And no change before the 28th. What the hell is Nichola Sturgeon thinking?!

I agree she's made the right call, wish we were still in full lockdown. I care about the economy but I care about the lives of my family and friends too

It's fucking ridiculous. My child has been stuck with me and no contact with peers now for fucking months. It's totally unfair, P7 going to high school and no chance of getting back into school this fucking year by the sounds of it. Why the fuck can't he even meet a friend? This is totally in humane and over the top. I am raging.

Mascotte · 18/05/2020 13:24

There's kite more to •saving lives" than a fairly non deadly virus

LittleCandle · 18/05/2020 13:25

While I wish it was sooner, its only another 10 days and a lot can happen in 10 days. Of course I want to see my family, but Nicola is being sensible, unlike that clown south of the border. I'd far rather be safe than sorry.

However, OP, there is nothing actually stopping you from breaking lockdown and perhaps gaining several fines as you go about your normal life. Oh, and probably the virus. Just be sure you don't pass it to anyone else.

MouthBreathingRage · 18/05/2020 13:26

Yes, poor little Timmy not being allowed to silently spread a killer virus amongst his friends. Of the humanity!

Mascaramademehappy · 18/05/2020 13:27

@Noconceptofnormal Do you realise that taxes in Scotland are already higher than other parts of the UK?

NS is making herself very unpopular with some people by taking a hard line on this. Let’s hope that on reflection people see she made the right choice and saved lives.

ChangeThePassword · 18/05/2020 13:27

It might be 'fairly non-deadly', but there is potential for serious and long term after-effects.

MrsSiriusBlack1 · 18/05/2020 13:27

I’m in Scotland and I for one am glad we’re still in lockdown because the amount of people wandering about shops without giving a shite about the 2m rule and meeting up with others not in their household round here is ridiculous.
The I’m alright jack mentality is very much alive and kicking in my area

moobar · 18/05/2020 13:27

It is only england who are not on lockdown. Looking at the pictures of this weekend I suspect that wont be the case for long. Absolutely horrendous crowds of people in public places and rural places.

my2bundles · 18/05/2020 13:28

I think it's ridiculous that England isn't in full lock down. It seems to be based on tne numbers in London and the south falling. Numbers are still high in nothing England and NE England. Tne government seems to be blind to the fact that England is far larger than London and surrounding areas.

Mascotte · 18/05/2020 13:29

There can be long term effects of many viruses but were not destroying people's lives for them.

SockYarn · 18/05/2020 13:30

YANBU. She is thinking that she wants to be different from England. End of story. Saint Nicola, saviour of the Scots from the Evil Boris.

It's fucking crap and awful. Our numbers are falling, a very low percentage of people in the community with it, the NHS is coping very well, lots of capacity in intensive care.

But no, Nippy says we can't be trusted to play a round of golf or meet a friend for a socially distanced walk.

MrsSiriusBlack1 · 18/05/2020 13:30

@Mascotte be even more inhumane having ur child in a covid ward no?Hmm

Cam2020 · 18/05/2020 13:31

Yes, she's thinking of the health of Scottish people at the expense of the English purse, as usual. Wants to be independent but also wants handouts from England.

PinkMonkeyBird · 18/05/2020 13:32

I wish I was in Scotland!

Anniesnotmydaddy · 18/05/2020 13:32

Mascarmademehappy I didn't know that about taxes. What taxes are higher (it's a genuine question). I'm a Scot who has been living in England for a long time and felt fairly envious of things like prescriptions being free in Scotland. But I didn't know that you paid more tax, I naively assumed it was the same.

SockYarn · 18/05/2020 13:32

Probably that people are still getting infected and dying in large numbers

2 deaths registered from Covid in Scotland in the last 24 hours.

Since when has 2 been a "large number"?

StoorieHoose · 18/05/2020 13:32

Ffs. That didn't take long for the bashing to start

WE PAY TAX IN SCOTLAND TOO.

Scottish taxpayers are paying for crossrail and HS2 neither of which will benefit the vast majority of Scottish people

ChangeThePassword · 18/05/2020 13:33

There can be long term effects of many viruses but were not destroying people's lives for them

How many currently circulating are likely to spread as fast as coronavirus? With the potential for overstretching already stretched medical facilities?

Mascotte · 18/05/2020 13:34

Medical facilities are not overstretched. Far from it.

ChangeThePassword · 18/05/2020 13:34

@SockYarn YANBU. She is thinking that she wants to be different from England

What about the leaders of Wales and Northern Ireland? Are they guilty of that too?

TheMobileSiteMadeMeSignup · 18/05/2020 13:34

Given how many threads there have been just on here about whether or not a non-essential trip/meeting would be breaking the rules then I think she is quite right that we can't be trusted to do anything else yet.

Why is this not England being desperate to be different from the rest of the UK since, they are the only ones lifting lockdown?

The only way to keep numbers low and falling is to keep restricting movement and socialising.

Boris and chums are idiots.

I didn't say they were.
