To think the north of England offers a worse quality of life than the South or Midlands?

I was thinking of moving to Lancashire, but having done some research online, it seems a lot of people have negative opinion of it. I'm now set on Warwickshire or Leicestershire. Does the north in general offer a worse quality of life than the Midlands? I know its cheaper up north but is it much worse up there?

I live in the frozen north and have had to come in because it was too hot outside (iPad got too hot).

Northern dog supervising the gardening (I know, I have too much time on my hands).

I do like your Northerner dog, but I doubt my southerner cats would feel the same way,

Yes, it’s warm everywhere at the mo, but the point was a more general one. For instance, there was a recent thread about Scottish schools going back in mid August and people couldn’t believe it and were saying, “How can they be going back mid-summer.., it will be too hot..., “ To which the Scottish were laughing and were saying, no - THIS is summer now and by mid August, it’s distinctly Autumn for them. I was surprised it’s that different tbh. In London, it’s generally too hot to breathe at that time of year and the thought of sending kids back to school when it’s over 30 degrees and usually very humid with it, in their Autumn uniforms.., well no, you can’t imagine. It’s barbecue / sunbathing / so fresco cocktail month as far as I’m concerned Grin Not bloody back to school in August fgs! I realise “the North” of England is not on this schedule, but the weather is halfway there, to be fair. It’s not the end of the world obviously, but there is a noticeable difference. It’s the same in western areas.

@Leflic

steamboatwilly12 Yes I know the weather has been done to death in here but was that photo from today?

We have loads of rape fields in my part of the south east but it’s been beautiful blue skies and warm sun since Saturday. From sunrise at 5am to sundown at 9.30. It’s seriously depressing to see those grey things in the sky anytime before September.

No, it was 23 degree here today. Hth.

My car thermometer thinks it's 25°C today. Love from the nice, empty, glorious Lake District Grin

I thought of this thread when the BBC weather person said this morning that it was going to be 27 C in Aberdeen, 18 in the SE with an hour's more daylight in Aberdeen.

I'm somewhere in between the too and it's been mostly hot, dry and sunny for weeks.

Leflic · 29/05/2020 15:55

BarbaraofSeville Maybe but it’s absolutely nothing like 18 degrees in the south east today ( maybe at 7am). It’s an absolute scorcher. More like 28.

The point is it’s pretty much always warmer and drier here..You may well have an hour more sunlight but can you sit out and enjoy the evenings after work. It’ll be dry and warm most nights here all the way through yo September.
I visit the borders first week of August. There’s some sun but it’s lucky if it’s the whole day. And it’s often jumper, welly and coat weather. I watch the weather and it’s “ sunny snd 24” in the SE snd “ 18 snd changeable” .Depressing.
