He quite literally did. I self isolated with Covid alone in a bedroom while my family were in the house and we knew there was a strong possibility that we would all get sick. I didn't leave the house so as not to spread it further.
1000's of people did the same despite worries about how they would cope, their family.
He got bored and fancied a change of scene of he was going to be stuck indoors for 2 weeks.

I love a contrarian at a dinner party... but only the truly clever ones, who also have the manners and nous to read a room and not end up being boorish detractors who just end up making people feel awkward/annoyed.

I would have thought that DC would be clever enough to be a fairly good room reader, but as he clearly can't do so in a rose garden I now feel he'd be pretty much the same at dinner - unpleasantly entitled, self-centred, hitting exactly the wrong note.
