Husband's irritating habits whilst WFH!

Just looking for a MN opinion on this to see if I'm being picky. Semi light-hearted and I know there are far worse things to get irritated about but you know how everything gets magnified times a million when you're in lockdown together for the 67 millionth day!

Husband makes a coffee around 4/5 times a day. Takes coffee out of cupboard, makes coffee, puts it back in cupboard (and this is the key bit) leaving said cupboard door wide open right opposite my line of vision from where I'm working. Buggers off back to his work space where he can't see wide open cupboard door. Would you:-

a) sigh heavily, stomp over and slam said cupboard door shut loud enough so that he can hear you're annoyed
b) get up and calmly close cupboard then ask him nicely the next time he's in the kitchen not to forget to close it
c) just close the damn thing yourself and not say anything
d) LTB

Have tried approaches a and b and he gets pissed off with me for being 'passive aggressive' !!

Get a nerf gun and shoot him every time he does it .., extreme Pavlovian training Grin
or take the door off ...

Rightbutno · 18/05/2020 19:08

Ask him to close it every time

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 18/05/2020 19:30

This threadis hilarious. There are some slightly deranged very creative posters here. So many of you seem to live with annoying AF partners.

Whataloadofshite · 18/05/2020 21:06

"CLOSE THE BLOODY DOOR YOU ABSOLUTE SALAD."

chocolatesaltyballs22 · 19/05/2020 09:46

Morning update: HE CLOSED IT! We have the rest of the day to go though...

Yr lucky, mine makes coffee (mostly using a different mug each time), leaves everything out AND doesnt close the doors

nyu82 · 19/05/2020 17:44

Vanhi
Love that - I live with this too , my partner is oblivious to left open doors , drawers , anything that he can miss he will
Drives me bonkers

MummyMayo1988 · 19/05/2020 17:51

My DH does things like this.
Just this afternoon he made lunch for himself and the kids. Didnt ask me if I wanted anything but that's by the by. Anyway about half hour later I go out in the kitchen for a drink; hes left the sandwich chicken out on the side and the mayo jar open, also on the side.
I was totally baffled!
Personally I thinks its total laziness and most of the time a complete lack of respect for me - as the SAH mum. As if trying to get a 10 and 5 year old to do school work and chores, whilst stopping the baby from crawling up the stairs isnt enough 🤷‍♀️

QueenVictoriasteapot · 19/05/2020 17:54

I think perhaps we are married to the same man..😳 my husband does exactly the same thing when he makes his bloody coffee and leaves the spoon drawer open too FFS.. I usually leave said drawer and cupboard open for him to close unless it’s wound me up so much that I have to do it.. actually now you’ve got me started he leaves the wardrobe door open as well.. grrrrr..

TommyJoesMummy · 19/05/2020 17:55

I’d unscrew and remove the door in the night, and hide the door... and just look confused when it was mentioned.
“Isn’t it always like that? Open?”
Or you could miss out the ‘passive’ part and pour water into the coffee container? Wink

Bubbletrouble43 · 19/05/2020 17:57

Makes a cup of tea a million times a day, every single time managing to stand for ages in front of the exact cupboard I need to go into - this varies.

Mylifesadrama · 19/05/2020 17:57

Just ask him nicely if he can please close the cupboard door after he makes the coffee? If he continues to leave it open, then shout out ‘cupboard’ at him every time!

Bubbletrouble43 · 19/05/2020 17:57

@londongirl12
Mine leaves the bag by the sink!!!!

Heartlake · 19/05/2020 17:57

Say, darling, that messes with my chi... Please shut the fucking door!

Vinomummyinlockdown · 19/05/2020 17:58

Oh I hear you ....... we have a 100 degree hot water tap. With a goddamn SAFETY CAP FOR A GODDAMN REASON!!! And we have two kids aged 8 and 10 who use the tap for cold water too. NEVER EVER DOES HUSBAND PUT THE SAFETY CAP back on the tap!!!!! Drives me nuts and it’s dangerous! I huff, I puff, I tell him 100009 time’s a day. Nothing. He says “sorry I was just using it. Sorry I was holding a heavy pan etc etc”
How come I can replace the cap each time?!?! Arghhhhhhhhhh. I suggest beating your husband with said coffee and / or cupboard door (!) and I might beat mine with the SAFETY CAP!!! # rant overthankyou

Forgottenwhatsleepis · 19/05/2020 17:59

Take the cupboard door off, then LTB taking the coffee and cupboard door with you!

MyWitzEnd · 19/05/2020 18:14

Move the coffee to another place every time he does it. Explain why. I told DH every time he moaned about the size of his dick i would punch him in the belly. He is learning.

nothingcanhurtmewithmyeyesshut · 19/05/2020 18:14

Get some clingfilm and screw it up into a rope. Use it to tie the cupboard doors shut, tying into a tight knot after winding it round several times. Hide all scissors, knives etc. Say nothing.

Will drive him nuts, near on impossible to unnoticed or even find the end and really hard to break.

FelicisNox · 19/05/2020 18:18

I like the post it note idea and also the swapping the coffee for gravy .... hilarious.

AriadnesFilament · 19/05/2020 18:27

Every time he does it: go into his work space, fetch something, leave door open, “oh, I thought that’s what we’re doing now”

Mummyshark2019 · 19/05/2020 18:31

Ltb

Oblomov20 · 19/05/2020 18:35

Sit him down. Tell him you need to have a serious chat. Tell him.

topcat2014 · 19/05/2020 18:35

I would not cope with coffee in a cupboard. Making drinks would be too slow...

I have it on the counter, but in matching pots etc

val4 · 19/05/2020 18:46

My DH leaves the downstairs toilet light on ( its bright..doesn't need light), closes window in said bathroom, then leaves door open allowing the odour to waft around downstairs , 3 - 4 times a day😷. Drives me mad and despite telling him he ("just forgets"). He never used to wfh so new to me.
