It happens all the time, they open a new profile, Start a thread then get banned again for being a previously banned poster, all they have to do is change their IP address.

One of the things that really worries me about this whole sorry episode is that the 2 people who are most likely running the country thought it was a good idea for DC to feed this load of shite story to the public, thinking it would get the public onside.

If their judgement is so poor, what other really important decisions are they going to get wrong? We cant afford poor decisions by government atm

thisenglishlife · 25/05/2020 22:03

So the mother might have been out of the isolation phase by that evening. By the skin of her teeth.
Mrs C never had a cough or fever according to Mr C - so she didn't have Corona?

FliesandPies · 25/05/2020 22:04

Thanks Oakmaiden, that's a lot clearer!

Somerville · 25/05/2020 22:06

For a start, trashing their own public-health legislation to defend him. It's absolutely sickening.

Doesn't bare thinking about

janeyloves · 25/05/2020 22:18

DC is a disgrace. Can't believe they are all supporting him. I'm furious.

Oakmaiden · 25/05/2020 22:18

Mrs C never had a cough or fever according to Mr C - so she didn't have Corona?

Well, in that case she should have been isolating from the start of DC's symptoms, and shouldn't have gone to hospital.

However, that is really neither here nor there. She is not a politician or government advisor, so what she does or doesn't do is none of our business.

Strictly speaking, though, DC should not have gone to collect them. Although, I guess, if he thought they all had CV then it does make sense for him to do it rather than to ask someone else.

I'm unsure how on the evening of the 2nd he was so unwell he couldn't stand but by the following morning was capable of driving his car, though. I reckon it is a magic car.

Fozzleyplum · 25/05/2020 22:18

Didn't I read that the sister and nieces live round the corner from DC in London? The very sister and nieces who were the childcare that DC drove to Durham to access. If so, it looks as though the whole family decamped to Durham for a couple of birthdays, and some trips out.

And he says he's never been tested for Covid. Is that because he knows very well that he never had it?

I also thought the inability to remember whether/when he filled the car with fuel was not credible. Obviously forgot to get his story straight about that before he faced the cameras, because he sure as hell would know exactly when and where he filled his car up.

FliesandPies · 25/05/2020 22:25

think that might be his wife's sister Fozzley?

Fozzleyplum · 25/05/2020 22:27

So the rest of us would have been expected to rely on the local family had we needed emergency cover. We've all seen the threads where people are really struggling for childcare, but are not allowed to travel to access it.

SharonasCorona · 25/05/2020 22:29

Yes Alice Cummings lives and works in London and on 14 April 2020 joined the board of IDOX, the company given the contract for the track and trace app.

The sister could have been on standby to support her brother. It’s clear they all went to Durham.

This whole thing stinks.

JudyCoolibar · 25/05/2020 22:29

Cummings expects us to believe he made a 5 hour car journey with a toddler in the back without stopping, that's so obviously bullshit

Even if he did, he couldn't have guaranteed before he started out that that would be the case.

He's also a bit coy about when and how he refuelled before starting the journey. Even if it wasn't immediately beforehand, it appears that it was during the period when he should have been self-isolating.

Peregrina · 25/05/2020 22:31

So they just caught a vomiting bug, but wanted to be drama llamas about it all. Yes, I can believe that.

SharonasCorona · 25/05/2020 22:31

The timing of Alice joint the IDOX board is an extraordinarily coincidence, no?

JudyCoolibar · 25/05/2020 22:31

How was he able to pick his wife and child up from hospital when was supposedly poleaxed with the bug?

And why didn't he ask his sister or nieces to do it?

The story that there were no taxis running in Durham doesn't sound that likely either.

Peregrina · 25/05/2020 22:33

But then manflu is real, so we now have CummingsCorona - where you're not ill enough to stay in bed, but can drive half the length of the country and go for day trips.

NeedToKnow101 · 25/05/2020 22:33

If the wife didn't have serious symptoms, why did they go to Durham anyway? Is it coincidence that there was a spike in cases after they'd been there. Did they cause the spike?

Anyway all that convoluted shit, him thinking he's covered his back; the media must have Carrie Mathison level of complexity storyboards being made tonight, working through his story with a fine tooth comb.
It's scary that he's so powerful. They gave DC the fucking rose garden to deliver the press conference in. He was late.

Hadenoughfornow · 25/05/2020 22:34

We had lots of childcare issues when DC were younger. No family nearby and both working.

We've had family travel hundreds of miles to help us out. So we could go to work.

Funnily enough we've never had help for when we were ill, or we've never travelled hundreds of miles when ill during a pandemic to get to the childcare, which wasn't even childcare.

FliesandPies · 25/05/2020 22:35

Dreadful. Just gets worse the more you think about it.

HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend · 25/05/2020 22:36

The story that there were no taxis running in Durham doesn't sound that likely either.

I’m in the northeast, unfortunately loads of taxis aren’t working, as their is no work for them.

Jonad · 25/05/2020 22:38

On the topic of not telling the Spec about being in Durham - if the press had found him at his parents house in Durham, it being a farm presumably it’s maybe set back from the road and the cottage/house he stayed in even further set back? So even if photographers came they couldn’t be physically outside the front door and if they were staying in and not doing food shopping DC and MW wouldn’t have even seen the press? How is that worse than the press that he has outside his London house generally? (Not condoning at all the hounding they do.)

FliesandPies · 25/05/2020 22:38

Pretty damning headline on Daily Mail - no apology, no regrets

HirooOnoda · 25/05/2020 22:39

@HaudYerWheeshtYaWeeBellend “Or are we going to lie and say something I haven’t done to fit your own narrative confused”

I don’t know if you have heard but this is what we do now, it comes right from the very top Grin

JudyCoolibar · 25/05/2020 22:41

can anyone enlighten me on why this is still being defended at great cost to the PM, the government and the wider public health message?

Because he's the best they've got

Which is terrifying in itself. If takes real stupidity to come up with the eyesight excuse for the Barnard Castle trip. It takes both stupidity and arrogance to come up with the whole tissue of lies and obfuscation rather than simply putting your hands up and apologising.

If this is the best they've got, the rest of the spads have to be really spectacularly stupid. I doubt they're feeling too happy about it all.
