To wonder where Boris Johnson is?

He’s never at the daily briefings and given that we are living through the greatest crisis in living memory, he should be there. The list of people at these briefings gets more bizarre every day.

He’s the prime minister and he’s pretty absent at the moment meanwhile the death count grows. 35,000 people - it’s truly devastating especially when you think that if there is a terrorist incident and even one person dies, it makes the headlines for days.

And before anyone says he’s on paternity leave, he’s a notoriously absent father who has many other kids and if that was anyone else on here, would get slated for not fulfilling his parental duties.

Aibu to think he’s shirking his responsibilities as PM- he should be there every day being accountable but he’s not- he’s sending in his minions. It’s truly appalling.

He turned up. I'm surprised. Has he locked Keir Starmer in the fridge instead?

JudyCoolibar · 20/05/2020 12:04

He's probably been hiding away being desperately coached on everything that might possibly come up in PMQ. He knows how badly he's cocked it up so far.

OutOfHours · 20/05/2020 12:05

Oh yawn

Have you nothing better to do

JudyCoolibar · 20/05/2020 12:12

@OutOfHours: No. Haven't you?

Sparklingbrook · 20/05/2020 12:20

Boris threads are good for MN Bingo playing.

OutOfHours · 20/05/2020 12:23

@JudyCoolibar
Take a day off!

RitzSpy · 20/05/2020 12:27

I think he's cramming for PMQs after the roasting he got last week!😂

The80sweregreat · 20/05/2020 13:11

I saw him on tv this morning ! PMQs.
His hair is getting wilder : I can sympathise a lot with that.

Sparklingbrook · 20/05/2020 13:12

Can you imagine the uproar if he suddenly had a haircut. The country would explode.

AllTheWhoresOfMalta · 20/05/2020 13:12

@outofhours

@JudyCoolibar
Take a day off!

Just like boris! 😂

BlackberryCane · 20/05/2020 13:24

Mocking Johnson for being incompetent is never anything less than a marvellous use of time. Wholesome, enjoyable and you get to watch desperate Tories squirming.

JudyCoolibar · 20/05/2020 13:28

Take a day off!

That's what I'm doing, thanks, @OutOfHours

CuriousaboutSamphire · 20/05/2020 13:36

Whether you like him or not asking where he is, again, is bloody stupid.

We know what he is doing.

We know that the various department heads take the daily briefings.

What's the point of asking this again?

TwitterTwatterofTinyMinds · 20/05/2020 13:43

Found him!! Floundering around ineffectually under some well prepared questions from the Leader of the Opposition. Turns out facing off against a well prepared, diligent, opponent who is armed with facts is a bit toughed than the previous bun fights backed by his pals...

BlackberryCane · 20/05/2020 13:50

We know what he is doing.

Do we?

strugglingwithdeciding · 20/05/2020 14:02

I don't think many other countries have daily briefings and now it looks like we are in for the long haul they are pointless unless anything major is changing

VillageFete · 20/05/2020 14:04

@BlackberryCane Grin I do enjoy watching Tories squirm Grin I also enjoy watching them deflect.

UniversalAunt · 20/05/2020 14:05

@Doggybiccys I appreciate your posts - frank & informed about the overall state & challenges of the care sector.

strugglingwithdeciding · 20/05/2020 14:08

Also he puts the most up for the day on what they are discussing so if it's economy iT will be chancellor etc
In normal times you won't see ok everyday and you or I have no idea what meetings and telephone calls etc he is doing behind the scenes when they work out what to do next they don't just have a 5 min catch up just before
The pm is used for the bigger announcements in general
You have a problem with Boris fair enough but not being in the daily briefings is not unreasonable and as for having a baby he already said he would be taking paternity leave later , plus obviously the pandemic is taking over but there will still be other things that need sorting out

Oakmaiden · 20/05/2020 14:10

I don't agree that he should be there every day - a press briefing is hardly high priority, there are probably far more important things he could be doing - but he should make a point of being there at least once a week.

strugglingwithdeciding · 20/05/2020 14:11

These all turn in to anyo Tory threads
I.e I do enjoy tories squirm , really grow up
And making comparison last against Asian countries which is very different t why not compare to France , Spain , Italy all countries with much similar cultures goes to show you just read headlines and don't look into ins and outs of everything
And until we know more we won't know exactly why some countries have been harder hit than others plus if you think all countries out there tell them truth the you are even more stupid

strugglingwithdeciding · 20/05/2020 14:13

@blackberry came how old are you 12 , grow up and understand this is a little more serious getting pleasure out of watching people squirm whilst trying to deal with a major pandemic
I mean really that says more about you than anyone else

strugglingwithdeciding · 20/05/2020 14:15

@Medievalist which you think the op might now seeing as they are following him so well
Makes a lot if you on this thread look a little silly

CuriousaboutSamphire · 20/05/2020 14:15

Do we?

Well we do if we take any notice if what is going on, yes.

Daily schedule? No, of course not.

Reports from and about various meetings and parliamentary groups? Yes, every bloody day!

Standupthisisnotateaparty · 20/05/2020 14:23

He’s not a leader. He’s a liar a cheat and was hoping to coast through this premiership. He’s out of his depth.

People will still defend him blindly though. Iv seen the photo of ‘poor’ Boris looking exhausted doing the rounds. Except it’s from 2002.
