And no change before the 28th. What the hell is Nichola Sturgeon thinking?!

Oh great ten more days being locked in & listening to SNP supporters and the we're all gonna die pish if we step outside the door. Give it a rest the only reason the R is higher here is due to the care home and hospital spread. The care home spread being specifically a result of the governments directive to fuck people out of hospital beds into care homes without testing for covid. Then some of them get moved back into hospital and it spreads again. As far as I can see the infection rate out with these areas is very low and reducing constantly. There are people needing treatment for other things are they getting dealt with? No essential services for health and social care which were all ready on their knees prior to this have been fucked right over. No not everyone in Scotland is happy with lock down we want to get out there getting fresh air in our lungs, getting to see family and getting back to work and schools. This is a virus like others that we need to live with for the foreseeable future if not forever so this further lock down is in my opinion just another independence point scoring exercise. And no I am not a tory loving, nurse hating child murderer.

ParkheadParadise · 18/05/2020 13:46

I think she's made the right decision.

ConstantlySeekingHappiness · 18/05/2020 13:47

Yes, she's thinking of the health of Scottish people at the expense of the English purse, as usual

Every single time. 😂😂😂😂

I pay a higher rate of tax than someone on the exact same salary in England.

Wheest hen.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 18/05/2020 13:47

Well, if you remember she said she'd give a roadmap out and then didn't

Agreed to stick with a UK wide strategy and didn't

Has again said she'll publish a roadmap out....

I'm not sure what else you'd expect.

She is prevaricating. Taking her time. Seeing what the political response to coming out are, searching for points to score.

Much like many other politicians. No better no worse, really.

Pasghetti · 18/05/2020 13:47

Boris's decision is based on London's ability to cope and fuck everywhere outside it. It is based on middle class professionals working safely at home and working classes / medical workers / public sector being thrown under the bus to keep the economy moving. Thrown under the bus they are not supposed to be travelling on, ironically.

Another couple of weeks could have made a huge difference in the R rate but tbh it's more important to Boris to keep his donors happy.

SockYarn · 18/05/2020 13:47

People living in England are free to say in the house, not go shopping, not meet friends, carry on exactly as they have been doing. Perpetuate the lockdown as long as they wish. Crack on.

We don't have that freedom as Ms Sturgeon insists on treating us all like naughty children who can't be trusted. And IMHO Wales and N Ireland are just as bad - although I did see that garden centres are back open in NI, as are local tips. So more freedom than we have.

ChangeThePassword · 18/05/2020 13:48

Agreed to stick with a UK wide strategy and didn't

I think you'll find its England that didn't.

The other three countries are still in lockdown.

AnyFucker · 18/05/2020 13:48

Ms Sturgeon appears to be a megalomaniac

shadowpuss · 18/05/2020 13:48

I'm in Scotland. The only place I have been since lockdown began is the supermarket. We have followed all precautions. Last week I tested positive for CV. It is everywhere. So, no. I don't think it's an over reaction on NS's part, and I fully support continuing lockdown.

GrolliffetheDragon · 18/05/2020 13:48

Why is everyone bashing Nicola Sturgeon when they aren’t bashing the government of Wales and Northern Ireland.

We already know from Brexit that no one gives a fuck about Ireland and I suspect most people in England barely realise that Wales has it's own government and is doing things differently.

StoorieHoose · 18/05/2020 13:48

You can get fresh air i to your lungs! She's not welded everyone's door shut.

Namenic · 18/05/2020 13:48

For context - I am in a country with the same population as Scotland where there has been all along been single digit daily death rate. They are not lifting lockdown until June.

Scotland is being very sensible. I think England is unusual in it’s approach compared to the rest of the world and certainly Compared to those countries which have done well in limiting covid.

Cocacola12 · 18/05/2020 13:49

@Dinosauratemydaffodils I couldn’t agree more.

deydododatdodontdeydo · 18/05/2020 13:49

It totally makes sense that regions which are more past the peak lift restrictions first. Look at France, with their little map of different zones, red, amber, green.
If Scotland is a little behind England, they should keep lockdown for longer.
Problem is, not all of England is in the same place either. London is much further along than the north.
Shows yet again how London-centric England is.

Witchcraftandhokum · 18/05/2020 13:49

Do you live in the south of England op?

StoorieHoose · 18/05/2020 13:50

More Sturgeon bashing - no bashing for the first ministers of NI and Wales who are following the same path?

backstairslavy · 18/05/2020 13:51

The council up here (Aberdeenshire) have set out a policy stating that they can take control of burials, and are considering digging mass grave type things ie what’s been seen in New York and Iran . Their gardeners are now working in cemeteries . They fully expect sustained deaths for a further 23 weeks . Every nursing home I know has lost at least one resident - a couple have lost multiple . Once it’s in a nursing home it’s nigh on impossible to get it out .

If that’s not a reason to remain in lockdown then what is ?

Bargainhuntbore · 18/05/2020 13:52

Im in Wales and it doesn’t bother me That we are locked down. One thing that does bother me is the fact That Welsh Government are now start testing more. This is only gonna make matters worse by saying that the figures are on the increase thus making coming out of lockdown even further away. If regular testing was done weeks ago, figures would show numbers decline nit increase.

YouHurtMeSoMuch · 18/05/2020 13:52

@Witchcraftandhokum

I live in Scotland.

OP posts:
Ohdeariedear · 18/05/2020 13:52

I think it’s great - we can let England be the Guinea Pigs and we’ll see how it goes for them. Everywhere but England is still in lockdown too - why are you focusing all your ire on Nicola Sturgeon?

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 18/05/2020 13:53

Oh there we have it.... people getting more depressed and unhealthy sitting at home

That's certainly true for me. When lockdown started I was fine. 2 weeks ago I was offered an inpatient bed in a psychiatric hospital. Of my close friends 1 has had to be prescribed antidepressants and 2 have upped their doses. I've been prescribed antipsychotics, antidepressants and sleeping pills (most of which I'm not taking because I'd rather feel suicidal than emotionally dead). My mum (my gran died at the start of all this) has upped her antidepressants to a comfortably numb state. Dh is still working but he and most of his colleagues loathe working from home and miss the social interaction/not having small children popping up in zoom calls. At least two of them have admitted to being depressed.

Apart from me, who has mislaid my appetite virtually everyone I know is moaning about weight gain.

Sounds pretty unhealthy and depressed to me.

Darkbendis · 18/05/2020 13:54

Well, she's probably thinking what the Welsh and N.I. leaders are thinking, considering that only England has started coming out of lockdown at the moment. Why mention only Scotland and not Wales and Northern Ireland?

deydododatdodontdeydo · 18/05/2020 13:54

Technically, England isn't "out of lockdown".
Just some restrictions lifted.

MorrisZapp · 18/05/2020 13:55

Couldn't agree more. Utterly sick of this disproportionate response in Scotland. Letting us maybe do more stuff outdoors in a fortnight is a farce. 'treat us like adults' my arse. Pretending there are easing measures on the way when there aren't is treating us like children. Just say it, we're getting feck all.

StoorieHoose · 18/05/2020 13:55

Cos it doesnt fit in with the Scots bashing that MNers like to do.
