Keir Stamer has gone quiet and segregated himself somewhat from the others calling for resignation etc.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's quietly lawyering out the back somewhere with a fine tooth comb?

Maestro7 · 27/05/2020 14:20

Saw today that his talk during the press conference of warning about coronavirus last year was all lies too! Apparently he edited his blog recently to add it in. The man is despicable. Lies lies and more lies

FliesandPies · 27/05/2020 14:35

Yep. Lies lies lies is all they know.

sleepingpup · 27/05/2020 14:39

Letting Michael Gove be his spokesperson

😉 sorry couldn't help myself. Made me laugh yesterday.

Humphriescushion · 27/05/2020 14:40

I am hoping for some good questions for boris later but wont hold my breath.

Shhhhh223 · 27/05/2020 14:43

this will bring the torys down if Boris doesn’t get rid, if a advisor ( puppet master ) can’t follow the rules set out by the government how the hell do they expect everyone else to. I feel for those family’s that have made huge personal sacrifices to follow the rules, it’s like a kick in the teeth

480Widdio · 27/05/2020 14:44

Ah found the Petition, almost up to 800,000 supporters now, keep signing people and share the hell out of it.

On Change.org.

The80sweregreat · 27/05/2020 14:54

Kier Starmer has gone quiet because a few labour MPs also broke rules and his choosing his words very carefully.
It's more on Twitter than here , but people are keen to bring this up. Mumsnet tends to be more left leaning so it's generally ignored.
The MPs didn't do things as DC did , but they still did things outside the rules during early lockdown days.
I'm furious about all this and think that DC should have resigned , but I'm also convinced that Keir is being careful for a reason as well.
As I said before, it's ripples on a pond!

Abuelita · 27/05/2020 14:58

Someone at Number Ten has been briefing papers with messages which contradicted the PM's message. Who is the Number Ten 'source' who's been issuing misleading and confusing information?

Boris needs to get a grip and root out whoever is undermining him. At the same time, he needs to sack Cummings. This might even kill two birds with one stone. Cummings boasted publicly that 'we' had done all they could to undermine Number Ten when they were at the DfE. He's not to be trusted.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 27/05/2020 14:58

I think Starmer is keeping quiet partly because watching the Tory party do this to themselves does more damage to public trust in the Government than if Labour bayed for blood (particularly if any Labour MPs have followed suit which is likely).

RoosterPie · 27/05/2020 14:59

Keir Starmer is biding his time. At the moment the story has momentum. I think if the momentum starts to die down he will have a plan to resurrect it and keep the pressure applied - for now he can sit pretty and watch them tie themselves in knots.

Notonthestairs · 27/05/2020 15:02

I rather hope Kier Starmer is focusing his energy on checking up on the promises made about Test, Track and Trace systems - I thought they were supposed to be in place before the schools reopened (did I get that wrong?)

DC is a less immediate or worrying issue as I think this will run regardless of his interference.

PigletJohn · 27/05/2020 15:21

"when your opponents are destroying themselves, don't interrupt them."

DuncinToffee · 27/05/2020 15:21

Labour is playing the long game, they can sit back and watch for now and keep focussing on the number of deaths, NHS, care sector etc.
They already got the goverment doing a u turn on the charge for foreign NHS workers.

Thanks for the new thread.

itsgettingweird · 27/05/2020 15:27

I'm signed up to the emails. All day I've been getting sent emails with the science information from the beginning. It's beginning to feel like propaganda. Like "here's all the science about how not everyone needed to comply to work".

Except all I keep seeing is the important parts that say they must give a clear message and gain trust for it to work Hmm

itsgettingweird · 27/05/2020 15:29

I didn't think Keir was in charge when Kinnock did that?
And the difference is he actually held his hands up and said it was pushing the boundaries (eg the medicine didn't actually have to come from him) and apologised.

itsgettingweird · 27/05/2020 15:31

when your opponents are destroying themselves, don't interrupt them.

I like that Smile

Agree. At the moment I'd rather he asked questions about that.

I will keep asking my Conservative MP about Cummings.

Roussette · 27/05/2020 15:34

I posted this elsewhere.
50 Tory MPs have broken ranks and 8 Cabinet Ministers (who are remaining anonymous)
Here they are

JamieLeeCurtains · 27/05/2020 15:35

Indeed, PigletJohn.

Liaison Committee on live at 4pm, BBC Parliament channel, apparently.

JamieLeeCurtains · 27/05/2020 15:40

Michael Fabricant is finally on a list I approve of. With Peter Boooooown.

FliesandPies · 27/05/2020 15:43

Is that list definitely bona fide? Fabricant??

tiredvommachine · 27/05/2020 15:45
this needs to be on this thread too for more leisurely viewing. Credit on the last thread to @24hoursfromtulsa
Humphriescushion · 27/05/2020 15:46

Is the parliament committee going to be on bbc one now? Just noticed this was scheduled and update later.
