Ohh @Anniegetyourgun Good Point Ive never stopped being DMs child.

When i pop over there I will be "avin "oops

Swiftseason · 24/05/2020 20:00

I think, sadly as it will cost... A police investigation is the only right course of action.

SharonasCorona · 24/05/2020 20:00

Three people seen in Barnard Castle, guessing its DC, MW and their son Alex Cedd (unusual that all three have different surnames). No way could that trip be classed as essential.

Livingtothefull · 24/05/2020 20:02

Please write to your MP if you haven't already done so.

You can find your MP here: members.parliament.uk/FindYourMP

Here is the letter I sent to my MP:

I am contacting you as my local MP, to let you know that I am appalled by the actions of Dominic Cummings in travelling during lockdown, putting untold numbers of people at risk.

I am even more disgusted by the way the Cabinet are rallying round him. It is shocking to me that the Prime Minister defends Mr Cummings, who despite being at the heart of Government has quite clearly broken the rules of the lockdown; the Government's own rules, set up to protect everyone.

This is something I take personally. I have been working from home since March whilst caring for my severely disabled son at the same time. This has put me under severe strain, but it has never occurred to me to break the lockdown rules by getting carers. My husband is a key worker, and goes into work every day thereby putting himself at risk to help secure the safety of others.

And we are not alone; there are so many other people who are coping heroically with real hardship as a result of obeying the lockdown, and have done so willingly in order to ensure that nobody is exposed to unnecessary risk.

Some Cabinet members have attempted to defend Mr Cummings by stating that his actions were somehow justified by the fact that he was merely caring for his family; for example, Matt Hancock (the Health Secretary no less) claimed that 'it was entirely right for Dom Cummings to find childcare for his toddler'. This insults us all, especially those of us who have struggled with caring for dependents whilst obeying the rules; it implies that we care about our family members less.

This fundamentally and fatally undermines the integrity of the Government. It makes nonsense of the message that we are all in this together and all making sacrifices to keep each other safe. Although I did not vote for them, I was prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume they would act in good faith. However I am now truly ashamed of the way our country is being governed.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 24/05/2020 20:04

otherwise why would it not be sensible to get to family?

Because part of the aim of the lockdown was to help geographically isolate the virus and localise outbreaks. So you don’t take it 250miles to the other side of the country. Not only did they not actually need to go for childcare they broke the government guidelines which told you very specifically not to do this.

StillSmallVoice · 24/05/2020 20:05

First time ever posting without reading the thread, but I am beyond angry. The fuckwit should go. Now. As should lame duck, arrogant blancmange of a Prime Minister.

I didn't vote for this lot. I didn't vote for Corbyn.

Can Kier do a superman and come in and same us all please?

Superkier!!!

HeIenaDove · 24/05/2020 20:06

Is this DC being heckled by his neighbours?

twitter.com/moodynews101/status/1264629059654483969?s=20

Swiftseason · 24/05/2020 20:09

Rafa I get that.

But this wasn't to spread virus and negligently go to pubs and family bdays whilst infected?
It was a drive to get to an isolated house with family near by?

YouTheCat · 24/05/2020 20:10

Beautiful

Humphriescushion · 24/05/2020 20:11

Someone on twitter is suggesting a boo for boris on thursday! Sounds like a great start!

YouTheCat · 24/05/2020 20:11

But what about his visit to Barnard Castle whilst he should have been in isolation?

The rules very clearly stated that what he's done was not allowed.

The80sweregreat · 24/05/2020 20:11

Even Sir Keir has to be careful.
I'm sure the Tories will dig up a rule breaking MP soon if they are on the case! Let's hope there isn't any about that's 'new news 'but you still have to be sure.
It becomes tit for tat then and people zone out I'm afraid.
It's a shame it's detracted from other problems too and schools reopening is still a problem for many. He should have sacked Dom and moved on : this story isnt going anywhere yet

hablar · 24/05/2020 20:12

I bet he wishes he had off street parking.

Swiftseason · 24/05/2020 20:12

Rafa gov guidelines were wishy washy... And with vulnerable children... Do what you need too.

I'm telling you now if I was a single parent... With the possibility of an empty house near my parents I would have gone to it.

Alsohuman · 24/05/2020 20:14

Someone on twitter is suggesting a boo for boris on thursday! Sounds like a great start!

She’s one of my real life friends.

The80sweregreat · 24/05/2020 20:14

If DC had been a single dad the country may have been a bit more sympathetic . He isn't though ! There were options he could have used.

YouTheCat · 24/05/2020 20:15

If they had made the decision to go there at the beginning of lock down then I'd not have a problem. If they'd gone there and stayed there and not broke isolation rules, that would be fair. But they didn't do that. They have been up and down the A1 numerous times.

Swiftseason · 24/05/2020 20:15

The only clarity will come from a proper investigation.

I hope this is done swiftly.
Then we can concentrate on the real issues here which to me are the care homes.. People dying without proper medication palliative care, or even basic support from the a gp... Alone.

Mittens030869 · 24/05/2020 20:15

@Swiftseason I just can't imagine that a couple with a 4 year old DS didn't have to stop at a services to use the toilet and buy food? We don't know whether they did stop or not, but I've had enough car journeys with young children to know that that's very unlikely. We've always had to stop at least a couple of times for a toilet break and to buy food when on long journeys. But either way, we don't know. If they didn't stop, they could surely tell us that?

However you look it, it put members of the public at risk if they did use the facilities at motorway services. It also put his DS at unnecessary risk. (My DD2 (8) had COVID symptoms for 4 days, which were very unpleasant.) Other children, thankfully very few, have had more serious complications, so I personally wouldn't take the risk.

Swiftseason · 24/05/2020 20:18

Why on the earth would they have a need to go there pre lock down? Or at the beginning when working in London?. Wouldn't they then be accused of going to a second hConfusedome, home like rich entitled bastards???

Anniegetyourgun · 24/05/2020 20:19

@HeIenaDove Absolutely. You go for it, girl. And if they try to fine you, get them to send the bill to No 10.

Fluffybutter · 24/05/2020 20:20

Really sick of this “one rule for us and another for them”
His disgusting “I don’t care “ attitude does not help the jumped up prick at all .
He needs to go

The80sweregreat · 24/05/2020 20:20

The care homes scandal is huge.
It's being overlooked because of this.

SharonasCorona · 24/05/2020 20:22

Why on the earth would they have a need to go there pre lock down? Or at the beginning when working in London?. Wouldn't they then be accused of going to a second hconfusedome, home like rich entitled bastards???

This is the crux, they’ve used lockdown as an excuse to have a holiday and see his parents, celebrating two birthdays, one party, visiting a beauty spot. Killing two birds with one stone.

If DC co-owns the farm with his dad like fuck would he have limited him self to a separate building.

The80sweregreat · 24/05/2020 20:23

I wished a journalist can dig up the dirt that he has on them.
I wonder how long it will rumble on for?
