New thread to continue previous one, hope you don't mind original OP!

OP posts:
Pheasantplucker2 · 24/05/2020 17:43

Absolutely enraged about this. I've just written to my MP.

Please, everyone do the same. It's just such a smack in the teeth to hear Boris say that Cummings acted responsibly, legally and with integrity. How can he possibly say that when, on the very first page of the coronavirus information page it says

"DO NOT LEAVE THE HOUSE IF YOU SHOW ANY SIGNS OF CORONAVIRUS SYMPTOMS"

www.gov.uk/coronavirus

Please, write to your MPs and make it totally clear how unacceptable this is. This government is corrupt and clearly there is one rule for us and a totally different one for them.

Cummings obviously knows where an awful lot of bodies are buried....

everythingthelighttouches · 24/05/2020 17:43

Ah, Boris Johnson mentioned medical reasons [Cummings family] that he didn't want to go into

Is that right?? I missed that

ilovesooty · 24/05/2020 17:44

Well it's obvious why Cummings was there for 4 hours - writing that speech.

HeIenaDove · 24/05/2020 17:44

@NiknicK Ive had my 84 year old DM crying on the phone because she couldnt get a face to face appointment for her non Covid illness and ive been told for the past two months that i cant go over their to comfort her.

People have died. Family members cant go to funerals.

PaneerOfEvil · 24/05/2020 17:44

It’s the principle of it. It’s the fact that our Prime Minister has just stood in front of us and lied to us and defended someone who has behaved (arguably) indefensibly and said he was acting with “integrity”.

If events in the press are “palpably untrue” then come out and explain how they aren’t. Explain where he was.

Egghead68 · 24/05/2020 17:44

Predictable.

HeIenaDove · 24/05/2020 17:44

there not their

lyralalala · 24/05/2020 17:45

Funny how the only time the BBC have someone (i.e not Laura) prepared to push a bit they have technical details.

SharonasCorona · 24/05/2020 17:45

If they would lie to us about this what else would they lie about? It just undermines my entire confidence in the British government.

Notmyrealname855 · 24/05/2020 17:45

For perspective... think of all the AIBU posts and similar where people here have agonised over doing what’s right.

These liars have broken their own rules, repeatedly, and are now rushing to cover it by saying the entire rest of the population didn’t understand the rules.

What

The

Fuck

mbosnz · 24/05/2020 17:46

Also, don't know about anybody else, but does anybody else think that anyone in the Government or their 'Scientists' can be deemed to be lying because their lips are moving? I wouldn't trust these bastards to lie straight in bed.

RoosterPie · 24/05/2020 17:47

Really disappointing questions. I wish they had just asked yes/no factual questions that are harder to wriggle out of, regarding Barnard Castle, if BJ knew etc. Instead he responded to the other details in the question and allowed him to be evasive.

@SophieB100 it was my old thread and thank you for starting a new one, no treading at all! - I’ve been in maternity triage with bleeding so offline this afternoon (all fine now thankfully!)

SharonasCorona · 24/05/2020 17:47

Does anyone think this will affect the number of people who will sign up to the tracer app?

The80sweregreat · 24/05/2020 17:47

Where are the MPs who don't agree?
Spineless fuckers all of them

Lostvoiced · 24/05/2020 17:47

I just hope this has woken some people up to the utter contempt they have for normal people. We don't matter. They can do what they like and sod all of us.

Notmyrealname855 · 24/05/2020 17:47

Plus pushing this whole “blitz spirit, Bojo as a Churchill figure”.

Seriously... the hypocrisy, the lack of integrity!

When do you start judging people on their character? Is it not when they’ve dragged us through months of lockdown that they’ve repeatedly and dramatically breached?

Inoneminute · 24/05/2020 17:48

Please Guardian show us the evidence of the other trips. Surely neither of them could survive that?

Pheasantplucker2 · 24/05/2020 17:48

I can't imagine what medical reasons would be justifiable People have not been allowed to be at their family member's deathbed. I can't think anything trumps that.

Fudgewhizz · 24/05/2020 17:48

@RoosterPie one of them did ask a yes/no question about whether Cummings went up north again - Boris just ignored it!

SharonasCorona · 24/05/2020 17:50

It’s possible Guardian/Mirror have proof and are giving BJ/DC some rope to hang themselves before releasing?

lyralalala · 24/05/2020 17:50

Wow! Some people really need to calm down. I can understand your frustration (just) but to say you’re actually upset, that’s bordering on ridiculous.

Of course people are upset. We've been living by strict rules that, it turns out, do not apply to those who consider themselves better than us

My SIL works in ICU. When the schools closed and the guidance about over 70s came out she had a wretched choice to make.

If she worked and the kids went to school her only/usual childcare is her elderly mother. If the kids came to stay with us she would either need to not see them or risk putting my whole household at risk. Or she could quit work.

Given she works in a busy hospital, was working a shit load of hours and expecting to be busy she sent her kids here and hasn't seen them, or her mother, other than through a facetime screen ever since.

That's the sacrifices people have been making whilse the likes of Cummings waft around doing whatever the fuck they like.

JamieLeeCurtains · 24/05/2020 17:50

Johnson and Cummings are dangerous.

Folie à deux

Swiftseason · 24/05/2020 17:51

Well it has been said, if you need to care for others do so, sensibly.

Is it sensible to stay put if you feel you could become bed ridden and don't move to get that support?

If you had to travel by bus, with symptoms is that rational and reasonable?

Or public transport?
But getting in a car?
And going to an empty house close to relatives? Be they 20 miles away or 200.

Is that sensible?
Or stay put and maybe both parents get bedridden and unable to draw breath or care for a child at all? Especially if the child becomes seriously unwell. What would they do then?

RoosterPie · 24/05/2020 17:52

@Fudgewhizz must have missed that somehow - I thought the yes/no questions I saw had been buried around second questions and build up.

Either way he was clearly not interested in answering questions - short, arsey, evasive answers and then refusing follow ups. I’m horrified.

JamieLeeCurtains · 24/05/2020 17:52

There are photos. Obviously. The media were waiting for the 'palpably false' denial.
