To think the north of England offers a worse quality of life than the South or Midlands?

I was thinking of moving to Lancashire, but having done some research online, it seems a lot of people have negative opinion of it. I'm now set on Warwickshire or Leicestershire. Does the north in general offer a worse quality of life than the Midlands? I know its cheaper up north but is it much worse up there?

Well places in the Ribble Valley regularly win the best place to live in the UK type things, coastal towns like Lytham St Annes also score highly but I guess it'll tick along nicely without you anyway...

AdultierAdult · 17/05/2020 20:47

You’re talking about huge areas. I’d much rather live in York or Hope Valley, Derbyshire than Leicester or Slough.

Slumcat · 17/05/2020 20:47

YouTheCat
A lake you say? No need to brag

ClassicCola · 17/05/2020 20:47

I've heard they don't even eat avocados up North.

donquixotedelamancha · 17/05/2020 20:48

I live in a lake and eat cold gravel.

Gravel, gravel, we'd've been glad o' gravel when I were a lad. After out shift down t'pit we 'ad to walk 20 miles to school with no shoes and all we got for breakfast were a few pebbles.

I didn't see a plate full of gravel until I was 25 and went to the dazzling lights of Preston.

and even the ducks have it bad now because the racing pigeons stole the football.

So many goady OPs tonight.

Zaphodsotherhead · 17/05/2020 20:48

Oh, definitely don't come to North Yorkshire.

I had to eat my own young just to survive. And the zombie infestation is getting worse...

Redleathertrousers · 17/05/2020 20:49

@classiccola

Nope and not many of us av cars either.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 17/05/2020 20:49

Give yer head a wobble OP. You can't be that thick, surely. Hmm

Sparklingbrook · 17/05/2020 20:50

I have heard all sorts about up north OP, and you are absolutely right. No quality of life at all.
I live in Worcestershire and it's not dissimilar, so don't come here either.

DDRickyDD · 17/05/2020 20:50

So where's the best place to live? Lancashire, Warwickshire or Leicestershire?

buggeroffvirus · 17/05/2020 20:50

I hope you don't come here. You would lower the tone.

KKSlider · 17/05/2020 20:50

What's an avocado? Confused

I'm hoping this comes through as legible, they don't teach us to read and write all the way up here so I'm just bashing a stottie cake against the keyboard and hoping it forms words.

ExtraOnions · 17/05/2020 20:50

I’m not even sure what it’s like outside my house, the smog from the Dark Satanic Mills keeps us in constant darkness ...

scarbados · 17/05/2020 20:51

It's just fine up here in the North especially in the last few years since we got that electricaltricity stuff and water coming out of taps. We even have a few schools now.

QuestionMarkNow · 17/05/2020 20:51

I live in the North.

Tbf too @DDRickyDD, these ideas are pretty common. I’ve heard many people ‘from down south’ slagging the north (that people in the north see as the south Grin).

@DDRickyDD, both of those areas are in the South.... nor in the north of England

R1R2 · 17/05/2020 20:51

Lancashire is a bag of wank, Now Yorkshire there is a place blessed by the gods.

user1471565182 · 17/05/2020 20:51

Aye lass. AYE.

KKSlider · 17/05/2020 20:52

So where's the best place to live? Lancashire, Warwickshire or Leicestershire?

They are all Southern.

ethelredonagoodday · 17/05/2020 20:53

What are these avocados of which you speak PP? Bread and dripping/mucky fat is t' finest delicacy here. Any road up, off to wash a pig.

Devlesko · 17/05/2020 20:53

Terrible in Lancashire, you stay darn saff you don't want to be mixing with the likes of us. Confused

BlackberryCane · 17/05/2020 20:53

Don't come. Buy a half share of a shitbox in Zone 6 instead.

AdaColeman · 17/05/2020 20:54

H’w’y man, hinny stay safe down South there. Diven’t come up North, it’s al a’ful up here.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 17/05/2020 20:55

It's bloody awful here!

You don't want to come up here you patronising southern bastard , no you really, really don't and we don't fucking want you either.

I love the fact that here in the North we are close to countryside and beaches where on a quiet day you could be the only person there.

STFU Campervan.!
