To wonder where Boris Johnson is?

He’s never at the daily briefings and given that we are living through the greatest crisis in living memory, he should be there. The list of people at these briefings gets more bizarre every day.

He’s the prime minister and he’s pretty absent at the moment meanwhile the death count grows. 35,000 people - it’s truly devastating especially when you think that if there is a terrorist incident and even one person dies, it makes the headlines for days.

And before anyone says he’s on paternity leave, he’s a notoriously absent father who has many other kids and if that was anyone else on here, would get slated for not fulfilling his parental duties.

Aibu to think he’s shirking his responsibilities as PM- he should be there every day being accountable but he’s not- he’s sending in his minions. It’s truly appalling.

"It's so easy for Starmer to appear as the blue eyed boy at PMQs but he's simply asking questions- any of us could do that! "

Why can't Boris Johnson "simply" answer them truthfully?

PositiveVibez · 20/05/2020 08:55

She let people buy their council houses for buttons thus gave them an asset they could sell to pay for their care when unable to remain at home

Also to weaken the unions. People had mortgages so couldn't strike with no pay.

Piglet89 · 20/05/2020 08:57

@MashedPotatoBrainz

It's not what he signed up for. He signed up for glory and ego stroking, not hard graft and scrutiny.

Bang on.

Moonmelodies · 20/05/2020 09:11

And you have absolutely no idea how any other party would deal with it. None of us do.

Unless you look at Wales, who have a different party running their health and social care systems.

2littlledarlings · 20/05/2020 09:20

@kuckfnows - Labour Thread?? no it’s asking where our great leader is, the one in some peoples eyes can do no wrong 🤷🏻‍♀️
35000 - at least - are dead, he has hardly been seen since his illness, before which he was quite happy to be doing the briefings however now the shit is hitting he has done one of his disappearing acts...be funny if it wasn’t so serious
Love it when people mention Labour to disguise the shit that’s going on when it’s nothing to do with mentioned it explains a lot of why we have Boris in charge tbh

I don’t think he should be doing each one btw but at least now as I have no trust in most of his ministers neither, the accountability is with the PM he should be showing his face more. Other leaders are

Oxfordnono12 · 20/05/2020 09:35

He's a tool. A useless one at that.

Many fathers go through having babies but are still expected (and do) go out to work 2 weeks after they're born. So that's a shit excuse.

derxa · 20/05/2020 09:51

Doggy I have to agree with you. Old people are not valued in this society. Now suddenly the media are all over them e.g. Captain Tom.
Also there have been many scandals re abuse in care homes before the virus.

MashedPotatoBrainz · 20/05/2020 09:59

I've just seen that he's not bothering with PMQs today. No reason given. Just not doing it.

Fallsballs · 20/05/2020 10:03

That’s funny him not doing PMQ’s - I thought he’d dodge this. Ah such a hero - not.

VillageFete · 20/05/2020 10:03

He’s not there because he’s a weak leader and a pathetic public speaker.

I hope this is the downfall of him, and the party that he “leads”

Doggybiccys · 20/05/2020 10:10

@Dexra - I've had health related jobs in the NHS and the private sector / third sector. I always state there is good and poor practice everywhere. But the majority of the big care scandals have been due to scumbags being employed as "carers"(Winterbourne particularly springs to mind) who bully other staff, including the registered nursing staff which was particularly evident at Winterbourne. As I said before, half of these people wouldn't get employed to stack shelfs yet we give them positions where they are supposed to be caring for some of the most vulnerable in society. I remember dealing with a patient once who suffered a massive stroke - painter and decorater - he asked me my pay and he reckoned he was making 10 times what I was (mid level nurse at the time). Says it all when someone will pay another to paint their living room nearly 10 times what they will pay the nurse who will be responsible for their safety and wellbeing when ill. Situation in care homes even more so. As a society, caring is seen as vocational and mainly women's work so that also adds to the poor pay.

I've just heard today that in Scotland, the care homes are now being brought back under NHS nursing management rather than social care which doesn't fill me totally with confidence but hopefully it will lead to some greater assurance of quality of care.

Bluebellpainting · 20/05/2020 10:10

Where have you seen that mashed?
I’m not surprised if it is true. I think the next time we will get to see him is when he is announcing something positive like being able to see family or something. So people will forget how absent he has been.

MashedPotatoBrainz · 20/05/2020 10:13

Where have you seen that mashed?

Came up on my Facebook feed posted by the Liverpool Echo.

Sloth66 · 20/05/2020 10:14

Since his incompetence is being exposed by Keir Starmer, he probably wants to keep a low profile.
Or given his complex private life, he could be anywhere

Bluebellpainting · 20/05/2020 10:17

Thanks I was reading an another article about how he was attending and what was likely to come up. Article mainly talked about how difficult it is becoming for Boris to dodge these issues. Schools etc. Seems he is going to dodge it by missing it altogether.

longwayoff · 20/05/2020 10:21

He is a terrible speaker, he can't do what Keir Starmer can, calmly and rationally discuss. He can bluster and bawl and believe it Churchillian. He can give an after dinner speech that he's learned (same one each time apparently, although he may have updated it recently). Yet he is useless at Q&As. Now he's off Bonding with Baby. That's good, he'll remember who this one is.

AnxiousAnnie13 · 20/05/2020 10:34

YABU to care. It's not like we're really missing his wonderful leadership

Sparklingbrook · 20/05/2020 10:41

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/coronavirus/3913979-Where-is-Boris

It’s the daily thread. Grin

ismellamouse · 20/05/2020 11:02

He's hiding. Absolute waste of space. The government has no clue what to do. There is worse to come when we crash out of Europe with no deal and they will blame everything on the pandemic. I despair

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 20/05/2020 11:06

This sums it up.

To wonder where Boris Johnson is?
BiggerBoat1 · 20/05/2020 11:09

He's a disgrace. His is leading a cabinet mostly made up of inexperienced yes men and women who are wholly inadequate to face this situation. He ineptitude and cowardice mean that he can't face up to what's going on so he's hiding.

After this is all over he will blame the science, the public, china or whoever else he can to deflect attention from the fact he's an egotistical, talentless moral vacuum.
We'll then crash out of Europe but the ensuing economic chaos won't be anything to do with Brexit, it'll be an unfortunate side effect of the global pandemic.
This man, his ego and his ill-informed followers will bring the country to its knees.

Grandmi · 20/05/2020 11:53

A where’s Boris jigsaw would be fun...we might then actually find him 😂

VillageFete · 20/05/2020 11:54

@BiggerBoat1 You deserve a round of applause for that. Nail on head springs to mind.

Helmetbymidnight · 20/05/2020 12:01

i agree -biggerboat, well said.

Medievalist · 20/05/2020 12:02

Actually, Boris is doing PMQ now.
