New thread to continue previous one, hope you don't mind original OP!

OP posts:
HelsinkiLights · 24/05/2020 17:52

I wonder what Cummings has on him.

^^^^^

This with bells, whistles & knobs on.

itsgettingweird · 24/05/2020 17:52

Helena the Oxford Mail asked why the people in Oxford weren't told explicitly about this caveat if being able to travel if you wanted childcare.

AnneKipanki · 24/05/2020 17:52

It is irresponsible to drive over 200 miles if you think you are going to be incapacitated by an illness.

SidandAndyssextoy · 24/05/2020 17:54

I know someone they could have used for childcare (someone closely connected to them) who lives in London. I can’t see any reason at all why they couldn’t have turned to them - certainly no medical reason that meant they had to travel 260 miles in preference. The whole thing stinks.

SharonasCorona · 24/05/2020 17:54

There are photos. Obviously. The media were waiting for the 'palpably false' denial.

I think so too. The eye witnesses were thorough, one even noted down DC’s car reg number and looked it up.

HeIenaDove · 24/05/2020 17:55

Thanks @itsgettingweird An excellent question.

Snog · 24/05/2020 17:55

I have no confidence in Boris to manage this pandemic, he looks so weak now.

nothingcomestonothing · 24/05/2020 17:55

I am incandescent, they really couldn't show us any more clearly the utter contempt they hold for us plebs.

I have emailed my (Tory backbencher) MP, signed the petition upthread and chucked them £10 while I was at it. I urge anyone who is able to do the same, otherwise they will get away with this shit.

Inoneminute · 24/05/2020 17:56

Maybe call one of their personal assistants or the Nanny or someone from their extensive networks or the family that live Swiftseason?

You really think "someone" couldn't have solved this problem for them, given their positions, without them having to travel.

If it was all OK and above board why did they go to such lengths to conceal it, why wasn't it included in the wife's account of their isolation?

itsgettingweird · 24/05/2020 17:56

Sharona maybe that's the hope. Maybe they then hope people won't notice it doesnt exist

PotholeParadise · 24/05/2020 17:56

^Is that sensible?
Or stay put and maybe both parents get bedridden and unable to draw breath or care for a child at all? Especially if the child becomes seriously unwell. What would they do then?^

Transporting one of these family members to pick up the four year old then? Or maybe, if you work for the prime minister, supposedly the most powerful man in the country, what about your boss finding a nanny who would accept hazard pay to take care of your child?

AnneKipanki · 24/05/2020 17:57

@Helenadove
She started by asking about PPE for porters at John Radcliffe Hospital as 2 porters had died already .
She then went on to speak about a Doctor who caught Corona with a 4 month child , and they isolated and stayed at home with no alternative childcare . She asked why did we not know about this childcare rule ?

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 24/05/2020 17:57

Can't wait for the photos to come out

Runnerduck34 · 24/05/2020 17:57

Watching Boris try and defend the indefensible is the best bit of telly Ive watched for a while, had me hooting with laughter and yelling at tv in frustration in turn. FGS Dominic Cummings resign !!

FliesandPies · 24/05/2020 17:57

My MP is Labour but I will email anyway and tell them whatever action they are able take on this must be taken now, not after their 2 week hols

Inoneminute · 24/05/2020 17:58

If there is evidence, DC must know that's a likely possibility (because obvs he knows he went again, if he did), DC has dropped Boris from a great height by letting him go out there and say it's false.

AnneKipanki · 24/05/2020 17:59

It was particularly good that she started with the PPE query.

SharonasCorona · 24/05/2020 18:00

@FliesandPies here is the email I sent to my labour MP using biggerboat draft:

‘Hi Mx,

I’m contacting you as my local MP. I am appalled by the actions of Dominic Cummings and even more appalled by the way the Cabinet has obviously been instructed to rally round him. It is shocking to me that our elected politicians are defending this aide who has quite clearly broken the rules of the lockdown set up to protect everyone.

This fundamentally undermines the integrity of the message that we are all in this together and all making sacrifices to keep each other safe.

Please continue to state publicly that you think what he did was wrong. Should we expect new guidance locally to say that we can all travel to relatives however far away while we, or a member of our household, has Covid19?

Thank you for your time.‘

Larkspurandhollyhocks · 24/05/2020 18:00

How do we write to our mp? I'm so angry

nicslackey · 24/05/2020 18:00

Plus pushing this whole “blitz spirit, Bojo as a Churchill figure”. He's not even as impressive as that nodding dog in the advert.

itsgettingweird · 24/05/2020 18:01

Roger Gale right now. Truth is I'll probably go away and shut up. But he fears this won't be the end of this and that there is more evidence. Also said he's isn't surprised as the PM stands by his friends.

madroid · 24/05/2020 18:01

@Swiftseason
Is it sensible to stay put if you feel you could become bed ridden and don't move to get that support?

But that applies to EVERYONE who got or thought they could get covid-19 - so that's the WHOLE POPULATION.

Wasn't that the point of 'stay home' and self-isolation that you stayed at home for 14 days?

Why are you defending the indefensible?

HeIenaDove · 24/05/2020 18:01

So what happens if all the people who have been fined file a complaint?!

SharonasCorona · 24/05/2020 18:01

@Larkspurandhollyhocks Just enter your postcode in the link below and it will tell your name and email address of your local MP.
