To think the north of England offers a worse quality of life than the South or Midlands?

I was thinking of moving to Lancashire, but having done some research online, it seems a lot of people have negative opinion of it. I'm now set on Warwickshire or Leicestershire. Does the north in general offer a worse quality of life than the Midlands? I know its cheaper up north but is it much worse up there?

What do they have everywhere else if they dont have cooplands though?

KKSlider · 17/05/2020 21:12

We are very unfriendly and bite.

And if a Northerner bites you, you turn into one.

TooLittleTooLate80 · 17/05/2020 21:12

I'll send you a pigeon to direct you as to where to buy the best coal in each village. Also, obviously, piss off.

SunshineCake · 17/05/2020 21:12

Northerner married to a southerner living in the south.

Within seconds of being back up north I'm chatting to a stranger.

Feels more like home than here does but obviously you get shitty people and run down areas everywhere.

You are either thick, goady or embarrassing.

KKSlider · 17/05/2020 21:12

What do they have everywhere else if they dont have cooplands though?

Sadness, mainly.

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 17/05/2020 21:12

No, there's definitely nothing to see here, all awful. We’ve taken the roads in anyway.

iklboo · 17/05/2020 21:13

I'm voting for a sacrifice of op at the stone circle. Any takers for ritual pagan sacrifices?

For The Greater Good, of course.

donquixotedelamancha · 17/05/2020 21:13

Oh fuck l live an hour outside London......l bloody love chips and gravy!

You've never tasted real chips and gravy. What you've had is fries and dishwater.

OhhhPeee · 17/05/2020 21:14

All the men are like Shaun Ryder. All the women are like Bet Lynch. Just as all southerners are like Phil Mitchell and Gemma Collins. In fact, give England a swerve and move to Paris.

SueEllenMishke · 17/05/2020 21:14

Born in Yorkshire now living over the border in Lancashire.... although it depends who you ask as some still consider my village part of Yorkshire.

It grim up north that's for sure. I'm sick to death of the breathtaking views from my back garden, the wonderful community, the village pubs, the trendy village cocktail, wine bars and restaurants and the people!!! They're so bloody friendly. I mean, one of my neighbours left me a bottle of prosecco and some cupcakes on my doorstep today......the audacity!!!

Example of filthy, unsanitary terraces

To think the north of England offers a worse quality of life than the South or Midlands?
iklboo · 17/05/2020 21:15

They don’t have Waitrose north of Slough.

They've got one in Altrincham so ner!

Pixie2015 · 17/05/2020 21:15

If you don’t mind living in a grim place, like coal dust and sausage rolls you’ll find it canny! Our village doesn’t have fruit shop but it’s got a massive greggs and a man that sells booze and fags cheap - you probably better off on the south coast!

Fishfingersandwichplease · 17/05/2020 21:15

Ooh shooting in Blackburn today!

Qwerty543 · 17/05/2020 21:16

So this post (rightly) gets piled on because it's just goady and unpleasant.

Yet a post in Chat inviting people to list all the working class towns they know of gets loads of genuine replies....how odd.

Fishfingersandwichplease · 17/05/2020 21:16

Sorry didn't mean that to sound like l was laughing ... it is awful someone has died just typed too quickly and pressed post

iklboo · 17/05/2020 21:16

Is that Brid lulu?

ILikeyourHairyHands · 17/05/2020 21:17

I think the avocados may have been a joke. They are freely available north of Birmingham.

Squidwitch · 17/05/2020 21:17

Milton Keynes actually IS lovely, and the roundabouts and therefore lack of traffic congestion are one of the many positives of a planned city. It has more waterside than jersey and you can ride from one side to the other without ever riding in a road. We are moving north though.

emmcan · 17/05/2020 21:17

@DDRickyDD

The North.
Financially it would be a win for you.
Culturally and intellectually, you can't afford the entrance fee.

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 17/05/2020 21:17

Go to the Isle of Thanet, innit? That should be southern enough for you - which makes it dead posh.

OxanaVorontsova · 17/05/2020 21:18

YABVU but I'm sure you have realised that. I live on the right side of the Pennines but even I know Lancashire is better than down south.

LuluJakey1 · 17/05/2020 21:18

And coal-covered, grim, landscape at the end of our road.

To think the north of England offers a worse quality of life than the South or Midlands?
BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 17/05/2020 21:18

Warwickshire and Leicestershire do have general anesthetics. The North don't. They operate on you without anaesthetic Lies! Damned lies! They stop in South Oxon Grin

With that attitude we don't want you in Warwickshire (nor north Glos/Worcs).

Moving might not be the plan for you.
