And no change before the 28th. What the hell is Nichola Sturgeon thinking?!

Durgasarrow · 18/05/2020 13:06

Yes, you are being ridiculous.

salemcat · 18/05/2020 13:07

Shes thinking watch, learn & plan from what others do.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 18/05/2020 13:08

Northern Ireland is still in full lockdown and although people are fed up, including me as my business is closed, we accept that it’s the best decision as this is hopefully, a temporary situation. We need to have the infection rates drop further in order to reduce the rates of deaths.

Sonichu · 18/05/2020 13:08

🙄

aawcmon · 18/05/2020 13:08

I imagine she's thinking about the health and wellbeing of Scotland as a whole and not rushing into anything too early which will result in a second wave of infections so YABU

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 18/05/2020 13:09

No it's not ridiculous, everyone I know up here in Scotland is still fine with being in lockdown.

Redwinestillfine · 18/05/2020 13:09

Based on what op?

tabulahrasa · 18/05/2020 13:10

I think it’s ridiculous that England isn’t still in full lockdown...

Hadenoughfornow · 18/05/2020 13:11

When Boris made his announcements I saw so many people posting comments that they were glad Scotland was still stay at home.

I did see a few grumbles over the weekend. Not sure if its just a handful of people or whether more are getting fed up.

strawberry2017 · 18/05/2020 13:11

Wish we were, can't believe the amount of people who headed to seaside towns etc this weekend.
I for one will be continuing lockdown until the 2nd wave is out of the way.
Not prepared to risk my family's health.

Wfhwith3yearold · 18/05/2020 13:12

Scotlands death rate is steady, not declining. YABVU.

It is indeed ridiculous to try to save peoples lives. I have no idea what she's thinking, putting peoples lives first. Absolutely awful behaviour.

weebarra · 18/05/2020 13:14

Yes, I'm fed up. But I also support what NS is doing. She is between a rock and a hard place between the health and economy of Scotland.

Dollybagwash · 18/05/2020 13:15

I agree with you op. It's an absolute joke. Her announcement today basically follows the uk plan. She's just pissed Boris didn't let her know first.

My initial support is now zero. My kids need to socialise and have an education!

Noconceptofnormal · 18/05/2020 13:15

Don't think it should be her decision, unless she's going to put up taxes in Scotland to pay for it.

KaronAVyrus · 18/05/2020 13:16

I’m very down in the dumps about this. Another 10 days of this is just depressing.

Dylaninthemovies1 · 18/05/2020 13:18

She cares more about people’s lives than the economy I guess.

I’m in Scotland, hating lockdown. But she’s made the right call IMO

bakedbeanzontoast · 18/05/2020 13:19

She can make Boris out to be the baddy and use it to continue with the campaign for Scottish independence once this is over.

MouthBreathingRage · 18/05/2020 13:19

What the hell is Nichola Sturgeon thinking?!

Probably that people are still getting infected and dying in large numbers. That people's lives are worth saving where possible. That if lockdown is loosened, people will start travelling again, particularly from over the border, setting off a second wave. Same as the governments of N. Ireland and Wales are thinking I should imagine. Wish the English government would do some thinking.

Nubbled · 18/05/2020 13:19

I think she's doing a good job, and I don't like her or her (usual) politics.

Zilla1 · 18/05/2020 13:20

Perhaps she's waiting to see the best way English people will develop their super powers to control nanometer-scale objects before rolling out virus-controlling training in Scotland? Or waiting for the sustained reduction in infection and death rates (that based on community mortality and excess death statistics looks like it hasn't satisfactorily happened in England before that easing)?

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 18/05/2020 13:20

No it's not ridiculous, everyone I know up here in Scotland is still fine with being in lockdown.

Define fine. I'm borderline suicidal. Lockdown has brought back my mental health issues (ptsd) that I thought were fixed. I'm struggling to function. Most of my friends are on antidepressants or have had to up their doses. Everyone's kids are acting out, frustrated and in some cases regressing. My mum is really struggling. We aren't protesting against it but I wouldn't say we're happy either. Scotland's mental health seems to be really struggling and I just hope there will be support going forward because what's the point of saving lives from covid if we let them self destruct down the line.

ChangeThePassword · 18/05/2020 13:20

Why are you picking on Scotland? Why aren't you mentioning Northern Ireland or Wales?

You do realise that England is the only country within the UK not all on full lockdown... right? Its England that's the outlier here, not Scotland.
