Husband's irritating habits whilst WFH!

Just looking for a MN opinion on this to see if I'm being picky. Semi light-hearted and I know there are far worse things to get irritated about but you know how everything gets magnified times a million when you're in lockdown together for the 67 millionth day!

Husband makes a coffee around 4/5 times a day. Takes coffee out of cupboard, makes coffee, puts it back in cupboard (and this is the key bit) leaving said cupboard door wide open right opposite my line of vision from where I'm working. Buggers off back to his work space where he can't see wide open cupboard door. Would you:-

a) sigh heavily, stomp over and slam said cupboard door shut loud enough so that he can hear you're annoyed
b) get up and calmly close cupboard then ask him nicely the next time he's in the kitchen not to forget to close it
c) just close the damn thing yourself and not say anything
d) LTB

Have tried approaches a and b and he gets pissed off with me for being 'passive aggressive' !!

Just get him to choose a big kettle or a hot water pot for his workspace.
You’ve raised it as a problem and now it’s a bone of contention that isn’t worth having. He probably isn’t aware he’s doing it.
He’s not coming through for a chat if his headphones are on so he may as well just stay put for his coffee.

Hearhoovesthinkzebras · 20/05/2020 15:43

Of course you should keep telling him to close the door - if you're prepared for him to do the same to you whenever you do something that he doesn't like.

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 20/05/2020 15:44

I'm totally happy for him to tell me if I'm doing something which pisses him off - communication is key in my opinion! Otherwise things fester.

Candlenobra are you me?!!!

SpillTheTeaa · 20/05/2020 18:59

I HATE it when people leave cupboard doors open. I'd be tempted to place his head in it and slam the door repeatedly. Grin

RandomLondoner · 20/05/2020 19:39

Tell him you will hide the coffee for 24 hours every you have to get up to shut the door.

adnilc · 20/05/2020 23:05

Move the coffee to somewher he can't find it 😌😉

BushyTT · 22/05/2020 08:30

Or option e) Just take the door off the hinges

Nquartz · 25/05/2020 16:14

Did you ever do any of the suggestions @OP?

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 25/05/2020 16:28

He actually started remembering after my mini strop, so no need!

Mine leaves the cupboard doors open too. I've bruised my shins and head where I've bashed myself on the bloody things. He leaves coffee and sugar on the work surfaces and the wet tea spoon too.
Today I'm removing the cupbiard doors except the one where the coffee is kept. That one I'm supergluing closed. If he does manage to open it the coffee jar will be sat there empty. Ha!

@wineiscooling

One cup at a time to windowsill by desk results in empty cup cupboard.

Please suggest how to respond to peering in cupboard asking "Where have all the cups gone?"

All advice gratefully received.

@Sparklesocks

Hide the coffee Grin

It’s funny how you don’t know much about your OH’s work habits until you end up working from home together for such a long period. My partner is a ‘commenter’, he loudly says comments about emails he’s received or reports he’s reading ‘oh come off it what does that even mean??’ ‘15% reduction? You’d be lucky!!’. He doesn’t do this when he’s reading normal books/papers so I had no idea. He doesn’t even know he’s doing it until I mention it. Drives me mad!!

Mine is a serial commentator too. Drives me INSANE.
romany4 · 24/05/2021 11:51

That would drive me batshit.

I'd throw the coffee away.
Want a coffee DH?
Tough shit
