the news stories of people crammed onto beaches, stuck in traffic jams, stupid bloody tombstoners, people queuing for 3 hours plus to get into Ikea, nobody wearing masks, tourists crapping in hedges and leaving all their rubbish behind in my beautiful village - what is wrong with people?!

I realise that Coronavirus may not be as dangerous as it first appeared but it is still here, it's still killing 100's of people a day, it's still bad news for anyone overwight, over 50 or with underlying health conditions.

All these people behaving as if it's "gone away". It hasn't!

I'm livid that the government acted too little too late. We didn't close our borders, we haven't got a proper track and trace in place. We look like idiots. Now they are saying oh it's fine to have BBQ's but bring your own ketchup - for goodness sake!

I do think lockdown should be tentatively eased - as a self employed person I've been happy to start to go back to work but I'm being so so careful with hygiene and social distancing. Baby steps. I also do think people should be able to go out for a walk or see relatives so long as social distancing. But there seems to be a general mood of oh it's fine we can all just go back to normal - in fact worse than normal, let's all crowd together and have a big old party!

I'm afraid there will be a second wave due to all this irresponsible behaviour and that we will need to go back to full lockdown, putting businesses and people's health in jeopardy. I'm worried that my daughter won't be able to start uni in September. I'm worried that my neices who are doctors will have to deal with the fall out from all this. I'm worried my husband will be unable to get another job. I'm scared and depressed.

And all these fuckers ignoring social distancing are just taking risks with their own lives and everybody elses - when they visit a beach resort or other tourist place they use the toilets, use the cashpoints, visit the supermarkets or corner shop - all prime places to spread the virus far and wide.

I just don't think the message to be careful has been hammered home hard enough.

Op: you saw Some pictures on the news of a crowded beach, a queue at Ikea and a queue at McDonald’s. I think you ABU. What you see on the news does not represent the population of this country, please do not assume it does. Furthermore no one is stopping you from staying in your home or wearing your mask. Life goes on, people need And want to work, socialise and generally lead their lives.

canigooutyet · 03/06/2020 19:43

And whoop Dee doo, the idiot read some books and got a degree or whatever. This just shows what a sham government is.

Imagine walking into an operating theatre and saying I’m qualified cos I read some books. You wouldn’t get an interview to begin with.

The only way to have a fair government is to get those with the most experience etc gets a chance. How does it make sense that the person in charge of medical stuff, has no experience let alone knowledge.

All the inexperienced inept idiots have done since well forever do it for their own interests. Look at the plonker who gave his best mate the track and trace contract. Thatcher and arms deals. Blair and his personal interests or those of his wife.

I say idiots. They are brilliant how they do it time after time. The crimes they commit and help big businesses commit crimes.

Just like directors in private companies they get big bonuses whilst the underlings get more cutbacks. And the fans blindly follow until they too get screwed over.

MPs don’t like these questions. I must be on a list, haven’t had anyone campaigning on my door for at least 6 years.

Oh yea another tower block that’s unaffordable to most might bring in local work. But what about existing people? Instead there goes another school, another vital local service.

I’ve been livid for years with the blatancy, the hypocrisy, people policing others based purely on their own values, and often with loads of assumptions. When you don’t fit inside the box, people think your the crazy one. Or you get shouted down saying you don’t have a clue even though you unlike them can give examples from all sides.

You deal with it. You adapt. You challange when needed. You no longer care what other people think. It’s liberating, mentally hard work but bloody worth it. I’ve dabbled quiet a lot in the in the box thinking, it’s dangerous.

DrManhattan · 03/06/2020 19:43

Would it have been any different if Boris had sacked Cummings (like he should have done).
I think so. People dont like to see inequality.
When we were all in it together I think people were talking it more seriously. Not so much now.

Pinkkgaga · 03/06/2020 19:46

😂Grin people saying petiole who queued for ikea deserve to get it? I went the day it opened, went McDonald’s today the day it opened and I’ve been to the beach. Guess I deserve it. Can’t stay at home forever

Mulhollandmagoo · 03/06/2020 19:48

@DrManhattan I couldn't have put it better myself 🙌 it would have made a huge difference, because people would then have been aware that ignoring the rules wouldn't be tolerated. It was a huge ask of people when the government implemented the lockdown and we were made to feel like we did it all for nothing if Dominic Cummings could do as he liked

Teddybear27 · 03/06/2020 19:49

Some people are selfish and don't realise the importance of taking care about what they are doing and also the news makes things worse because they will really only focus on the negative side of things, yes, I know they showed Clap for Carers but the news seems to be all doom and gloom and is not good for our mental health so unless you need to don't look at the news as that will make you feel low. Most people I know are still being very careful about social distancing. Just concentrate on what you are doing, if other people want to be selfish, well, then that is their affair. All the people I have spoken to are still being very careful about going out, who they are seeing, how they are seeing them and are taking steps to be careful. Please try not to worry too much. Keep safe, stay sane... ❤️

petelacey · 03/06/2020 19:50

The same people that are taking the michael will be the first to blame the Government. Look it's unknown territory, nobody knows best, but media seem obsessed with trivia and covidiots are having a party like we've won something !

thenovice · 03/06/2020 19:52

Look at it this way. There will be some Darwinian selection. Some idiots may remove themselves from the gene pool. The thing that upsets me is that NHS workers are then expected to help them. My sister's DDDH who was a paramedic has just died of Covid-19 leaving my sister and 3 kids heartbroken.
I totally get it that if we don't slowly go back to work we will all have to face the prospect of no more financial support. There is not enough money coming in in taxes to pay everyone to stay at home anymore. But partying and squishing together at beaches is just asking for trouble and people who do it do not deserve to have people like my BIL give their lives for them.

Otto85 · 03/06/2020 19:58

.....and the advisors to the government have got things wrong....Professor Neil Ferguson, disgraced advisor to the government, got his ‘educated guesstimate’ about our deaths spectacularly WRONG to the power of ten as highlighted by Professor Mark Levitt of Stanford Uni.....we have no hope if the so called scientists opinion is questionable

backmadeofglass · 03/06/2020 20:12

@thenovice I completely agree. I dread getting messages from fellow Nhs colleagues about which of my current/past colleagues have died from covid 19. I was hospitalised in April with it . Luckily I did not need to go up to intensive care but unpleasant and frightening nonetheless. I’m 45 and relatively healthy no previous illness. Went for my 6 week post covid check up yesterday . I’m still breathless at times and I’ve been left with a toe that is purple, cold and looks like it is trying to die. I’m dreading getting back on the wards as there’s no guarantee I’m immune to it now. Not to mention I’m missing my mum and my partner that I don’t live with. It makes me so angry how reckless and blasé some people are being . Unfortunately unless they get it or someone close to them gets it they won’t realise. I’ve streamlined my friend circle - I just can’t abide being associated with people disregarded the guidelines. Their actions along with those kind of people across the country could cause these restriction to be prolonged . I think its shown a divide in society. Those who are decent and give a shit about others - and those who simply do not and just are about themselves.

earnshaw47 · 03/06/2020 20:13

my husband and i have been sheltering for two months now, the farthest weve been has short walk round the block when its been quiet, yesterday we actually went a short car journey , just local, i was so angry , everyone seems to be behaving as normal, we passed shops , customers going in and out, no protection or social distancing , same everywhere really as far as we could see, its a bit of a slap in the face for the few of us who are doing our best, our local beaches and beauty spots are no so beautiful at the mo with litter etc, , ,,,,, what is wrong with these people, is it a case of Im alright jack

backmadeofglass · 03/06/2020 20:19

@Mylifesadrama

I had a hospital appointment this week. 2 receptionists in the dept, no screen and neither wearing masks. Was seen by 2 clinicians, again neither wore masks.

Saw at least another 5 members of staff, all of whom had no mask on, including the top consultant.

The department in question was the diabetes clinic.

This is scary . I had a clinic appointment yesterday . The app wasn’t allowed inside until 3 minutes before my time . All the staff were in PPE I was asked to wash my hands And use hand gel as I entered the building and there was a trolley with masks on if wanted to wear one .
BackBoiler · 03/06/2020 20:26

I think you are actually livid about people leaving shit in your bushes

MacBlank · 03/06/2020 20:32

bad news for anyone overwight, over 50 or with underlying health conditions. .... Thanks!

Well I'm fucked then!

caringcarer · 03/06/2020 20:46

I have only left house three times during lockdown. I am not sheltering but severe asthmatic. I keep seeing pictures of morons squashed on beaches and now idiots packed like sardines on demonstrations. Most of them BAME yet we hear BAME are at higher risk. People who go out and don't socially distance will cause second spike. They are too ignorant to get their selfish behaviour affects everyone when lockdown does not get lifted.

SomewhereEast · 03/06/2020 20:58

Does it ever occur to people that the pictures you see on social media may not be remotely representative? So the crowded beach gets photographed, & shared, & shared some more, & goes viral & eventually makes the Daily Wail. Meanwhile the perfectly clean social distanced blah blah beach I took the kids to last week doesn't, because who ever hit 'share' on a pic of people just going about their lives uncontroversially? It all reminds me of a fascinating article I once read about how the average Brit's perception of crime levels in their local community is generally vastly out of sync with actual crime levels, because every single burgled bike shed & graffited wall is exhaustively discussed on social media.

Kentonian12 · 03/06/2020 21:05

The government right from the start should have been tough with people flouting lockdown rules but they did not. In other countries they were very strict but here it is a 60 quid fine. It is like it never happened and I hope this does not come ba k through people selfish and adopting it will not happen to me attitude. If you are sick then you still need the NHS to save you like anyone else. Hope anyone that has been financially suffering gets through this okay as life is tough enough without this added worry as well.

Barney60 · 03/06/2020 21:08

Totally with you on this, am glad our pubs are closed, our village has been over run with idiots to get to the river during this warm weather, NONE social distancing. parking across drives, on double yellow lines, a mini bus of 12 lads with footballs carrier bags of larger, then lighting portable BBQs in woods, leaving them burning .weve had no rain for months getting pissed throwing 2 ltr plastic bottles and larger cans into river for wild life to get hurt, weve all SO sick of idiots are people REALLY this stupid?? a local man said about the cans and BBQs he was threatened, police waste of time! sick of them stay at home drink your larger get a kids paddling pool!

Pawsandnoses · 03/06/2020 21:37

There would be far more social distancing happening if everything were back to normal as people would be far more spread out instead of crowding to the few places that are open.

The hate is becoming suffocating, where people are branding everyone as idiots or breaking rules that are completely made up in their head. People are going quietly insane in their homes at the moment, dying from infections because they can't get a doctors appointment or dentists appointment. I am aware of several suicides because either they lost jobs, lost all hope or simply felt that this could be it forever.

People will crowd, people will queue, tombstoning off Durdle Door has happened forever. None of this previously made national press though. All I seem to see though in print though is 'idiots' 'morons' 'livid' 'FFS'. Just stop it! Be Kind and you might actually save someone's life.

Marzipancake · 03/06/2020 21:44

@Pawsandnoses well said. There are so many self righteous people lately labelling other people as idiots, morons.

Raspberryberret · 03/06/2020 21:51

In 2014/2015 nearly 30,000 people in the UK died of seasonal flu. For which we have a vaccination. We have eased the pressure on the NHS by lockdown - that was the aim. We now need the economy to recover and the majority of the population need to live the life we used to live - social distance where possible, wash hands more frequently and risk assess.

There will always be a number of people who sadly die with no underlying health issues but the majority are NOT at risk. The NHS was at risk not individuals.

Mental health and the economy must now be given a chance to recover.

I for one will make my own decisions on how best to avhieve that. If you can stay at home and be paid for the privilege good for you.

Raspberryberret · 03/06/2020 21:52

Tessabelle1 · 03/06/2020 22:00

I genuinely believe the government is hoping to force the second wave before winter

Before this year people queuing didn't matter did they? It's only during a pandemic that those things matter.

Be kind you say. Yes, we should be kind - to the drs and nurses with PTSD because of what they've witnessed, to the family of the paramedic above who has died, to the families of healthcare workers who have died, to other key workers and frontline staff who have caught this, to the vulnerable who are expected now to just crack on despite being at very great risk, to.the shielded who have given up.a huge amount and have no end in sight. So yes be kind to these people. Be kind to the twats packing out beaches or tomb stoning? I'll.pass on that thanks.

ibblebibbledibble · 03/06/2020 22:06

@ChoosingHim

Ugh I have just been to a pregnancy scan and I was the only pregnant woman there with a mask on. My face was sweating and it was harder to breathe but I am immuno suppressed and have health issues so had to keep it on. I kept thinking that if these other women in the waiting room had their masks on like they should then I could have safely removed it for a minute for a bit of relief. So annoying. No one seems to care, everyone seems to think it's over and nevermind who they could be harming.
They’re under no obligation to wear masks. What makes you think they are?
