@jonad good point.

The Daily Mail front page has it right, it was an secret trip’. They knew they were doing wrong. They knew they weren’t acting reasonably.

thisenglishlife · 25/05/2020 22:43

Everyone, please look up Cumming's project that we are funding - ARPA, as well as Analyst and 'Peter Thiel Palantier'

Snog · 25/05/2020 22:44

DC's actions will send many people to their graves unnecessarily, that is the harsh truth of the situation. Their blood will be on his hands and on Boris's hands too.

This is because public compliance with coronavirus restrictions will be reduced now that we all know that we can decide things for ourselves based on parenting instinct rather than on following the actual rules.

Mass murder, due to the arrogance of DC and Boris feeling unable to carry on as PM without him.

I have written to my (labour) MP and signed the petition but this doesn't seem enough.

Peregrina · 25/05/2020 22:44

I thought the Daily Mail were said to be back pedalling on this morning's headline. Well, I can wait until tomorrow's run down of the papers. It depends how angry readers are - how many have suffered personally, not how many emails Tory Central Office are bombarding them with.

SharonasCorona · 25/05/2020 22:46

I’ve just read on Wiki that Cummings is obsessed with the book Anna Karenina. Anyone else think Cummings has a touch of Count Alexei Karenin to him? Grin

HeIenaDove · 25/05/2020 22:53

what happened to the #bekind “movement

Im guessing the guy who got tasered for travelling may have thought the same thing

And the guy who was told by a PO he couldnt stand in his own garden (this was around Easter too)

IloveParmaViolets · 25/05/2020 22:58

Apparently Dominic Cumming's sister is also a Director of IDOX, the company running the new CV-19 Track & Trace App. IDOX also runs the postal votes system..........
Can anyone verify this?

PotholeParadise · 25/05/2020 23:01

what happened to the #bekind “movement?

Ask Boris Johnson, who told me and every other parent who had faced the same situation as Dominic Cummings that Cummings had merely followed the instincts of a parent.

He implied that all of us who thought about the unnecessary impact on others and stayed inside in order to flatten the curve were poorer parents than Dominic Cummings. Tell me, was that kind?

sweetsaltypopcorn · 25/05/2020 23:02

@newroundhere

You don't need a trip to Barnard Castle to see how bad this looks, or how weak you appear. It concerns me that you don't care.

😂😂😂

"Is their going to be a redundancy scheme for all opticians if the guidance has been changed?"

I was at my local Morrisons the other day (not 250 miles away from me). As I emerged into the car park, I thought: things are looking a bit bleary. My eyesight was fine when i waited to get into the shop - what's gone wrong? Turned out I'd accidently put my reading glasses back on, instead of my sunglasses.

SharonasCorona · 25/05/2020 23:04

@IloveParmaViolets yes it’s true. Look up Alice Cummings on LinkedIn. She joined the IDOX board on 14 April 2020.

IloveParmaViolets · 25/05/2020 23:07

SharonasCorona thank you.
Well we're fucked aren't we?

While a press conference was happening in a rose garden, you may have missed this.

We now have the highest death rates from Covid of any country in the world

HeIenaDove · 25/05/2020 23:08

And if compliance with the restrictions becomes lax due to the BH weekends revelations those figures will get worse.

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 25/05/2020 23:09

PotholeParadise I don’t need or want to ask BJ anything.

I will take care of my own personal responsibilities, just as everyone should be doing as well, irregardless of being in the midst of a pandemic or not.

Just because someone does something does not mean we should all be doing it, what the media is doing to this family is wrong, they themselves are breaking the guidelines in the bullying of this family Confused

SharonasCorona · 25/05/2020 23:11

@IloveParmaViolets agreed. It smacks of nepotism, particularly as she joined the board on 14 April.

"Dominic Cummings has made clear he was motivated by trying to protect his son and he took steps to be safe.

I understand people had serious questions about his actions - indeed many of you have made huge sacrifices - but I do believe today he explained himself"

FFS!

SharonasCorona · 25/05/2020 23:13

They’re so out of touch with the public mood.

Peregrina · 25/05/2020 23:16

Sweden also has a high death rate - another country which hasn't locked down.

Eggybreadleg · 25/05/2020 23:18

He's just proven what we knew all along that he didn't want a lockdown and had no intention of following the guidance. His arrogance is staggering and matched only by Boris' hubris. Standing by Cummings is going to be the downfall of Boris.

PotholeParadise · 25/05/2020 23:19

Goody gumdrops. So, has Boris Johnson appreciated the rest of the UK's efforts to be socially responsible or not?

Just because someone does something does not mean we should all be doing it, what the media is doing to this family is wrong, they themselves are breaking the guidelines in the bullying of this family

I am not planning to ape DC. I do not see that this means I need to accept it when the prime minister endorses DC's behaviour and makes a speech on live TV implying that being socially responsible means what, that we lack parental instincts?

This is not about one man being an irresponsible arsehole any more. This is about the government contorting themselves to avoid admitting that he was irresponsible, and in the process, scorning all the sacrifices we the people have made across the country to control the spread of this virus and to "protect the NHS"

Fucking SO MUCH THIS!

MH1111 · 25/05/2020 23:21

The media shot them selves in the foot today, the longer the press conference went on the more stupid they looked.

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 25/05/2020 23:25

So, has Boris Johnson appreciated the rest of the UK's efforts to be socially responsible or not?

I believe he has, and he said this countless times in thanking the public for their continued support, however BJ is hardly a poster boy for self and public responsibility himself.

I don’t agree with BJ handling on this, I simply have a huge issue with the way the media has dealt with this, while not following the guidelines either.

thisenglishlife · 25/05/2020 23:26

No, it was Dominic that looked stupid. A stuttering, foolish liar.
